see, I think the problem is that even the players that dont play tf2 and just get games off of steam contribute to this problem. because a boycott, by its most basic definition, is abandoning something completely until it is solved. so, logically, we shouldn't even be using steam at the moment. we need to quite literally abandon all of valves stuff completely in order for this to work properly. a problem can't be avoided if its present in the system itself, after all. so, grab ya game consoles lads, maybe do some modification to em to play other stuff, cause its gonna be a long summer (and if you're reading this and typing out a response, congrats, ya fell for it lol)
FSOAS made a video that i 100% agree with hold off on spending until after the summer update, wait and see if valve is actually going to upkeep the game if not than dont spend if you wait a month or 2 after the summer update and the bots are still gone, we should be good to go
it is in a VERY VERY wonderful spot right now with the direction its heading, assuming that it STAYS in said spot. Which is exactly what it needs, TF2 being in a situation where Valve is doing exactly what we've been wanting for the past half decade or so
3:00 this same contractor works on many projects at valve off and on including but not limited to DXVK proton the steamdeck updates for half-life 2, portal 1 and others the vulkan implementations in all current source games tf2 64bit so he does already jump around different projects at valve, its not out of the question he would jump around the bot detection and tf2 64bit
*We must still be vigilant about the bot population. This might be just a cleanup for the summer update to make people give them money by buying random junk.*
The best course of action is to not spend money on bying keys/items and simply wait to see what happens next in the next 2-3 months. If the situation keeps improving, then MAYBE we can concider it. It's not like summer items will be unobtainable a week after the update. If there is a cosmetic/warpaint you want, don't rush to buy it. It's not going anywhere.

calling zesty "people that are popular for being angry at literary everything" is so ignorant. zesty is one of the only tf2 youtubers that seem to actualy know what their talking about.
i have watched alot of tf2 videos and videos regarding fixtf2 and to my knowledge, zesty is just the only one fitting that description in the context of a boycott
it's funny how Weezy is more open to converse with Zesty while other's aint. it did made Weezy's look incompetent and indecisive, but at least he tries while others refuse
The main reason why the boycott should have happened before was due to the proven example world of warcraft community made by both boycotting and signature gatheting at the same time which put a great strain on Blizzard themselves. The result was a response and answer to the community's concerns. Hence why the boycott should have started at the beginning of all this.
I think there are valid arguments to be made for both sides. My personal opinion; If we had more notice that FixTF2 would be happening, a boycott should've started at the beginning. But since we only had like a weeks notice, that's not enough time to convince everyone to stop spending money.
I'd been spending money by directly buying items from the Mann Co store. I decided I wouldn't be spending any more until we got a clear signal from Valve that they intended to put in the minimum effort required to keep the game running. I will continue to boycott until the game take a long-run turn for the better. To those who are currently f2p and want to break free; I know what it's like, I was f2p for about 3 years. I know it sucks, but please be patient until something proper gets done. A premium account won't be useful if the game isn't playable, so hold out a bit longer until Valve gives in.
I'm in the camp that the protest should have came with the boycott baked in. It's been said before but using it as a trump card instead of the principled position seems like a bark with no bite, and shifting into a boycott would cause just as much if not more infighting as some would feel the scope of the protest has changed, we have people saying that about FixTF2 right now even. We needed to stand by our guns, if TF2 casual hasn't been functioning for 6 years, 2 years after Valve already said they would do something, I do not believe a boycott now is unpromted or too "out of left field". And superceding the practicality of it, it's quite reasonable that if I'm displeased with the state of the game today that I don't wait to vote with my wallet on that support. If a restaraunt I like is using child labor and I want to protest that, I'm not going to wait until after lunch and order a sandwhich before I protest, that's counterproductive as hell.
I do like your point about waiting to officially announce the boycott. I in addition to many others are boycotting as I type this comment and have been for a while. I personally endorse the idea of boycotting asap on a personal level. Though one thing people often don't think about is that the reason it hasn't been "official" until recent is because people are impatient. Most people may be willing to boycott for a few weeks and that is it. They'll get bored and go back to funneling money into the pockets of valve. So, if we were to announce it on June 3rd, by the time the summer update came around, where boycotting is the MOST IMPORTANT, these people would be bored and fall off the wagon. If we instead time it (maybe sort of hint at the idea, but officially announce it...) to be about a week before the summer update, less people will give up and it will make more of impact. There is a chunk of people on both extremes (those boycotting no matter what and those who refuse to), but there is a huge chunk in the middle on the fence. This is who we want to be on our side, and we don't them to get bored with the idea. It's all a timing game. #FixTF2
I just hope VALVe just keep updating their anti cheat so we can prevent new cheating softwares and bot creations and I’m glad the protest worked but yeah I’m also in the boycott but yeah
They didn't do jack with their anticheat. CS went around checking people's account for cheating media, suspicious groups and friends and banned based off of that. Pathetic
Announcing a Boycott is a very serious thing. We are not allergic to it, we just simply want to try other less dramatic measures first. And considering how the boys were removed without a Boycott happening, I think we made the right call.

