I feel like she's my wife. and it's true that, before, I was using the relationship and sense of control to soothe my ego and avoid my problems. She told me that she was angry and in pain because she couldn't understand why I hurt her, and she was resigned to never understand. And I said, you will understand. You do not deserve this pain. So I took weeks to look hard at myself, finally, and then I was able to be honest with her.
After I called him out on his lies and foolishness he ghosted me then came back four months later and my eyes were opened and I saw him for the scrub that he really was.

My ex just called me on Saturday after eight months -I broke it off with him due to juggling other women and coming in all hours of the night and blatant disrespect. He apologized several times, said his life took a downward spiral and that he could not find another me. He said he wanted to send me flowers, come by my house, write me a letter but he was afraid of being rejected. He said he’d been thinking about our break up and realized I was right about everything I was noticing and how wrong and foolish he was. He said he never stopped loving me and needed to get back in my good graces. He mentioned his family had been asking about me and what happened with us-he was too embarrassed and disgusted to tell them so he just told them we didn’t work out. He said he never talked bad about me because he knew he messed “us” up. We have been talking daily since Saturday and he has asked if he could see me and take me to dinner. I have not allowed that yet and just want to hold off for awhile to allow him to just talk to me more and we possibly redevelop some level of connection but not romantic cause technically I’ve healed a lot from the breakup and even met another man I’ve fallen for and been dating now for 3 months.
