Aging is an inevitable part of life, and everyone hopes for a secure and happy later life. However, not all elderly people get their wishes fulfilled. In this video, we share four essential principles to help you avoid being resented by your children and ensure a joyful and peaceful old age.
🔹 Have Sufficient Savings: It's important to save enough for your retirement instead of giving away all your savings to your children. This will ensure you have financial security in case of emergencies or health issues.
🔹 Have a Stable Residence: Owning your own home, no matter how modest, ensures you have a place to call your own and a refuge to return to, providing peace of mind and stability.
🔹 Maintain Good Health: Taking care of your health is crucial. A healthy lifestyle not only enhances your quality of life but also prevents you from becoming a burden to your children.
🔹 Live Your Own Life Well: Stay self-reliant and avoid over-dependence on your children for tasks you can manage yourself. This fosters mutual respect and reduces potential resentment.
Join us as we delve into these valuable insights, sharing real-life examples and practical advice to help you navigate your later years with dignity and happiness.

Parents should NOT be a burden to their children ! Grown up children should NOT be a burden to their parents !
@BuddhaZenWishdom
@BuddhaZenWishdom 29 дней назад
Absolutely, you've highlighted a crucial point. It's important for both parents and grown-up children to strive for independence and mutual respect. Parents should plan for their retirement and take steps to ensure they're not reliant on their children for support. Similarly, grown-up children should take responsibility for their own lives and not become a burden to their parents. By fostering independence and mutual respect, families can maintain healthy relationships and ensure the well-being of all members. Thank you for sharing this insightful perspective.

My grandfather had emphysema, so as not to be a financial or medical burden on his children, he committed suicide. My mother was pregnant with me, her first child. She was heartbroken that he didn't stay around to meet me. I've carried the depression for her all my life. Now I'm developing COPD. I'm living in a dusty environment and can't keep my house clean. My son is trying to find a way to bring me into his family life. I have reservations about living with them, because our lifestyles are very different. His terms would include my selling my house and investing in his property. I feel apprehensive about that. Of course I don't want to be a burden or take advantage of my children, even though the offer may be attractive. I'm just not sure we could get along together for more than a week! Then, where would I go after investing everything in him? Besides, I have another son to consider in this as well.
@Coryraisa
@Coryraisa 23 дня назад
@@victoryamartin9773 Wow, that is sad that your grandfather felt as if he had no other options but to kill himself. There is such a thing today as planning with your own income and having good health coverage so you can have professionals take care of your medical needs. And you do _NOT_ "have to" go along with what your son wants. You _do_ have other options, even if you are seriously ill. I suspect that it would be a bad idea for you to give up your home and to move in with either of your sons, who are not medically trained. Get medical professionals to help you with your medical issues. In many cases, you can have trained home health aides come to your home to take care of you.

Unfortunately children these days are influenced by the internet ,blogs ,videos etc and it all causes mass selfishness . Not all children are like it , of course , but the vast majority only really bother with their parent/s or grand parents when they want something and rarely consider if there is anything their parent/s or grand parents would like . The Golden Rule of the Holy Bible scriptures doesn't even exist in the thoughts of most kids . It's all about themselves . Yet it's no doubt how their parent/s raised them ... always putting them first (although I acknowledge that not all parent/s are good ones and their kids suffer because of it .) 1 Corinthians 10 : 24 Let each one keep seeking , not his own advantage , but that of the other person . Philippians 2 : 4 " Look out not only for your own interests , but also for the interests of others ."

I'm very lucky n blessed .I'm a government pensioner, have a good monthly income, my medical issues all taken care of by the government, no savings, living with my only daughter who doesn't expect anything from me, just take care of myself and have a relaxing time and I also have a responsible son who gives me money for my expenses, wants me to stay with him when I feel like it. They have children of their own who care for me, too. All these I'm enjoying is after all the trials and tribulations I've been through during my younger days. My children have seen me going through hell so they are making my life a heaven, before I leave earth.... Thank God! God bless my children, grandchildren, friends and family who have been a great support in my life. Thank my parents for bringing me up with an education enough to become a teacher, with the government which now pays me a pension with all the medical benefits. I'm truly grateful n blessed. ❤❤❤

I don’t have an expectation of my daughter taking care of me, I pray that she enjoys her life, do well, take care of herself mind body and soul and all I hope is that she would want to spend time with me in her heart, not me forcing her to do so. I ask God to keep me as self sufficient as possible, healthy and able to live in peace. God can do all things.

You're absolutely right. With economic challenges and rising costs of living, it's becoming increasingly difficult for many people to save a substantial amount of money. However, even small steps towards saving can make a difference in the long run. @BuddhaZenWishdom
@BuddhaZenWishdom 28 дней назад
It sounds like you've made a difficult but necessary decision to prioritize your well-being and boundaries by going no contact with your parents. It's essential to recognize and honor your own needs and mental health, especially in relationships that are toxic or harmful. Setting boundaries, even with family members, is crucial for maintaining emotional health and protecting yourself from further harm. Sometimes, creating distance from toxic relationships is the healthiest choice, even if it means severing ties completely. Remember that you have the right to prioritize your own well-being and happiness, even if it means making difficult decisions about family relationships. Surround yourself with supportive and understanding individuals who respect and value you for who you are. If you find that the impact of your upbringing continues to affect you emotionally, seeking support from a therapist or counselor can be helpful in processing your experiences and developing coping strategies. You deserve to live a life free from the negative influence of toxic relationships and to cultivate healthy, positive connections with others.

Indeed, the responsibility to avoid burdening others extends to grown children as well. Just as parents should strive to be self-sufficient and not rely overly on their children, grown children should also aim for independence and not become a burden to their own children or family members. Each generation has its own responsibilities and should take proactive steps to ensure their own well-being while also being mindful of not imposing undue burdens on others. Maybe you can move far away to another city and not tell him where you are going, then let him be on his own to support himself. You can also tell him if he goes to rehab and becomes clean, then you will consider helping him out financially to get his own place until he has some money to support himself. There are support groups for parents of drug addicted adult children. Try looking for one. If he does hurt you, or tries to, call the cops on him and file charges. Don’t be afraid. If he knows you are afraid of him, he’ll keep on harassing you and threatening you. Stand up and be strong. I’ve been there with one of my daughters, many years ago, but had to try many different things until I got my life back. She has been completely clean for 6 years, has a very good job and even lives in another state with her boyfriend. She has become responsible for her life and her bills- something which she never did while on drugs. She has turned her life around and is now on a complete health kick, even going to the gym several times a week. Don’t give up on your son! If nothing works, go to a prayer group! There’s power in group prayers!

Additionally, reaching out to support groups or helplines for families affected by addiction can provide you with guidance and resources. Remember, you are not alone, and there are people who can help you navigate through this difficult time. Please prioritize your safety and seek assistance as soon as possible.
