I was at Scottie’s best game of his career that occurred during this season. March 8, 1994 against the Hawks. Scottie had 39 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 9 steals in that game. I was 14 years old. I will always remember being there that night.

Ok now 22 ppg that’s only .6% more than his highest average with mj, 66% ft. and 3 turnovers a game? Nothing really changed that year for pip y’all reaching. Now if he would have exploded with 28-30ppg and lead the league in something I’d be convinced. He never lead the league in anything but I think steals once. Im sorry but Pip was not deserving to be a candidate . He was 23-5, he simply got the candidacy because people couldn't believe a team could lose the best player in the world and still make the playoffs. But the difference between Jordan and no Jordan was 6 finals without a game 7 and getting knocked out the playoffs in the second round. He didnt play like a MVP , not even close. Anybody who actually remembers that season will tell you that. This is just another ploy from Lebron butt boys to make a case against MJ. That team couldn't even get to the conference championship without MJ. If you think Pippen who averaged 23-5 deserved to be ahead of Shaq who was putting up 29-11 you are just a plain moron. This was a narrative storyline based situation . Nothing to do with play on the court

Lets not forget the Golden State warriors had a better record before KD got there. But is anyone dumb enough to say they were a better team? Stop it, regular season wins against bad and mediocre teams do not judge how good a team is. The playoffs do and the Bulls went from a team who got bounced out after 1 round to a team that didnt even go to game 7 in the finals with MJ. Huge fucking difference.

Giannis 6'11 with a 7'3 inch wingspan Scottie 6'8 with a 7'3 inch wingspan Now look at their frame, their lean muscle mass and you will see the similar physical structure between the two. Scottie was really Giannis of the '90s. However, Pippen had more skills than Giannis in terms of his ability to dribble, shoot and he has a higher IQ but when people say Giannis needs a Pippen he's really just like Pippen. In the 93-94 season, the Bulls only played with a pace of 92.2 which was 27th in the NBA at the time, now in comparison, the 2019-2020 Bucks averaged a pace of 105.7 which was the NBA's best. So with Pace adjusted today Pippen would average 25 points, 9 boards, 6 dimes, and ridiculous 3.3 steals in today's season which will definitely win him the DPOY award and make him an NBA MVP candidate just like Giannis is even though he won both awards! I think Giannis needs to seek out Scottie as a mentor to really help him refine his game which is still very raw. Scottie was also the first prototypical point-forwards and his game influenced players such as: Grant Hill Tracy McGrady Shawn Marion LeBron James Kevin Durant Kawhi Leonard and Giannis as I mentioned

@@allanhouston6759 Pippen played behind MJ, and he had to make the most out of a reduced role in Phil Jackson’s triangle offense that would allow Jordan to hoist up 25 to 30 shot attempts per game. That’s not his fault he never got an opportunity at leading a team. In the one full season he played without Jordan, he led a depleted Bulls team with roster deficiencies to 55 wins and a third seed. During the Bulls’ championship runs, Pippen collectively outdid Jordan in rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals.

@@justannbafan3646 pippen great but overated my friend. in the 1997 playoffs jordan carried the bulls During the 1997 Playoffs, he only had one other teammate that averaged double figures in scoring - Pippen with 19 ppg on a sub-par 42% FG. Every other Bulls teammate failed to even reach 8 ppg for the playoffs. This is the only time in history that a championship team only had 2 double digit scorers during the playoffs (Jordan and Pippen), and as far as I know it's the only time a team even made the Finals with only 2 double-digit scorers to begin with. Let that sink in for a moment, Jordan is the only player in history to lead a team to the title with only one other double-digit scorer. And even so, Pippen shot a poor 42% FG for the playoffs. But it wasn't just that Jordan had to carry a gigantic offensive load, Jordan nearly led the Bulls in all five categories - points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks - for the entirety of the 1997 Playoffs. Jordan was only 10 rebounds (0.53 rpg) and 1 block (0.05 bpg) from leading the 1997 Bulls in every category for the playoffs - at age 34 no less. And for the last 3 rounds, Jordan did in fact lead the team in 5/5 categories. Rodman and Pippen squeezed out just enough rebounds and blocks, respectively, in the 3-game first round sweep against the 44-38 Bullets to have a small edge over Jordan in those categories for the overall playoffs. But against their 3 best opponents, Jordan led the Bulls in 5/5 categories. Let's take a look at the load Jordan had to carry during the 1997 Finals in detail. Game 1 of the 1997 Finals is the only win in which Jordan had good help. Jordan had 31-4-8 on 48%, and the buzzer beater, along with 27-9-2-3-4 on 58% from Pippen. Assuming all assists are 2 points, Jordan scored/assisted 47 of 84 or 56% of team points in Game 1. From there on, Jordan nearly singlehandedly won each of the last 3 games for the Bulls. In Game 2, Pippen had 10-6-4 on a terrible 31%. Rodman only had 7 rebounds in 25 minutes, and Harper was the only other double digit teammate with 13-2-4 on 50%. Jordan carried the team with 38-13-9-2 on 55%, leading them in points, rebounds, and assists by a large margin. He had almost triple the points of his next leading scorer (38 to 13), almost double the rebounds of the next rebounder (13 to 7) and more than double the next-leading player in assists (9 to 4). Assuming all assists are 2 points, Jordan scored/assisted 56 of 97 or 58% of team points in Game 2. The Jazz won Games 3 and 4 to tie the series at 2-2. In Game 5, the Flu Game, Jordan carried a huge load again. Pippen had 17 pts but on a horrible 29% FG. Pippen also had 5 assists to 3 turnovers and 4 fouls. Kukoc was the only other Jordan teammate in double figures with 12.

