I didn't know the drummer since I'm not English ando I found out the news about he was dead in google. A real shame because he was so young and he did a terrific job
I was fortunate enough to have seen the Page and Plant tour in the 90's. They played two of Robert Plant's songs, two of Jimmy Page's songs and the rest of the show was just Led Zeppelin.....it was amazing! 😎🎸
Seen em in The Burgh (Pittsburgh Pa) in 98. I was 25, one of those Itll never happen in your life Moments. The ONLY concert I didnt Sneak closer to the stage for. Up in the risers, but dead in front of stage, Beer stand always empty 20 ft away....pisser always empty 15 ft away....no Security patrol EVER...I just sat,Smoked and drank the night away. It was like watchin em perform in my backyard "private show" feel with nobody around
So Gabby comes running up and says you gotta hear this new album. I go to his house and he whips out this LP with the Hindenburg on the cover. From the 1st 4 bars of Good Times, Bad Times I was hooked. 50 yrs later, still love 'em!
He is telling a very important story. If it keeps on raining, the levee is going to break and crying won't help you and praying won't do you no good. The symbolism and literalism of this, is off the grid.
Oh man! I remember watching this video about 11/12 years ago when I was only 6, my uncle showed me this song and I was just blown away and especially by the drummer, who was my inspiration for drums before I switched to guitar. I remember listening to it over and over again trying to "learn" the turns that Michael Lee did, and to this day I'm enchanted, that's when I got to know Led Zeppelin's songs and consequently I entered the world of rock for good, despite having heard it many times before.
Miami Arena here. Hell, the building has long been torn down but this Grouping is LEGEND! Had set up Tour Rehearsals for The Firm in Tampa and had great fortune of drinking with Page and Rodgers a couple nights while they were in town. Nothing but humble here... #Rock&Roll
The greatest COVER band of all time. Most of their early stuff was written and performed by someone else originally, which I think is the definition of "cover band". But they did improve all of those songs massively, Dazed and Confused especially (where in 2012 they finally even gave poor old Jake Holmes some credit for the original, just the 43 years later, having pocketed millions along the way). When the Levee Breaks was originally recorded in the 1920s, and I believe they credited the original artist from the get-go on that occasion ... although by then they were already wealthy, of course, and could afford to pay some royalties to someone else. Again, a fantastic cover version ,vastly superior to the original. A truly awesome cover band.
"Led Zep just did them better than anyone" Agreeed. 100% agreed. That's why I used the word "greatest". They're not just any old cover band. Out of interest, what's your definition of a cover band? The Oxford English Dictionary says it means: "A band whose repertoire consists of versions of songs by other artists rather than original material." Sounds about right to me. Obviously, someone will be the best at "knicking (sic) those old blues songs" (not that Jake Holmes was really a old blues singer, they more robbed a contemporary artist in his case), earming them the title "greatest". I'd love to hear your definition.
I meant to add this link too, to "Led Zeppelin's 10 Boldest Rip-Offs": www.rollingstone.com/music/news/led-zeppelins-10-boldest-rip-offs-20160622 Rolling Stone Magazine knows a LOT more about music than I do. Somehow, I suspect they klnow a bit more than you do too, but feel free to dissect their arguments if you wish.
Speechless, love Percy, always have, from 17, still do, nothing has changed. The voice, the hair!!!!! I know this was some time ago but he still has it. :)
Saw Led Zeps first U.S. tour, 1968 in the old Boston Garden. They were selling their second album instead of t-shirts and stuff. Cool because it hadn't been released yet (released soon after, but, hey. Only one in my dorm with Zep II; priceless.
So cool....I was born in 68 lol. Led in my opinion is the best band ever...I didnt discover them until the 80s and I've been rockin them ever since....I once drove 3/4 of the way across the U S A. 25 straight hours and Zeppelin kept me going....I'm pretty sure it was a spiritual experience.

There is no doubt that Levee was Bonzo's but man Mike Lee deserves a lot of credit for his time with Plant and Page. The guy is seriously underrated. He hits hard and Page made light of that in several interviews. RIP Mike Lee, another great one gone
Zep were Zep , Page and Plant were Page and Plant , O2 reunion stupendous.....Love it all and thank you for almost 5 decades of sublime music...Loved being at Knebworth...
