Welcome back to Boxing After Dark. In today's video we look a the showdown between two greats of the boxing ring, Adrien Broner and Marcos Maidana in a bout that turned out to be legendary
It truly was. That was a terrible, terrible mistake by Broner. Two things you DON'T want to do to any South American (or Central American, Caribbean Hispanic, or [ESPECIALLY!] a Mexican) is 1) Disrespect their flag, and 2) Get on some gay shit in front of a crowd.
Oof, that shot of Broner crying as he ran out of the ring with fans throwing drinks at him might have been one of the most satisfying images in boxing history.
@@RootsMusic-ek5ncI found it easy to not respect a guy that head butts, tries to hump his opponent and runs from the ring after the fight. No post fight questions? Whatsa matter, haven't been shy about talking before?
I loved watching this fight. Maidana rearranged Broner's face and hit him so hard that he literally gave him an attitude adjustment. Broner was NEVER the same after this.
this was the fight that showed that AB wasnt as good as of a counter-puncher as he thought he was, and for some reason, he relied on it even more as he got older... He just didn't have a tool bag he could dig deep into when plans didnt go accordingly
Broner pretending to fuck them him doing it back and beating and pretty mush ending his career 🤣🤣🤣 love it when dudes like that their fragile ego destroyed, if you stay humble no matter how good you are you can come back from it with no issues its when the ego becomes so big that when it gets hurt it's game over for them . A true warrior is defined by his losses not his wins , how they react to defeat is what makes them a true warrior. Broner isn't a true warrior he was just lucky till that point.
@@joshgen8533dude has 5 losses and two of them being Mayweather being his last 2 fights. He was a great boxer but I did wish he fought some of the other greats during that era like Mosley, cotto, pacman, de la Hoya ect
@@djdeemz7651Saying a boxer got lucky in their career because they don’t share the same little virtues as you is extremely cringe. Get some self awareness. Who are you to define a true warrior? You’re just a random kid on RU-vid who is mad that people aren’t as passive and meek as you
Exactly what I was thinking. I was expecting 2 round knock fight after the first knock down, this was an excellent fight that went the distance. far from a humiliation.
because Broner as the A-side was allowed to foul and stop the action whenever Maidana was gaining momentum. Any other fighter would have gotten point deductions for constantly refusing to engage.
@@markwarren7116 Lol relax there nancy. It's a fight, it's shitty and disrespectful thing to do but should be punished accordingly. Banned for life is utterly retarded. (and I can't stand broner and would love if I never saw him again) It's something that basically embarrasses the moron doing it more than anyone.....it's not even remotely as bad as an intentional low blow or other foul that actually can make a difference and hurt someone. How goddamn sensitive are you that you can watch boxing (where they're literally giving each other brain damage in real time) but something that insignificant makes you freak and clutch your pearls? You even think before saying that stupid shit?
I give it first equal with Maidana getting his own hump in.. Boner lives and dies on ego, so that must have hurt nearly as much as getting thrown in the Maidana 3000 Wood Chipper.
This fight never gets old especially after all the crap that Broner was spitting in the lead up to the fight. His attitude towards Maidana was one of utter disrespect. He never took the fight seriously enough and he got found out big time. Glorious!
I'M AMAZED HE WAS STILL STANDING AT THE END -- HE DID HIT MAIDANA WITH SOME GOOD SHOTS BUT MAN MAIDANA HIT HIM WITH A BUNCH OF STUFF THAT I THOUGHT WERE GONNA KNOCK HIM OUT -- HE LITERALLY BEAT THE STUFFING OUT OF THE GHETTO RAT
Did you see Broner sexually assaulted a woman in a mall in Atlanta. He was shitfaced drunk. His life sure went down the toilet, and now he’s a real gangsta.
Facts ..a loss...big time loss at that wasn like it came down to cards...he got his mf ass beat and I think this fight was ppv...but it clearly separated Floyd from ab which was really what ab thought he was gon do was pass Floyd but this loss made that impossible and he never accepted the loss frfr
Not only that …the outside life the one destroyed his reputation….throwing money at the Walmart and, throwing money in the roads …doing many unnecessary things…he were too busy seeking diiick and, attention…
How did it kill his career? He only lost to really good fighters and he was never knocked out. I do not like him but that is the truth. He is still fighting just won on June 9th.
Don't let Broner's inflated sense of self-importance overshadow he was a great boxer until he moved up high enough in weight to where his power was no longer there. Of course his extreme narcissism really showed when he lost.
@@Salieri47 PISS POOR PERFORMANCE by mayweathers boy! Why didn't his coaches and his gym recognize this? mayweather arrogant narcissistic display of piss poor camp, gym and "ain't I the hot dog"! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💩🖕
I remember this fight. What surprised me the most was Mai's intensity, pace and power that persisted relentlessly for the whole fight. That was some serious heart and stamina.