Although it took Toni several months to adjust to the NBA game, it was obvious from the start that Tobi would be a great fit for the team bc of his high basketball IQ. Many in retrospective leave Toni out of the spotlight, always talk about the big three in MJ, Pip and Rodman. Toni was probably as important as Rodman, could also have been a franchise player on another team..

Michael Jordan unlocked Scottie Pippen's full potential in being one of the toughest defenders 1-4 and one of the best facilitators in the 90s and Scottie Pippen unlocked Jordan's potential of being the most unstoppable scorer and one of the most relentless players on the court. Playing one on one made it that much more competitive in practice, so in the game, these dudes would just destroy the opposition. One of the best duos ever. @@checa160 according to BJ, Scottie was the on-court leader even when Mike was there. I'd postulate that the same reason Worthy led LA in scoring instead of Magic is because Magic had to push point. The same goes for Scottie in addition to him being assigned to guard the other team's most dangerous player. Versus Orlando, he had to try to stay in front of The Penny. Versus LA, he had to stick Ervin Johnson. Versus Portland, he was guarding Dumas half the time and the other half, he was covering the league's fat, high jumping, big butt bullying, long shooting MVP: Charles Barkley. Then again, Scottie wouldn't have it any other way. After, he's really a 6'2" point guard who shot up half a foot at age 19

@@JamusChristus I agree. Magic in LA was a game creator, not a scorer probably. So it’s a different situation. In Chicago, the whole team suposedly played around MJ. That’s why I “call” him “the leader”. But it’s probably easier being a leader when you have Pippen beside you, doing de dirty jobs in defense and always ready to score when your options fail. I’ve always thought MJ is the best ever in marketing. By far. He is the only one able to manage the situation in wich he always say he wouldn’t have done it without the team yet nobody credits the team “if MJ wasn’t there”. So in the end he is the one always…and everything turns still around him and only him… I mean, it looks like the bulls is the only team in which people “has to go out and defend” Pippen’s or Kukoc’s or Kerr’s or every other one’s achievements or merits to the point of an Aussie tv doing a documentary to tell the people that Luke Longley was there as well, cause he didn’t appear in the last dance…and even this way, MJ said in a “theatrical” way that Luke was important and bla bla bla(it’s to me difficult to believe there was no budget to call the guy or even go down under and meet him for the documentary). Everything in that bulls looks like MJ and those other average players to most part of the people. And that sucks to me. I don’t see that in the showtime Lakers or Bird’s Celtics, Shaq and Penny’s Magic, some of the big threes…etc. Nobody needs to defend Wade, or Gasol, or plenty of other ones in winning teams except for the bulls. It’s sad. Mainly when we talk about one of the best players ever in this case. Cheers

Miller noted that Godson (Pippen's nickname among opposing teams) is the only player who could only have 6pts and still be in total control of the whole game. Wow you actually believe he was way more mature. Not to mention when Jordan was putting up 45 a night in the playoffs figuring out how to win. Pippen was adding what 5 -7 -10 maybe. iI he could even play with his migraine or vagina hurting. He looked really mature in that playoff game vs New York when he wouldn't leave the bench, or when Xavier McDaniel was about to make him his girlfriend in the 92 series. 1990 a baller? Game 7 vs Detroit ECF Pippen 2 points. 2 points in 42 minutes played. Hell Horace Grant outplayed Pippen that night. Pippen became Pippen because he practiced, guarded, and learned from Jordan . Pippen was a unknown when he was drafted, and took him along time to become confident enough to let his talents come forward. And don't think for a second, he was more mature. This is a player who was warned by teammates even the guy who wrote the check not to take the deal he took then whined about and threatened to leave and hold off till season started to get surgery to punish ownership. Pippen was a baby. Don't forget it was him that ended that dynasty. Phil was caught up in the middle but by the end Pippen was bitter and thought he was good enough to do it on his own. Ya that worked out. Did he even average over twelve points a game the six years after he left? And typical Biatch move go join the rockets. Who were already stacked with talent. Like KD joining the nuggets.

