Atheism is a lot bigger in Asia then any religion and keeps growing strong because non existing god cannot help you, only you can and your friends can help you and your familly. Prayers do nothing while actions does everything! This is why religion is dying.

As a korean, I would like to add sth. Since korea still practice conscription policy, currently 95% of every male population should go through military service. In boots camp, military give only three options for religion activity. Since meals in boots camp is awful and they intentionally regulate all kind of sugar. but if you attend church, church offers you free snacks, which is only opportunity to get some free time and suger, everyone voluntarily rush to church and chapel....churches in boots camp are massive and you guys really should watch how magnificent that thousand of troops just lining up on church to get some bits of sugar. Military really plays major roll on spreading Christianity.
@@arolemaprarath6615 No. China will be majority Christian in 30 years. Both Christianity and Islam are still growing at a faster rate than atheism. It's the birth rates.
@Gentrit Çitaku Christianity creates a social support network and a certain kind of cross-class interconnectedness that in Europe is handled by the state, whereas the stratification in Asia mirrors Roman society. It obviously appeals to the poor in underdeveloped societies too, but in developed ones it spreads as well by way of being an attempt to level out socio-economic differences.

Before Muslims even existed and before "white men" started the colonial era, Christianity dominated North Africa. Even Ethiopia was a Jewish state that turned to Eastern Orthodox Christian and still is to this day. Africans used to be animist. Point is Africans can choose whatever they want to be.
TheAnimalNewb YT No so weird. It is one country, not two. My understanding is that a great many Christians fled south during the war. I have known some personally who did. Under the Kim dynastic regime, it is illegal to practice the faith, and those caught are sent to concentration camps or executed for disloyalty.
South Korea loves Christianity the U.S helped a lot when it comes to this. Christianity is born from love and the death of martyrs. It never attacks it just grows because it is the truth! Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants are all christian brothers.

Halllujah! Jesus Christ is Lord, God bless Korea and all my Christian brothers and sisters in Korea, continue praying and stay strong in the Lord, love from Srilanka 🇱🇰❤
My story begins like this, I see the Lord's hand from the time of my conception in my life, My Mom wanted to abort me, I was saved due to the efforts of a Doctor who is a Catholic Nun, All my childhood memories are flooded with how I searched for God, I was very much involved in all religious activities but I still did not have the real peace in his heart. I often wondered, “After all these religious ceremonies which I am performing every day, am I in right relationship with God? Is he drawing closer to me? My earliest encounter with Christ was big image of the Sacred Heart, I always felt called by Him, During classes and even at break I used to look at Him, the day His eyes met mine, He never left me, I still was a stauch Hindu, I wanted to overcome my karma by performing devotional rituals, but fear of death and reincarnation had overcome me, the words of Christ to Martha has set me free " I am the Resurrection", I followed Jesus right from I was 11, I was hated by my family and relatives for my faith in Him, but the Lord was gracious enough to take me into His fold when I was 16, I was baptized along with my Mom and maternal Grandmother into the Church. Jesus my Savior, my King my all in all changed my life, there is no meaning to life without Him.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful conversion story. Indeed, God finds us, His lost sheep in the darkest times of our lives and we find solace and comfort in Him. Keep the faith! Persecutions and trials will come in but persevere, so that in the end, we will be glorious and be with God in heaven for eternity! God bless you brother in Christ

