Hey Alex, suggestion... because most of the grocery stores have trucks drop products off... i have never seen a huge grocer that didn't have room to park a rig behind it or along side so noone can park in front or block you in. You might need to walk a bit farther but .... you can get in and out no stress. As long as your not blocking an entrance or access to drop off points. Walmart, has the biggest lots but most RVs.

@@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY Hmm... odd.. do you need to call them if you use your personal vehicle? The grocers on California and Utah i know for sure have huge areas behind them for rigs to park. Not just to back up to unload but along a wall, open curb or backup area. My cousin is a trucker, well now he has his own business, with a low boy? And such? Isn't that the low set trailer to put tractor's on and such? He's based outa Santa Clarita Ca. But he use to travel for months, then overnight trips where they trade off vehicles then returned home after a night in a motel. Theyd make a stop in Vegas to pick up or drop a trailer. In California i think its a 2 trailer max, but leaving Nv to Utah was 3. I see you have the huge trailer though. He had that too but traded it for the other business deal and the overnight driving was 2x a week. So he ran a business and drove for both for a long time.

My son almost got into trucking but found he couldn't leave me for long. I had a cpl major cervical surgeries and now i rarely drive or anything. He knew it was going to happen so he went to auto tech school but couldn't get ASE cert.. Yet I taught him automotive lessons early as in by 2. Lol. Yeah.. i dun growd up wit 5 bruders. Lol. Only girl, 2nd youngest.. sooo.. started with them assuming i wasn't paying attention to ... well my husband saw the movie.."My cousin Vinnie " and said.. She was me.. well not Italian though. Lol. Soooo. . By HS my sons teachers loved him in auto shop.. then ironically those same teachers were running the new built tech school in BFE Utah. You do know what BFE means i hope?

I swear, people block you in on purpose.. that's why I always look to situate myself where I have a backup plan if I do get trapped. Also I try to make it hard for tow trucks to be able to get in front of my truck whenever possible ( you know, in case your 20 minutes run into the store turns into a power-tripping manager calling a tow truck and reporting you've been parked there for 5 days).

That’s where your dash came can help you out and take pictures of your truck an anyone or stuff around you or you could just call an ask for a manager before you go there I usually avoid the drama an just call an ask but most Walmart’s let you park long enough to get food 👍

I dunno about that. I don't think much of a semi when I go into a parking lot. They're professional drivers, they can figure it out. I shouldn't have to think about if I'm blocking them or not when I'm just casually going to buy groceries near my house. I would never park near a semi anyway just because they're enormous and would obliterate my car if they so much as tapped it, but I SINCERELY doubt most people maliciously block semi trucks. They probably just don't understand what they're doing.

Usually if someone in a car accidentally blocks us in they’re usually going to leave in about 30min to an hour so not that big a deal but usually I’ll park way out an to the left most cars know we park there an most are nice enough to not park out there by us anyways I mean from the opposite perspective if I’m driving my pickup I’m parking as close to the doors as possible an most do so not too many issues usually 😂👍

I'm by no means a trucker but I operate a mobile crane. My boss and I will go to a store or somewhere for lunch and the sheer amount of times weve been blocked in by people who had much better parking options is astonishing.

Many car drivers are a-holes. When driving my car it astounds me how often, in a near empty grocery store parking lot (I do most of my shopping very early, before 8am, or very late, 8pm or later) someone will park directly in front of my car (in a double row of spaces), so I can't drive straight out, OR park so close _behind_ me that there isn't room to push the cart to empty it. The same is true at Lowe's and Home Depot, where I will often park my pick-up _facing out_ of a double space, to give me room behind to load 2x's, cement, sheet materials, _etc.,_ only to find that some nitwit has parked right up behind me!!! .... It is particularly bizarre because my F250 is about 2ft longer than a standard parking space, so if someone parks behind they only have about 3/4 of a space and are either driving a very small car, or they parked sticking waaay out of the parking space at the other end. .... And as noted above, this is typically happening in a mostly empty parking lot.

Tip from a fellow rook, talk with your dispatcher when you do a 34 hour reset and remain a bobtail or call the local Walmart, Publix, Kroger etc. And ask if they have a dock door open that they aren't using. Most places have no issue allowing you to park at a dock door to finish your shopping. Also some Midwest Walmarts have truck parking available and if all else fails, use Uber grocery shopping; if available. Staf safe bud.

