When someone starts a serious conversation way too soon after you meet them 

well, at least they (usually) talk about something related to whatever they're commenting under and you're not stuck having to listen to them because you can just scroll past it

I remember that evening like it was yesterday. A breezy Autumn day as the sun began to set. My parents had been divorced for well over 3 years now, and while I, like many young children, blamed myself before, as I grew older I realized it wasn't my fault. The house I grew up in never truly felt like a home. I never felt safe, I remember vividly the sudden shift in atmosphere whenever my father came home from work. The house, namely myself and my 2 siblings and mother, would all be having a grand ol' ball doing whatever we were doing, then we'd hear the jangle of keys and the slow turn of our front door's lock. We'd all go silent instantly and stop whatever we were doing. If it was watching TV, TV went off, if we were at the dinner table doing something together, we'd all scatter back into our rooms. There we would stay as our parents began duking it out in the living room over whatever parents argued over back then. But that was basically every day normal for me. On this particular day, it happened to be my birthday. I always felt this day was the exception to the rule. Not even ol pops would treat me harshly on my birthday. But I couldn't be more wrong...

talking to total stranger anonymously whom you know you would never see again is quite soothing

@@Rozveree that is how I made some of my best friends. Though to be completely honest, I usually start with the relative small talk about how society is designed to set kids up for failure when it comes to mental health (especially with how the school-to-work pipeline is set up), and how unfair systems will continue to oppress people as long as people prioritize their family over strangers (the primary mechanism that I believe is responsible for the continuation of racism, classism, and xenophobia). If they are still willing to talk to me 30 minutes later, then we move past the small talk and start discussing the nature of existence and the inevitability of death.

In the US, we don't really tell people about our personal problems, except close family, it's considered rude, plus it's really awkward, and people who are attention seekers will try and out do one another.

@@thelostpsychosis its not just a US thing, in most modern society meeting a stranger and instantly delving into personal problems is NOT OK (unless it's a therapist), and that includes most of Europe

Yeah, as much as its easy to hate on these kinds of people, you're right about them probably not having anyone to talk to. Its hard though sometimes, having to listen to an hour long vent about their lives when Ive got something to do but dont wanna seem rude and excuse myself immediately.
