This right here is hot rodding 101. Buying a motor with a large sump oil pan always seems like a great idea. Until it doesn't fit.... One of my few gripes with a tri 5 Chevy is the steering design. The steering is all behind the front cross member which causes oil pan and exhaust clearance issues.
A common fix is using a Chevy 2 oil pan, but that costs money and time. The new mill came with a over size Morosso deep sump pan that just needed a little trimming.
So in this video we rebuild the front steering, then cut and weld the oil pan to clear everything. You want an old car? These are the problems you'll encounter daily!
This 1955 Chevy Nomad is well on it's was from beat to sweet!
