I love that seeing the “Devour Alive” option made me imagine the Courier, after failing to talk down Joshua, is like oh well and just leaps on this dying man and starts tearing chunks out of him in front of everyone after trying to get this man’s life spared not even 5 minutes earlier.😂
I see a his expansion as a test if you can save his soul. Joshua is attempting to do better, but if he falls for vengeance he is falling back to his old ways combined with his religious fanatacism.
Salt-Upon-Wounds 💀: "Outman! *Kuna-man MAAAD* 😬💢! He killed all the White Legs, like *some stupid and dumbfounded animals!* You must *TALK! You had to STOP* ...!!"
0:08 Courier-6: "Whoa-ha-hah, my man 😅! *This isn't what I've been signed-up* for...🙄😒 *Let me talk to Joshua Graham* about this stuff first, Salt-Upon-Wounds: *Let me talk to him* right now..."
0:10 Salt-Upon-Wounds: (cowering in fear) "Him... *Him hearing you. You have TALKED* 🗣!!" Joshua Graham: " *Don't try listening to this...abominable thing* like HIM 😡💢! His cries of fear are those of a *maddened beast, caught within a thicket of thorny bushes! He gave no mercy* to my dearest family, and so *I will give none to his* ...💀"
Deuteronomy 32:35 It is mine to avenge; I will repay. In due time their foot will slip; their day of disaster is near and their doom rushes upon them. Isaiah 35:4 Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you" Romans 12:19-21 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord'". The verse also says, "Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head It sounds based on the outside, but Biblical scripture says otherwise. The written in this DLC was amazing.
If you succeed the check to have Joshua spare Salt, he has the following to say (paraphrased); "I want to take from them what they took from me, from my family.(...) I want to have my revenge.(...) I want to call it my own, to make my anger God's anger. To justify the things I've done. Sometimes I tell myself that these wild fires never stop burning. But I'm the one who starts them. Not God. Not them." I think this is part of what makes Joshua truly a great character. He's multi-faceted and has very real flaws we see in alot of people in real life. He's wracked with guilt over what he's lost, and he feels anger towards those that have taken from him, but he convinces himself that his anger is righteous because of his faith.
@@seabass5892 Like a real Christian, he is a man who needs the Lord as much as anybody else. In game, the Lord saved him from his own evil, causing him to realize how depraved his actions were when working for the Legion. There are some things he gets wrong, or is inaccurate about in regards to scripture, but he is written very realistically and I believe people love him because he is so believable. I think the characters you can appreciate the most are the ones that are the most human.
@@JustinCage56 Yeah, and when the day of judgment comes and the battle between the forces of good and evil take place at Tel Meggido Jesus is going to come back with a Mac-10 in each hand, some Pit Viper glasses and a baaad attitude.
It has the same tone like the last Sangheili from the demo of Halo: Combat Evolved. “Your destruction is the will of the gods. And we… are their instrument!”
0:37 [Speech 89/90 🗣] Courier-6: "So then... *Who the heck are you to decided THIS* 🤨?!" 0:41 [Speech FAILED 🗣🚫☹] Joshua Graham: "Very well, for *I am the right hand of the Lord* 🤚😇, and so *I am the righteous instrument of HIS divine vengeance* ...✊🔥!"
@@kylejacobson9587 who said anything about enver pasha my yankee burger friend. Sounds like you are upset that you couldnt shoot a school over some bullying you but anyways. Armenians attacked first and massacred villages in the east anatolia; while the able bodied men were in the fronts fighting in the ww1, they slaughtered women, children and elderly. When the news of armenian atrocities reached to the army, armenians got rekted in revenge. And this is literally the same as what happened to white legs. So yeah.