@@mehuongchi2297 I bet you have no idea what happened you just repeat what you hear. Catholic priests are less likely to molest children than school teachers, and the controversy you're speaking about wasn't that every priest is a pedo it was a couple pedo priests and the church didn't want the story to get out. Your children are safer with a father of the church than your local teacher teaching your kids.
christianity ruined my childhood. fuck that bullshit. it's all lies and complete child abuse. there is no hell. you should not tell kids that there is. especially when you don't have a clear answer nor does the bible have a clear answer for salvation. scripture contradicts itself and doesn't lay it out clearly. some denomination say salvation by works, others say salvation by faith, others say salvation by indulgences. you should be able to go to the bible and get a clear answer, but the 4 gospels contradict the book of James on this matter - the literally most important matter for humans, since eternal torture vs not eternal torture depends on it. it's also just all made up bullshit. that should become clear from studying history and science, but it takes a certain amount of ignorance to keep believing.
The real code of Christianity is to obey Jesus in all He taught in the 4 gospels, including forsaking all in the start. Luke 9, 11, 12, 14, 18. Matthew 7.
This is one of the reasons why I love Korea. I’ve encountered Koreans in New York and at college, and on both occasions they’re just the sweetest people ever. I went to college at a Christian university that had an exchange program with a Korean university so there was always a lot of Koreans on campus
Can all of you guys relax, Vincent is great, Shirvan is great, this collab is nothing but quality content. Shirvan will still narrate plenty of videos, and Vincent's doing an excellent job here as well.
I like the topic, narration is good, only complaint is it feels a little like a fact dump in the early part of the video, rather than an analysis. Date, time place, numbers, date, time, place numbers, ect. Would like some discussion on why the Korean culture was more warm to the spread of Christianity, a bit more on how resistant the elite were, and maybe just taking more of a relaxed pace talking about it all. The later segments of the video that moved towards our current time got smoother. Otherwise, I'm a fan, and I did like the topic of interest
Nice video as always. On the topic of Chriatianity, you could talk about Christianity in Armenia, they have their own church and there are almost no videos available on this topic.
Except Presbyterians are a branch off the "downright absurd" branch of Christianity, Calvinism in Geneva. Asian branches typically stem from Jesuit teachings.
@thorskjelver8564 That isn't true at all. Presbyterianism is the biggest Christian denomination in South Korea, where catholics are outnumbered by protestants over 20-1.
I have watched many episodes from the Caspian report. The breadth of your topics is stunning and seems to come with a real understanding of the local issues
😋I thank you western Christians as a Korean Christian. Your ancestors sent many missionaries. Many of them sacrificed their life for us. I don”t believe south Korea could have done this growth without Korean Christian. Our ancestors worshiped ghosts of ancestors, buddha, shamanism, etc but they commonly believed heavenly God. So even in modern days many non-christians are aware of God the creator.

Thank you for dealing with this subject.^^ But there is an error. 1:02 Joseon offered tribute to Ming and respected Ming, but Joseon was NOT a vassal kingdom or subordinate country of Ming. Tribute was a form of international order in East Asia at the time. Ancient Japan paid tribute to Joseon. However, historians do not say that Japan was a vassal country of Joseon. Although they exchanged tribute depending on the relationship of power, they were completely different and independent countries. This is a very sensitive issue. Because the Chinese Communist Party falsely claims that ancient Korean history is subordinate to Chinese history. But this is not true. China is distorting history because they have a political purpose to justify influencing North Korea. But we Koreans have different ethnic roots from Chinese and we have kept our identity for thousands of years.. I ask you to correct this error.

That is interesting! Yeah Christians from east Asia seem to be pretty rare. Phillipines is another one too. When I first met Catholics from Korea, I couldn't believe my eyes. After spending time in China I guess I took it for granted that east asian people were not Christian. I wondered how that happened but now I know. Thanks for sharing. It is pretty interesting that the conversion was self initiated in this case.
Tom Kelly Seriously, how many Asians have you met? Outside the PRC, in the diaspora, there are quite a few Chinese Christians as well, and the 'underground' church on the mainland might be bigger than we expect. But Xi's tyrannical government is trying to tighten the screws. However missionaries are desperately needed throughout the far East, as indeed they are in the secular West. I've read that South Korea sends out more missionaries in proportion to their own population than any other country.
Great Vid! Considering patreon after this one, geopolitical takes on the various religious make up's of different nations are really valuable and rare hope you do more like this!

Interesting history! Regarding South Korea, I must say that Samsung and Hyundai are two of the greatest companies in the World. They single-handedly developed South Korea from a completely poor agrarian society to a rich industrial powerhouse. Imagine a few companies having such a significance for an entire nation. Icon conglomerates!
@John Doe Yes, that's what makes it more impressive. Prior to state funding they were minor family businesses with limited experience being put in such a precarious situation by a desperate state where the entire future of your nation relies on a few family companies. They managed to create a highly competitive and diversified industrial output at an insanely rapid pace against the odds. That's really impressive considering the circumstances. As you said the entire nation are still heavily reliant on these companies to this day. Between them, they pretty much employ 25-35% of the population if I'm not mistaken. That's extremely impressive anywhere in the World.

You don't to go a completely foreign country (of little political importance relative to China and Japan) with hardly any resources, learn the language, and suffer persecution if you didn't think it was a good idea. People will call you mad, and perhaps they're right: madly in love with God!
Many people don't realize most of the things we know about science or medicine were discovered by Christians. People always want to blame God or Christianity for the bad, yet always want to take glory for the good. They've got a mixed world view.
I have to say as an atheist I do enjoy reading up on the history of Christian priests and monks promoting education and having people voluntarily drawn to the religion as a result, like the Korean nobleman in this video. Buddhism has had a similar affect to Westerners who voluntarily flock to the religion since it seems to make sense to them and offers hidden insight.