@@edgardovillacorte7012maydaiana had an 26 percent punch percent against Floyd 221/856 to Floyd’s 230/426 and that’s 54 percent compared to maidana 26 so stop with the bull saying he won how did he if he landed less and lost the later rounds
@@edgardovillacorte7012You have no business ever scoring another boxing match again. I can’t believe someone can be so far off the mark. I don’t even know what to think about you or how to engage because your opinion is so idiotic in left to believe that you’re being dishonest, because nobody is truly that dumb. First fight Floyd let him corner him so many times and still the only shots Maidana landed were on the gloves or to the back of Floyd’s head. Still Floyd took early rounds and pretty much every later round, even for the judges/commentators who were counting punches for Maidana that didn’t land Second fight he showed that Maidana couldn’t corner him and that it only happened in the first fight because Floyd allowed him to.
I remember watching this fight when it happened. Every so often I come back and watch it because this was the most satisfying beat down I’ve ever seen. Maidana absolutely dismantled a Broner like he had no business being there, and before the fight broner thought he was king shit and the hardest thing to hit this earth. To top it all off, Broner LITERALLY cried and ran off. Not even making that up, he actually cried and fled the scene. It was THAT bad. What a fight and well deserved humbling experience for Broner.
Broner had undoubted talent, and this fight he shows that he had a chin and the will to fight on. If he had just been more disciplined and humble he could have went further in the sport. But he bought into his own hype, didn't take his opponents seriously and has never been the same after this loss.
Exactly how I feel, everyone bashes ab for his attitude but at the end of the day that was him, in this fight he showed he has a warrior spirit but if he would have just trained harder and took this fight more seriously he could of had a chance but what bro above me said to he should have let those lighting fast hands go
@@OfficialGetmoneyboyz I agree with you completely. It's pretty sad how people who have never met AB take him so personally. I can guarantee that it wasn't nearly as personal between the two fighters in the ring.
Dude, you talk like if Maidana was your average Joe with no important fights won and Broner just lose the fight for not showing up to practice the previous day
I agree some of his fights I feel like they favored mayweather for money and promotion purposes. Some of the fights he actually lost. But you know money talks
No it wasn’t. Watching it live, it looked closer than it was because of the Maidana roughhousing. Watch it again without commentator influence and you’ll see Mayweather picked him apart.
@@KEN_313 I guess you haven’t been watching his whole career. Go look what he did yesterday and tell me he doesn’t deserve what he gets. The man went to an interview drunk af and you wonder why he gets what he deserves? You must have a thing for him to even question why he took that “L” vs Maidana lol
@@johnrobinson1140yes but people love the prince and to this day he still makes me smile when I see him. On the other hand we all just wanted someone to shut AB fat mouth up. We got it four times.
Yeah he had this knack of throwing smooth sequences of big looping shots that all came from unpredictable angles. Like each shot could come from anywhere within the 360 degrees. Must have been a nightmare to cover up against him once he got going
The way you accept a loss and how you react to defeat is a reflection of your character.. and Broner running out the building, while crying like a coward and sore loser says all you need to know about the type of person he is.
Just before the fight, Maidana's manager told him, "See that guy you're gonna fight? He's the guy that stole your bicycle when you were a little muchacho... wha'choo gonna do?" And the rest is history.
Because of people like you Floyd millions and AB was on his way to the billions but he just lacked discipline like Mayweather or he would’ve accomplished almost what Floyd accomplished. Alcohol and partying was the end of his career.
It must have been 5 layers to create your intro. Kudos that you pack so much information in about 12 to 13 minutes per video. Not everyone can execute stories and narrations with such impact in short amounts of time like so. They've tried in the 50 minute mark with advertisements on TV. They have tried to condense it into 22 minute marks with advertisement in so called "shorts". Well done
Broner's biggest downfall was thinking he was like Floyd. AB was hella fast and accurate but would only throw to counter instead of creating pressure. When your main criticism was you not letting your hands go and you... and you never listened, just showed the delusion you thought you could win like Floyd.
@@chrisruiz1215thing is Floyd has mastered offense and defense. When he needs to come forward and fight in the pocket he can (vs Mosley and vs Canelo). Broner was ok with having 1 game plan and it was his undoing.
Warching this fight a few times now, I could not believe how hard Maidana was hitting Broner. And he hit him with those hard power punches a lot. He hit him with the overhand right so often, and the left hook to the body, then to the side of the head... No wonder Broner had to be helped from the ring back to his dressing room. He got hit with so many big punches, I can understand how he was dazed and completely out of it. Broner looked like he could barely walk on the way back to his dressing room. Congrats to Maidana!
After YEARS of watching boxing, so many disappointments, bad decisions, cheating fighters, corrupt judges, protected fighters and fighters that claim greatness despite a career of cherry picking, SOMETIMES boxing gets it right. Broner found out that night that Maidana was something he will NEVER be. A TRUE fighter in every sense.
They're both true boxers. You don't get the straps Broner did by not being a true boxer. Maybe he's not a good sport, but his talent was undeniable. Learn to separate temperament from ability.
