No cop is going to know all of them, they're taught the most important and common ones but drone flight isn't exactly problem for the law so genreally most cops don't know it. I'm impressed the cop actually was willing to talk and try and learn instead of just slapping on the cuffs and finding out later.

I found it interesting that he made a moral argument, rather than a legal argument, e.g., whether he would be bothered if someone filmed his house and vehicle. I found two problems with this: (a) filming a persons house is covered under residential laws, i.e., voyeurism could be inferred, viz., false equivalence with business premises, and (b) if that person filming the house / vehicle was standing in a public place, then it would be just to respect their right to engage in lawful activity in a public place.

The fact is, if it is visible in a public place, it can be filmed. Number plates are not private and they are, by definition, publicly visible.

@@tobysherring1369yes, the DVLA introduced a compulsory font a few decades ago for all number plates in UK. The font was analysed, tested and released with the aim of making number plates more easily read. The constable's comments are nothing short of complete and utter buffoonery.

Damn right Bob,,,, someone slightly bumped into the back of my parked car and walked off leaving the car touching my bumper which caused damaged I didn't wanted to phone 999 as I thought its not really a emergency so phoned 101 all I got told was try find the owner and swapped insurance details. Even though I told her I live in a street with blocks of flats and I am disabled and can't walk up stairs but she wouldn't have it. Because I live on ground floor flat at the back I couldn't keep a look out for that driver. I now been left £100 short due to the insurance access fee, .....So PC Twerp No you don't always come out when you get a call. Oh Yeah I never seen that car before and not seen it since and never found out who the person was but I know often people park up and walk to the pub around the corner which makes me think was that driver already over the drink drive limit ?