I consider Scottie Pippen like MJ bro, he got 6 titles too and he's an absolute legend. MJ and Pippen were unstoppable, I take them over everybody, maybe Kobe and Shaq was that kind of unstoppable, and I'm not debating on it right now. But to those who say the reason MJ is the goat is because of Pippen, please, tell me how many championship did Pippen won without MJ.

@@teresa-oj9rq That doesn't make any sense. Jordan and Pippen basically merged in their prime. The season pippen joined the Bulls, he was just a rookie. @@justannbafan3646 It was not the end of the season. Bulls were 34-31. They went 18-4 with MJ's return and they were a 7th seed and on a losing streek in danger of missing the playoffs entirely. Injuries did not affect the team because they had a new line up. Where do you get your info from? Toni Kuco, Steve Kerr, Luc Longley, Pete Myers, were all new to that line up. Where do you get that false info from?
@justannbafan3646

@@workingman5739 This sounds like some more Michael Jordan mythology to make him seem better than he really was. Typical of his cultist following. The Bulls were a #6 seed in the East, nowhere near in danger of missing the playoffs, and their 13-4 record had almost nothing to do with Jordan. The Bulls were on an 8-2 win streak at the time in their last ten games before him and it was because they were becoming a healthier team. The Bulls were dealing with injuries and roster deficiencies to their front court for most, all of the season. The Bulls lost Horace Grant who was offered big money to go to Orlando, lost Bill Cartwright to age and injuries (catalyst and key player of the Bulls first 3 peat), lost Scott Williams to free agency, and lost Luc Longley to a freak accident that sidelined him for 2 to 3 months. The Bulls were a one-man, small ball lineup that struggled to find team chemistry. Pippen had to lead the team in every major statistical category and had to be their best perimeter / paint defender for most of the season, anchoring a top four defensive team. Once the Bulls started getting healthier in the middle of the season, they started playing better. Even with MJ coming back, the Bulls still had a huge weak spot at PF which Orlando (and Horace Grant) exploited in the playoffs, then they started “dominating” again after pulling a lopsided trade for Dennis Rodman so their team could be unfairly stacked like it was before. then the Bulls improved from 47 to 72 wins, no thanks to MJ.
@workingman5739

@@justannbafan3646 My point was this, people claim Scottie was the reason for MJ's success because of his 55 plus win season. Some even falsely claim that he made it to the semi finals without MJ which isn't true. And just like you mentioned, he still had the championship team that MJ drove to champion status. When Pip got his own team they were in danger of not making the playoffs, which proves my point. Scottie only averaged over 20 ppg twice in the playoffs with the most he ever averaged being 22ppg. The most he ever averaged was 22ppg in the regular season and only had 4 seasons averaging over 20ppg in regular season. 16ppg for his career. I understand he did some other things but MJ wasn't far behind in the other things Scottie was able to do PLUS, was a far superior more efficient scorer in both regular season and playoffs.

I have absolutely no idea why he doesn't get more props for how well and often he used the bank shot. TD gets all the props for that shot, when arguably, Pippen used it more often, and from different and further angles.

Yeees! I've been waiting for this! Some new (yup,again) suggestions: Gary Payton 96, Lebron 18, Kobe 09, Amare Stoudemire any season from 07-11 (I can't decide which one I like the most) I think for goat szn videos for players from the 80s or 90s, if there isn't enough footage from one season, you could make a video of great multi-year runs, like Larry Bird's 3-year MVP run 84-86, or Patrick Ewing 90-93 or Clyde Drexler 89-92 I also have a potential series suggestion: a goat duel series

@@actionjacksonfive8775 _In 1991 Scottie had signed a five-year extension to his contract for $18 million, which had seemed like a good deal at the time. However, since then wages had skyrocketed in the NBA; and now there were more than a hundred players making more than Scottie, including five members of his own team. So even though many considered him to be the _*_best player in the NBA not named Jordan_*_ , he would have to wait another year, until his contract ran out, to cash in on his performance.
