Any time I get a chance to watch WVA lose a sprint ESPECIALLY to a new, young and lesser known rider such as Bittner I am happy and before anybody says I'm being rude or disrespectful let me clearly state that WVA is an exceptional athlete. I think he is incredibly talented but he is too easy to root for. Not only that but it's ALWAYS awesome to see new young talented riders riding in a Grand Tour for their first time or winning a Grand Tour stage for the first time. I love the emotion in these riders. It's awesome to see them making their mark in the sport and gaining our attention. Many fans didn't know who this lad was but after today we will always remember watching him win this stage at La Vuelta and it's not just a Grand Tour stage win, he won against WVA!!!!! ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!! As for his English it's commonplace in cycling these days. It's not so much like the old days where you HAD to learn the language of the team you were on. But even with that being the case I think it's amazing hese lads pick up the English language as well as they do and sometimes in such a short period of time 🤘🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

that crash zoom-out @ 4:39 drove me mad watching the highlights on telly this evening - camera operator only had to pull back to reveal the line & two cofidis sponsor road markers camera-side of it - no further, not all the way back to include rtve's tv studio; are they being directed to do this deliberately so that it somehow adds to the excitement of who won & waiting for a photo finish? all the other angles they kept replaying in slow-mo afterwards were no help either. all quite maddening as it was so unneccesary & after such a dull stage up til the final k (beyond the intermediate sprint & unfortunate abandonment).

Green jersey question. Stage 7 looks like the last flat out sprinters opportunity and even then very much dependant on whether a break with punchy climbers gets away. So the thing I am not quite clear about these days in the Vuelta is how the points shake out. I am assuming here that even if points are more weighted to sprints there is not enough of them in this tour to win green unless you can get in the right breaks. This to me surely rules out Groves so after stage 7 will he even stay in the tour especially as they don't have anyone for him to work for? Is the most likely outcome for green that Roglic or other GC contenders will top 5 in enough stages that they will take green by default. Does WvA have a chance to keep it by getting in breaks and taking intermediates? I'd expect Bittner to stay in as he might be a contender to get in breaks still, unless DSM don't want to burn him out.

Stage 17 as well i think? Also a possible sprint stage. Green is still a battle cause of intermediate sprints

Amateur hour at the vuelta man. Stage 4 we got a premature celebration. Stage 5 we got groves totally flubbing after a great lead out, then wva throwing way before the finish. We’ll say wva made an honest mistake where there was another line on the road and thus he made a mistake. But Groves shouldn’t have been looking backwards during the sprint. When you’ve got a perfect lead out train and you can tell that you will be delivered to within 200m, you keep your head looking forward and make sure to move as soon as the lead out starts fading. Even if wva was on his right it wouldn’t matter, checking over the shoulder in a sprint is stupid.
