Im thinking about starting a sisters army, learnt in this video that the iconic black armor red robes are our martyred lady, didnt knew didnt care either, The color scheme is so gorgous id paint em like that and play em as w/e order i want afterward. If someone object to my mini beeing of a wrong color scheme, do i really want to play with someone like that in the first place?

I think you underestimate argent shroud they also let storm bolters more easily get in rapid fire range for blessed bolts and not only ignoring the -1 for moving with a heavy weapon (and getting to advance as well) it actually allows you to reach targets with multi meltas as only 24" now. My experience is bloody rose is hard hit by the removal of the advance and charge strategem as well as war hymn not really working when things are in a rhino beforehand

The Melta Order Minoris is pretty bonkers, recently played with the equivalent of 40 melta guns and it is frightening to say the least

custom orders are best orders. they get any rules that fit their overall theme through edition changes, and look cooler than the book standards at least half the time.

For me it was OML all the way way the color scheme is iconic along with the dyed hair and Bob cuts

Gotta say I think you're somewhat underselling Argent Shroud. I'd say they're the most improved of all the orders for sure. Their other things might not be anything to write home about but their conviction is so so good. Catch me putting a multi-melta in each one of my Battle Sister squads.

I like the idea of having 2 orders, one bloody Rose and one argent shroud or ebon chalice

I personally think Argent Shroud stands out to me as Strong aswell. I played Valorous Hearts shooty lists with 8th sisters so was looking for a good crossover into 9th. Honestly, Argent Shroud feels like it aids alot of the nerfs that sisters received in regards to retributors etc. Reroll a hit per unit (as an ork player that includes a rokket boy in every 10 man deathskulls shooty blob) can be really fun and strong, thinking a melta in each basic sisters squad, advancing and plinking key targets at 24" without any -modifiers. On top of that, in lore friendly fashion, you can make a first turn move for free + advance with squads of Dominions 1x Combi Melta Supper and 4x Standard dominions equipped with artificer crafted storm bolters (Rapid Fire 2 S4 AP0 Damage2). Each squad equipped like this costs only 90 points. In rapid fire range thats 16 damage 2 shots + a Combi Melta shot for 90 points.

ARGENT SHROUD BABY! I’ve been bringing a paragon list with two units and let me tell you moving 8 inches then advances with multi meltas with no penalty’s then getting some re rolls really does the job.

Order of the Amaranthine Blade over here, everyone that can field a powersword, has a purple one. I don't actually play, but I do collect, paint, and make up my own lore because theres no GW Stasi around to haul me off for WrongPaint.

I'm starting Ebon Chalice for a combination of lore and the consistency granted by their rules. Also think their paint scheme is really sick!

Exploding 6s to hit on a multi melta Retributor Squad is pretty good. :)

My sisters are Order of the Wounded Heart. Daughter order of the Valorous Heart but with a similar color scheme to the Blood Rose (slightly darker red armor). That way I can switch between the two as the list may require and still remain lore accurate.

I would always recommend painting a custom scheme so u can use whichever order u feel like at the time

I just got sisters my self and plan to think up my own color scheme and making my own little faction of them (though may use of the big 6 from time to time).

The +1 to hit in melee in concert with the reroll to hit or wound seems great to me from the minoris rules. Making the sisters much less likely to whiff when they get the chance to unload their mega damage for their points just seems to play exactly to their style. It's virtually as good as bloody rose for melee lists, but it comes with also providing a powerful buff to the army's shooting phase as well. Given that so many lists are advancing into melee and melta range, I think those minoris rules together seem more valuable than the order rules. Maybe I'm too taken with the idea of a minoris faction.

I am in the final stages of painting up the first 500 pt of my Order of the Fiery Tear and I have been soooo torn between the minoris rules for melta damage plus trading in extra miracle dice to turn them into sixes OR just picking the rule that lets your minor chapter play exactly like a major one and going Ebon Chalice. It is such a hard decision...

One thing that I don't see covered anywhere is one of the convictions in the custom conviction sheet, I forgot the name of, but it went like this: if you pick it you cannot have any other conviction from custom order, and then you pick the major order, and get all the stuff from that order. And I am not sure if I understand the point of that conviction. Is it just there so you can have whatevere the heck colour scheme you like, whatever cool order name you invent and have rules of order majoris attached to it? EDIT: scrolled down the comments and found it - "in the footsteps of saints" and it allows you to copy everything except relic from the order majoris of your choice

you could always bring a poll in adition to videos like this. I think i would play as order of the ebon chalice since i like flame weapons

i played a 2k game few days ago i had ebon chalice, i meet the winner of local tournament he had the same list even though i told him i wanted to try my list bcus its 3 th time i playing with the need codex. he played dark angel i wiped his army i got around 700points of units left. but he won with 4 points more. Ebon chalice is damn strong

I enjoy argent shroud the most i'd say, since retributor squads absolutely slap with it and being able to advance lets you zip so easily across the battlefield. But sadly both of the players i play with run necrons+Admech, so valorous heart seems most useful for me because the boost to my squads' survivability is too important.

I think Sacred Rose can make units of maximum model size quite powerful

I like Argent shroud. Building a force right now with alot of retributors. Gonna try to get more dominions and the castigator tank.

