Stormcloud as a character irritates me because why did they even bring him in if not to make babies, new blood in thunderclan is a precious resource on par with diamonds and we're squandering it so the frostfour can continue to make their family tree into a Christmas wreath
And in the Bramblestars storm they mentioned cherryfall and stormcloud to like each other. I actually hoped to see them having babies and being a cute couple :c
Maybe an earthquake goes through all the clans during the night, but causes a rockslide in Thunderclan's camp crushing [X] den while they are all asleep and helpless or smth
As a disaster movie enjoyer: yes please give me Threads - ThunderClan version (remember how 2-3 background characters used to die from greencough or in storms between each arc?)
And then you realise that they killed Hazeltail, Rosetail and Toadstep (Daisy's kids, new genes) without having kittens that couldve probably brought some diversity into this Alabama clan
Well to be quite honest, Spiderleg _is_ their father. But despite having a lot of kits, Dustpelt and Ferncloud don't have the biggest ThunderClan lineage. So I suppose there is some loss of potential non incestuous partnerships here 💀
@@jaycookie2912 You're right about Rosepetal and Toadstep. However, we still have Mousewhisker and we used to have Hazeltail as well. Not to mention Stormcloud who's being sitting doing nothing.
Following the warrior cats family trees is like following the progress of trying to bring an endangered species back from the brink of extinction. With only 20 or so cats in the genetic pool, in a few generations they're all cousins.
In my own fan-warriors story, the clans avoid mass inbreeding by doing an apprentice trade. Kits old enough to become apprentices are given a choice on what clan they would want to join. The clans are a lot more diplomatic and socially structured, so tensions don’t often happen when kits are traded. It’s seen as an opportunity to meet new cats and explore new places. There’s also the scholar’s journey, where apprentices ready to become warriors may venture into unknown territories. They teach and learn from other cats, before eventually making their way back to their clan and sharing what they learned. This gives the clans a chance to diversify the gene pool, as well as advance their own societies and welcome outsiders that may be intrigued.
@fairycat23 Aw thanks! I love talking about my fan-cats! In my OC warrior cat lore, the 6 clans encompassing the mountain territories (Cliffclan, Coastclan, Eskerclan, Mireclan, Sageclan, and Grottoclan) have not seen interpersonal war or conflict since the founding of the clans because of the many treaties and laws put in place, such as the apprentice trade. Every moon, the clans gather at Grottoclan to reunite with their birth clan’s family and friends, and throughout the seasons, many festivals are held to honor their ancestors and bond with their fellow cats. These clans are very diverse and societally advanced as a result of this unity, to the point that these cats have entered their own form of Bronze Age, carving into mountains to make underground cities, utilizing farming methods for cultivating medicinal plants and attracting prey, and even forming alliances with other animals! They have also flourished in the wild because of their near isolation from humans. Two-legs are seen as more of a mythical creature to the cats than a genuine threat, and monsters/cars are unheard of, let alone roads. Sorry for the rambling ;w; I have been working on and off on this lore for at least 2 years, finding new things to add to the lore of my Bronze Age cats lol
This is why power of three is my favorite arch, yes not much happens, but at the same time so much happens, Berrynose’s love story, spiderleg’s love story, daisy’s entire thing. Breezepelt’s trauma, lionblaze’s secret. HOLLYLEAF’S EVERYTHING jayfeather’s investigations. Everything about the stick. And those are just off the top of my head. If I asked any warrior cats enjoyer to name all the background characters is power of three, they would not only be able to list the ones from tc, but also some from windclan or even sc. people complain about power of three being boring bc nothing happens, they might be right but power of three is where all the world building comes into play. Makes the world of warriors feel lived in. I know a lot of people find it mundane just to tag along on some apprentice’s daily chores but I like it. In case ur wondering (you’re not wondering but…) my favorite scene in the whole series is in power of three, when lionpaw is tucked up ready for bed in the app’s den and the younger cats are bothering him. And then cinderpaw who had been on patrol comes in with some honey that leafpool let her keep. everyone tastes it and Poppypaw says: “It doesn’t taste like anything” >:/ There was so much world building in that one scene: older apps being annoyed by young ones, the kinship apps feel towards one another, the confirmed headcannon that apps stay up late chatting. The fact that warriors do sometimes collect useful herbs while on patrol. You just don’t see much of this in the recent archs
Power of three’s main plot sucked but it’s B plot and Side stories were pretty good, And Omen of the stars was kinda similar in that regard, the interpersonal conflicts and the day to day clan and even some dark forest shenanigans were the actual enjoyable part to me
@@andistansbury4366 gotta be a close second and then when jaypaw tries to show leafpool the stick and he goes: “Why wasn’t she more interested in the stick?” (Say it out loud) gets me every time
Ivypool dating Fernsong after having her entire arc about being jealous about not being included in the kin of Firestar's kin prophecy despite being kin is Such a writing choice. Plus the age gap!