I just started playing in 2021 and haven't even experienced all the classes. From my perspective, adding more or tweaking what already exists would be unnecessary when there is already so much to learn and master
Related to Richter, I generally don't like him. He kind of a dick who's weirdly elitist about the game and one of the earliest public doomers over TF2 with the "it's over..." thumbnail you might've seen back during savetf2
I don't really know anything about Richter, all I know is I've been watching this podcast called upon further review since early this year and Richter joins in every now and then and always makes everything really entertaining. The guy is really good and stirring up the pot and being intentionally inflammatory in a comedic way for entertainment purposes it's great.

Tf2 will always have a scar from this. It’s just something tf2 has to deal with. The game has now built a reputation of having a community that constantly wants more. It’s a real shame. This was partly the reason i quit playing tf2 a while ago. The game is good but the community is always a 10 tonne boulder keeping it from truly being fun. I find it genuinely remarkable that valve actually did something, since the game has been neglected and left to rot for years
I don't really think asking for substantial updates and banning bots while they're still monetizing the game acting like nothing is wrong and doing the bare minimum is constantly asking for more though.

@@pyroratt They aren't talking about the bots, they're (I believe) talking about the people who think Valve OWES us a new major update that has new weapons, weapon rebalances, custom made maps, etc. They could also be talking about how most of the people in the FixTF2 protest aren't satisfied yet even though Valve has met our demands and the game's in a good place.

The bot banwave only happened a few weeks ago, bots have terrorized the game for 4 years while valve wasn't doing anything. 3. The problem here wasn't that they weren't saying anything, the problem was that they weren't saying anything while selling gambling loot boxes and exploiting the communities good will. 4. Yes ,selling weapons bothers me, but you kind of skimmed over the gambling lootboxes also being sold alongside the weapons.
I feel like just the bots being gone is far from what should be the end goal here, nothing has been done on any other front of the game. Hell, coaching has not been touched since long before the Meet Your Match update where it basically broke (you can still request a coach in a Casual game, the coach cannot join if you do this, that's a smaller issue tho) There's so many glaring issues in gameplay as well no one wants to point out, why? I don't know, but they should at least do SOMETHING gameplay wise and not just stick more cosmetics in the game endlessly, weapons being useless, outright OP/must picks, classes in general could use a touchup possibly. Comp is completely nonexistent, they made no efffort to make it actually worth playing in the first place what did they expect... it's just like, the last few actual updates they dropped screwed a lot of things up and they just decided to not care. I personally am hard into "bots being gone is cool, but is only a step in the right direction" boat.

This whole campaign really shows community cant do anything without some 10k+ subs talking faces curating it. And sadly its true. I’m not ashamed that I’m in a position to inspire people to want to protest for a better future for TF2. FixTF2 it’s not about the RU-vidrs, workshop creators, Twitter users or players, it’s about Valve. FixTF2 isn’t a competition. No one is trying to best anyone else in this. We are all on the same side and we all want Valve to give a damn, and the best way to rally a community is by communicating with them. And RU-vid seem pretty good at that. You’re flat out wrong on this one, and I’m sorry to say. Not a single RU-vidr thinks that FixTF2 is about them.

