When your camera REALLY MATTERS!!! 

Like everything else in life, photography also involves compromises. I want bigger image quality than 35mm, but not quite ready to be commited into large format system. Thus: medium format. The ideal balance for people like me who want to embrace the slow approach of photography yet still remains pretty portable. I'm pretty sure once I join the large format club, then tripod will be my daily friend, and that means even less mobility. For some, 35mm is just sufficient. Can be quickly move around catching those moments.

If you are interested in double exposures on 6x6 camera, take a look at older TLR's like my Yashica LM, that has a shutter decoupled from the winding mechanism. You can shoot a gazillion exposures on the same piece of film with just a light tap on the shutter cocking leaver...