If you do decide to get your CDL and drive, stay away from Swift, Werner, CR England, and I wanna say JB Hunt. Those bottom feeding carriers will not teach you how to truly survive in the trucking industry and will let you drive off with minimal training and experience without worrying about your safety. Try looking up some of the best training you can get from other entry level freight companies. You won't get top dollar, but you'll learn the trade and equip yourself with valuable experience that will take you anywhere that pays better.

Many trucking companies hire felons (if the offense is not drug or alcohol related or violent), so if you're interested you should go for it. Some companies will pay for your schooling (approx $6000) if you agree to work for them for a year. Being used to being alone definitely works in your favor.

Alot of grocery stores have posted no truck signs and will boot them, so I look for that first, also, alot of docks are on the sides not in the back of the stores so I usually park near the dock out of the way and it's also not too long a walk.

I see none of this in Finland. Usually there is a large area in the back of a larger supermarkets parkinglot for trucks. You can see 34.5 meter (~113 feet) trucks parked there usually.

I once parked at a Walmart that was next to a school. Big mistake. I had my reset there on a Sunday and it seemed fine. When Monday rolled around... all these kids had parked thier cars right next to my massive semi-truck. This was like my 3rd week of driving. Lol So I had to carefully needle my truck around these kids cars. Boy was that nerve racking.

All Walmarts get delivery’s, follow the delivery signs to the back there’s always plenty of room in the back of the stores just stay out of the way of the docks. I deliver Walmarts just a little tip.

Had to do it several times. If there is any doubt, just drop the trailer and pull forward several feet. If someone parks in front of you, you’ll have room when you back up under the trailer again. 😉

Always maneuver your truck in 2 getting out, when you arrive. Don't wait till you do your business and expect to get out. Also, all grocery stores can accommodate big trucks, otherwise, they wouldn't have groceries to sell. Now weather you can park there is another story. Lol

"All grocery stores can accommodate big trucks", is technically true, but many of them have enough room to accommodate one or two 18-wheelers _making deliveries_ but there is certainly *not* enough room to accommodate Mr Random Truck Driver shopping for groceries. The only groceries in the town near where I live that _might_ have room to park an 18-wheeler are ones that are part of a much larger retail development, such as including a movie theater or Lowes, and even then you're depending on there being a row of 10-12 unoccupied parking spaces.

Here's an advice from a dedicated Walmart driver, you can go behind almost all Walmarts or sam's clubs, there's always space to park for a quick shop. Most of them are big enough to accommodate 53' trailers, not all of them though, go to super centers. I read someone said park at the WM dock, please do not do that.

I either bobtail or get to a market early and out think the car drivers, park in such a way (the nose of the truck taking up half another parking spot) so that when I pull out cars can’t block me in.

I’m a trucker another secret sometimes works is if your at Walmart they will have docks at the back which usually means they have way more room there so just go stand in the back by the docks

Easy, I always plan grocery shopping at Walmart first thing in the morning when the parking lot is empty

There should be plenty of space to park near the dock, (delivery area in back). Just try timing your shopping after receiving hours. Also, back in to your spot. That way, you won't have to back out to leave. And if you have to stage at a warehouse waiting to unload, they'll usually let you drop your trailer to go off property briefly. Just be sure to get back on time.

Alex, tip if you wished to keep your truck as clean as possible inside since you live out of your truck. Drive with out shoes, so pretty much use your shoes boots ect only when you need to step out. Awesome videos BTW

I been seeing your videos we have bought this great one burner stove comes in its own little suitcase. , it uses a propane can that looks like a spray can and your slide this can in the of the stove, you slide the switch down and whala you have a gas stove you adjust the flame and start 🍳. They cost about $20.00 the can is about $5.00. Be safe out there.😊

@@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY my husband has a horrible time in the States. We live in Canada so I pack as much frozen food etc as I can send. The company truck doesn’t have a freezer. He does take other food down but when he’s gone weeks at a time it’s not good. He gets what he can at truck stops and orders groceries in if they will deliver to where he is. Trucking isn’t easy!

My dude you should get a refillable 6 gallon water jug, or 2 at any outdoor store or probably at Walmart too. Can be filled at pretty much any major grocery chain.