@@firenkyo8073 I disagree, a two year age gap between two adult cats is not really weird. While real cat biology does not matter in warrior cats (as well as their aging); animals age differently. The age gap between a 2 years old and a 4 years old cat is differnt than from a 13 years old and a 15 years old cat.
I’m so glad I saw this comment because I wouldn’t have noticed the sound otherwise. I’ve kind of been having on and off anxiety attacks all day and I watched this because I find these videos calming, that just adds to it even more 🙂
I think one easy-quick fix would be letting the she-cats have kits without mentioning or stating who the father is. Just let the father be a mystery or make it seem like these she-cats just had a fling or something with an un-named loner who passed through the territory one day. just let these she-cats have one night stands and be single moms lol.
That still wouldn’t completely solve it though, because cats can still be related to each other through maternal family. Like how Whitewing and Birchfall are actually second cousins because their grandmothers, Brindleface and Frostfur, were sisters
@@starstorm1267 yeah that is true, i mostly made this comment as a joke tbh. Honestly I don't think they'll ever fix or mention the Incest Problem because I doubt the Erins/New Team or whoever is writing Warriors these days wants to admit to their pre-teen audience that they've been making cousins have babies with each other for the past years. *Honestly its kinda sad tbh bc cats barely acknowledge their family outside of their parents or siblings and occasionally grandparents, has there ever been a cat who acknowledged somebody as their Uncle or Cousin and not just as 'Kin' or something?*
Could you maybe outline the difference between the authors' writing styles someday? You mention sometimes that cherith and Kate write plots differently and I'm interested in how that affects the books! Definitely no pressure but I thought I'd pose the question
It's kinda funny how the new team passes on pretty much all opportunities to at least broaden the genetic diversity in ThunderClan a little. Mousewhisker? Stays single. Stormcloud? Let's ignore Vicky hinting at Cherryfall X Stormcloud in Bramblestar's Storm. Twigbranch and Finleap? Let's keep the SkyClan cats to themselves AND also have one of them not want any kits (soon) (which would be refreshing but why'd they have to pick her for that?) Fernstripe, you're out last hope
@@kittenpuke8918then, for example, instead of making this whole Fernsong and Ivypool a thing, they could make Twigbranch not wanting to stay in the nursery and Finleap offering to stay in nursery. We get a litter, there's no incest and we have a tom who is taking care of kits. Three birds with one stone. I hate how they keep killing interesting characters or characters with new genes and all those nobodies are still here and do nothing except for being related to each other.
im so glad someone agrees with me on the alabama-ing of warrior cats. i had a game where i would put every character in the allegiances on a spin wheel and choose two cats to find how they were related, i could almost always find a way
Remember book 1? In into the wild They had 8 warriors, 5 apprentices, and 4-5 elders and only a couple kits.and the current last book we have now thunderclan has 35 cats in total. That’s a lot of cats
The fact that there’s an entire prophecy about Lionblaze and Jayfeather being related to Dovewing- and therefore Ivypool- makes Fernsong x Ivypool SO much worse to me. With the other cats you can kinda try to ignore everyone being related if you squint, but because they made such a point with the power of three cats being related it’s basically impossible to ignore the fact that Ivypool became mates with Lionblaze’s son. I’ve always hated the pairing because of it I need half the clan to be killed off by some disease and replaced with loners at this point.
yeah it's definitely weird especially when they point it out. idk how you would fix the inbreeding at this point though without killing off a bunch of characters and introducing new ones from outside thunderclan and/or doing a massive time skip. they could also go back to the TPB system where biological family isn't that important and a lot of cats seemed to just materialize out of thin air
Ok they're related but consider how far apart. Lionblaze's grandpa Firestar was the uncle of Dovewing and Ivypool's grandpa Cloudtail. Ivypool and Fernsong are not even cousins, and cousin relationships were pretty common throughout history when people didn't live in huge countries but rather small tribes. It's not shocking, really
@@windylue6206 I know it’s far apart. It wouldn’t even be that noticeable if it weren’t for the Power of Three Prophecy like I said in my original comment; that’s where the weirdness comes into play. It highlights them being related as a genuine major plot point that they talk about a lot. If it weren’t for that prophecy, I doubt I or anyone else would actually care, but it’s there and it makes everything weird.
What I find a bit upsetting is that the Erin’s keep spawning in these cats just to kill them off - more rather, kill the ones that have the most plot. It gives you a bit of sadness for a bit up until you realize most of the Clan at that rate just become fillers who are all related to each other. I’ve said this in the Discord and I’ll say it again; I doubt these cats will get any plot. If the Erin’s *do* end up releasing more Novellas that so happen to have a background character as the main, that’s just a background character who got lucky enough to get a super edition - such as Redtail was. But even then, at least Redtail had some kind of relevancy. Unless something very major happens with these guys in the next arc I don’t think they are ever gonna be safe from the background disarray. Seeing the new information for Arc 9 there is a chance these guys might get a redemption if our new protagonjst DOES happen to be from ThunderClan. If not, we may as well consider these guys to be less ordinary than every coffee bean blended into coffee pods.