You know what actually would work, unlike the petition? Fucking getting into valve as an employ, and starting to shift the current hold of things in the company and eventually becoming the great lead and ovner of valve
Good luck, you’ll need a degree in computer science, then you have to get hired, then figure out the way to fix the bots, and they might not even place you in the tf2 team
my personal opinion: We should praise valve, but not TOO much that they outright ignore us again, just enough, and I really don't think this boycott is going to solve the issue cause TF2 has been going on for 17 years and valve recently did something we asked of them to do, Sure boycotting will PROBABLY make them keep up the bot banwaves but if we stop praising valve and not spend ANYTHING on tf2, we're just going to look very ungrateful and make it look like TF2 isn't worth keeping up anymore, thus valve's just gonna pull the plug on tf2 all-together seeing how it isn't worth it.
I feel that with the bots gone there are 2 immediate problems that should be addressed: 1) F2P players should be able to communicate in game again; 2) There should be more strict quality control over what content gets added to the game.
Something a spanish youtuber said was that he spoke with hexatronic about some bots and asking him if they were his and he said that no they weren’t and probably just someone copying him so aperently bot hosters have beef with other bot hosters

Valve lets anyone do whatever projects they want to do so they have permission to hop between projects they want to do. While I do agree that you should do finish one thing before getting to another, valve is not a regular coordinated company.
FixTF2 accomplished not much if anything, the bots being banned was not a result of FixTF2 which should be obvious to anyone who understands something like developing an anticheat takes more than a month, the bots being removed was obviously not a result of the recent FixTF2 but something that was going to happen anyways as it was in development way before
I’ll be honest I love this game but as for the boycott this will be my prediction: boycott happens and keeps happening and then valve seeing no profits shuts down the game releases more advertisements or a beta for deadlock community is outraged valve gets bad press and either bring back tf2 in it’s broken state and leave it to die or tank out the bad press and just be done with the game that’s caused them so many problems if I’m right (hopefully not) please reply telling me so because as much as I hate to see such a beautiful game go down I’m not sad but angry the community could cause it
Valve wouldn't shut down the game, it would cause a mass market panic and absolutely crash the virtual economy that TF2 started, bleeding into other cash cows like CS2 becoming much less profitable as a result, not to mention the even greater amount of backlash it would get. Though this is technically possible, it would be the worst case scenario for both the players and Valve.

What is the petition even for? Why did people sign it? "Grr we want Valve to work on the game!" well, they _are_ working on it. "Grr we want the game to be playable!" you got that too, no need to print the signatures out. "Grr we don't like the state the game is in!" good for you, I guess?
EVERY signature on the petition will be delivered to Valve in person. We are doing this to show just how many people care about the game, and just how many people disagree with how they have treated it.
I see the petition as a rally point. A center piece and more of a decoration than a real solution. It is kind of like flaunting your weaponry ("look how many people we got"). Even if the 342K is actually half that, it is still a fuck ton of people. The real action is coming from the Spreading the word about the issues, documenting cases, reporting bots/cheaters, Boycotting, Leaving negative reviews, etc. One puzzle piece is small; and doesn't mean much, but when you put them together, we make something bigger. It's up to interpretation how much this has and will work. Only time will tell. Though the petition itself is more like the HQ rather than the battlefield. "Well, they are working on it. We want the game to be playable." Yeah, after years of basically doing nothing besides adding community made cosmetic cases, fixing the occasional bug, and banning the odd cheater. All those are nice of course, but we still had the problem of 75% of games being bot infested for over half a decade while they continue to monetize it. This is the first time the game has been legit playable for an extended period of time (more than like a week) since around 2019-2020. People are keeping pressure on valve by continuing to campaign because we don't want it to stop. We don't want to go "thanks valve", then them dip again. You can call it crying, it somewhat is, but we aren't going to get any attention if we sit on our hands. You're going to have your oddball that cries for the heavy update or some shit, but that would be like going to a seminar and just listening to the crazy guy in the back of room chanting bible verses. We just want the game to continue being playable. I agree that you're somewhat correct and this is how some people act, but it is a gross oversimplification.

If that was more common, then there would be dozens of petitions delivered to officials around the world asking them to end global warming or make gas cheaper.