Debating starting a sisters army, seems youd be better off using either the shroud order, /custom one with melta buff and reroll one hit/wound, for all your shooty units, then bloody rose for all your melee units. There doesnt seem to be any downside to running multiple orders. Bar the fee for the second detachment, but 2 cp for a patrol, to shove all the melee (or shooty if you make your battalion/brigade melee focused) doesnt seem like a bad idea, especially as it opens more troops slots. Could have the troops slots in the melee detachment filled by basic sisters squads, with a power sword+combi weapon, very cheap unit, and can take 1 heavy/special weapon too.

I disagree with your assessment with Ardent Shroud and Sacred rose. I haven't played with Sacred rose yet, but AS being able to advance and still shoot everything normally including vehicles has been insanely powerful. being able to get your Rets into a perfect position to melt something. not even taking into account the free rerolls (effectively saving you several CP every round) Faith being so incredibly powerful Sacred Rose being able to generate so many more.

I keep seeing contradictory things on Valorous Heart. Do they automatically get the buff versus AP 2 attacks?

I am saving up for my first army I am new to the game I like the Adepta Sorioritas and orks but I am not sure to what to start with if i go for THe sisters should I buy the combat patrol or buy smaller packs? I want to discuss a few things First: Warlord trait for Order of Our Martyred Lady actually says that you get auto 6MD for Sacrifice all the time, not just when character with this WT dies, here is the quote from wahapedia: WARLORD TRAIT: SHIELD BEARER This leader believes in facing every threat at the head of her Order, leading from the front. Each time an attack is allocated to this WARLORD, subtract 1 from the Damage characteristic of that attack (to a minimum of 1). Each time you gain a Miracle dice at the end of a phase as a result of Vengeance, if this WARLORD destroyed any enemy units during that phase, that Miracle dice is automatically a 6. Each time you gain a Miracle dice at the end of a phase as a result of Sacrifice, or if this WARLORD was destroyed during that phase, that Miracle dice is automatically a 6. Second: does MDs recieved from Martyred stratagem count as Sacrifice MDs? If yes, that a Warlord with Shield Bearer WT can generate 2+D3 auto 6 MDs Also I don't know if that was covered in previous videos on new SoB codex, but since the Chaplet of Sacrifice instructs you to keep the model on the table until the end of the phase, it must mean that all of it's rules still apply? Like auras, blessings and prayers/

I’m new. Does your entire army have to be one order? Meaning... I plan to play 2000 point games, and will probably choose ebon chalice. Will every single unit technically need to be painted the black and white in order to technically get all these great benefits??? Or do you have certain little squads of each order all fighting together, that all make use of their own bonuses/perks

I've asked a similar question earlier in regards to marines but... If I paint sisters in lore correct bloody rose colors does that lock the models to be played as bloody rose in tournaments? If that's the case What if I paint them in a paint scheme that isn't lore correct to any order can I then play them as any order? Imo the painting rules are kinda confusing for someone thinking about diving into the game

Why isnt purple being used at all in 40K? Personally i think it would suit a chapter of Sisters like a glove. Currently using it as on of my main colors on my Raven guard and some Nuln oil to mute it a bit, looks absolutely stunning!

As someone who knows absolutely nothing about sisters aside from Celestine being a great guard ally... I'm very surprised a lot of their orders sit mostly in the medium and medium-strong tiers. Really it's Bloody Rose and Ebon Chalice carrying a large amount of their power. Quite the eye opener. Especially since I haven't really seen other orders aside from the Martyred lady, basically the box art order of Sisters.

I want to make a force of Argent Shroud, to go with my Flesh Tearers, but.. the actual colour scheme sucks. I love the default black/red colour scheme for the sisters, but.. bluh. What to do. The Argent Shroud is for lore reasons (they were the ones who first found out what happened when the Flesh Tearers are told to 'kill everything')

My custom Order is called The Order of the Emperor's Guidance. So I picked the Guided by the Emperor's Will & Slayers of Heretics as my two convictions. Though the two antipsyker ones sound fun to use against GK/1k Sons or similar every once in a while.

I would imagine the big problem with playing Sisters (as well as Ad Mech) is that your order seems to be a *really* big commitment. I can imagine it: you buy the book when you know almost nothing, pick an order, start painting it. Three months later, you realize you picked the wrong one and into the rubbing alcohol they go! I could see a lot of players making the safe bet and picking Bloody Rose or something.

So what's the downside to just painting them custom?

I say paint them however you like and state at the beginning of the game/while building your army list which Order you choose for the specific detachment. Unless you're playing for GW Tournaments, I would pray nobody at any LGS would shit on you for using different coloured minis that you spent plenty of money and time on...

Your strength calculation of the orders seems to be off tbf

Argent shroud doesn't work when disembarking tho. p211 of the BRB: units that disembark count as having moved and never count as having remained stationary. Use valorous heart (ignore hit penalties strat), sacred rose (exploding 6s which is mathematically the same) or custom (18" half range for melta, superior than both if you can get in range) instead.

Lol, this is so bad, Argent Shroud is much better than "Medium". The current question among actual sisters players is whether pure mono AS is the way to go or not. Meanwhile Ebon Chalice is quite bad, there's only really one really good sacred rite and two decent ones + one situationally good one. You'd be be better off just picking a shooting order or melee order (or having one detachment of each) and having much larger benefits for that playstyle.

Now that Games Workshop expect players to play the order their army is painted as. This information is even more important. Sadly.

Overrated OOML and EC, hugely underrated AS. There's a very good reason most theorycrafting right now is happening with Argent Shroud.