@@MoonkittiI would love if you made a short talking video on him. He actually had a pretty interesting life for such an irrelevant background character. He was born shortly before the Great Battle where so many cats died, which was probably a little traumatizing. He also became mates with Lilyheart and was like a foster father to Twigpaw in Vision of Shadows because Lilyheart was the one to raise Twigpaw. He died in a heart breaking mudslide as a pretty young warrior. He just seemed like such a nice and caring boi, with the few lines he was given.
I've been advocating for it for years but Warriors REALLY needs a reboot. Like one set generations down the line where not even the newest born kits are around anymore. Full reset, family tree refresh where its not explained whos related to who unless its plot important, or needed to explain a relationship.
i feel like fernsong and ivypool is made worse by the fact that they are literally related by a prophecy. not a prophecy made for them specifically but fernsong's dad was part of the "kin of your kin" prophecy (blatantly stating that the prophecy three are kin) and ivypool's sister was part of it.
When you said they dilute Thunderclan: This is exactly it, and, to me, the worst problem. I keep hoping we would have an arc that doesn't have a Thunderclan POV, not because I hate TC or because it would be new, but because there's so many nobodys it damper the clan and everything happening in i to me.
I was thinking about ThunderClan earlier, specifically Bumblestripe. I JUST finished reading Wind and I had just been assuming this whole time that he died a while ago but he's still alive! If he's spoken at ALL I just can't remember and he's a character I like
i love lilyheart because her name is so cute (plus shes named after her mother and her sister, whose death she blames herself for). also her sprite on the wiki is pretty. seedpaw's death really hit me when i read bramblestar's storm as a kid, so i remember the two of them well.
It’s fun to see which one of these “nobody” Thunderclan cats are peoples’ favourite. Personally mine is Leafshade because her name and design are cool, and the way Spotfur talks about her is funny.
I like Leafshade a lot too, but my personal favorite is Plumstone! I like to pretend she is silly and goofy >:] I also like to pretend Hollytuft is a compelling character
Me, limiting my starting cats to like 15-20 and allowing cross-Colony breeding, breeding with cats outside of the Colonies, and letting a cat leave their Colony to go on their own journey or to potentially join another
I appreciate the ocean ambiance in the background. The Harestar video is one of my favorites just because it’s so relaxing to listen to you talk over that ambiance hahaha
Molewhisker should become mates with Minnowtail and bring her to ThunderClan so that their babies can be unrelated to anyway and we have even the illusion of genetic diversity.
i think it logically always had to be, especially in the pre bluestar era when thunderclan was staunchly against letting any outsiders join. it worked when you just didn't think about it but now that we read about several generations being born and becoming adults it gets quite weird
I feel that most of these casts of nobodies is just fodder to fill up allegiances (wow). I find it so strange how the new team hasn't fleshed out a good majority of cats in ThunderClan, even though were in their POV for a good majority of books. It's silly to have so many characters just to do nothing with them, imo.
Does anyone know what happened to the video in which Fireheart tells Bluestar’s children that she was their mother? Because I would like to be able to see it again
How are they not catching animal controls attention by now? Australia has one overpopulation of feral cats, they get shot at. Especially if the new books take place in our current decade
I want to love these background cats as much as i loved the background apprentices in power of three, but they’re not just interesting enough. Except FlipClaw. I love FlipClaw.
OK new idea, we just have a mass extinction event among all the plans and we kill off basically all the cat so the clans have to start over and get outside cats to join them because there is so few cats left in the clans. I’m thinking of fire or something that spreads among all of the clans. I just think that the warrior cats books have added too many new characters at this point that are two interconnected and it’s getting a critical mass of 20.
We need to have a purge fr, some sort of horrible event (I’m hoping for a natural disaster bigger than just a storm) that will take out a bunch of the cats and force the remaining ones to have characterization. I know that Warriors takes place in Britain and nothing interesting ever happens there but I feel like we can forget that just this once to introduce the clans to a Tornado for the first time ever. Or a hurricane, or an earthquake!!! The remaining cats will be forced to make decisions to survive which will result in characterization. Who will become followers and who will become leaders? Who will offer to go out and explore the damaged landscape? Who will be willing to make tough choices for the sake of others? And most of all who will be changed permanently by the loss of clan mates? Bonus is that it will give the books a chance to “reset” like so many fans keep calling out for, a chance for the clans to have to be built from scratch.
if ThunderClan were a family tree it would be a single mutated branch with no leaves that could only be found in Alabama. Also I love ShadowClan just as much as ThunderClan but they also have a family relations issue, all the Clans do. Maybe not SkyClan but definitely the rest. ThunderClan just has it worse.
