The scene in Mulan where they're all singing about A GIRL WORTH FIGHTING FOR then they come across the destroyed village with a single doll! There's no more musical numbers throughout the entire rest of the film.
I also heard the implication of that cut; the girl worth fighting for was the owner of that doll, a little girl who was mercilessly killed by the people they were pursuing.
I definitely remember the exact moment they stop it's as those 3 soldiers were about to chuck snowballs before seeing that village. The time for fun has ended, gotta get serious, at least for them.
Its Mulan, Aladdin and Hunchback for me. Firstly, Frollo is like the best villain in early Disney. The only villain who comes close is Scar. Second Esmeralda is bad as hell and the scene with her dancing in the feast of fools was my sexual awakening. Thirdly, Hellfire is a masterpiece of a song and it smokes all of your top five Disney songs. Fourth, it is the only Disney film that is realistic in its approach to love, attraction and relationships. Quasi was never gonna pull a dime like Esmeralda and they didnt try to sugar coat it, in the end he was content to just be friends. The overall plot was very simple yet very well crafted and it doesnt go on too long making it perfect to just throw on without feeling like a commitment. The only sore spot were the gargoyles, but they aint so bad.
Literally choose the exactly same ones at the beginning and was actually worried you would choose any of them. I truly love these movies, especially Mulan it has so much depth.
Beast didn't even kidnap or held her hostage... Hell, he just wanted her out, and when she was saved by him from wolves, she helped him in return (Sorry, I hate that people think it's still a hostage situation when it's not even close to that)
okay but I gotta disagree with your take on Ariel, She wanted to get legs so that she can explore the land, not get with some guy, it was seen in the movie that she loved the dry land and collected all kinds of things from sunken ships
True. But that doesn't change that she was willing to give up her voice and the ability that allowed her to stay underwater and be with her family for it.
@@renaakatsuki9960Tbf her father destroyed her entire collection the MOMENT she even saved a human. He caused her to run away and take an opportunity to see the land. I wouldn’t blame her for taking drastic measures.
I'll do Mulan, Hercules, and Tarzan. I'm not really itching to rewatch any of those movies but the ones up there are either played to death (Lion King), were never that good (Hunchback, Pocahontas), were just okay (Aladdin), or were ruined for me by adulthood (Beauty and the Beast). And of the ones I picked, Mulan is the only one I can see me actually being upset over losing.
Hunchback was always that good? It’s not a 10/10 movie and the tonal whiplash is legitimate, but the highs in the film are easily some of the best in all of Disney.
1. Agree with Mulan 2. Should add Hunchback 3. I'm never watching Hercules and I'm never going to feel like I made the wrong decision. My list would be: Mulan Hunchback Lion King
You have great taste in movies. Mulan is one of my favorites! It's also surprisingly progressive for the time it came out, having a very anti-gender role message. I'll never forget the scene where Mulan's soldier-buddies revealed themselves in dresses and make-up while Make a Man Outta You played in the background.
I'd pick the same three, but I'd give Lion King an honorable mention only cause growing up, I heard it was a good way to teach children about death. Reminds me of my nephew at my Dad's funeral, who thought that his grandfather was just sleeping. It's a bitter pill that everyone must swallow.
See I'm almost the exact same except instead of Mulan Tarzan because Tarzan was a big part of my life as a little kid and I was home schooled so I didn't have to deal with the over repeating the same movie all the time like that
Imma have to disagree with Beauty and the Beast because Belle volunteered herself to take her father’s place without The Beast asking, Adam(The Beast’s actual name) felt shitty about not letting her say goodbye and keeping her in a dungeon so he changed his mind to have her moved to an actual room, Belle was about to run off on her horse straight to the village but didn’t because he saved her life and it would’ve been cruel to leave him for dead, she only started liking him once he showed he was making changes, Adam only acted the way he did because he hated himself and the fact that a magic lady turned him into a monster when he was a literal kid, he let her go to help her father despite losing the chance to become human again and possibly have a life with Belle, and she only started to fall in love with him towards the end. To sum it all up, Beauty and The Beast is not a film about stock holme syndrome, and is truly a great and my favorite Disney movie of all time. Also my other two would definitely have to be Mulan and Aladdin.
We basically got the same picks but Lion King is in my top 3, maybe I should watch Hercules and then I can rate this again but from what I’ve seen it’s not too mythologically accurate
0:11 Ursula was the one who made Ariel go for changing into a human and give up her voice. Seems you fell for Ursula's manipulation. Or misinterpreted the film. Plus, Ariel was more the hero, Eric saved her only once after she saved her twice.
Did being *Woke* actually make you tired, heffa? Prince Eric was the fringe benefit of _The Little Mermaid;_ he does not carry this film until its climax, where he's released from Ursula's spell and eventually ends up fighting the villain. The real benefit to Ariel story is simple: She desires freedom. The entire time, her father is so dismissively bigoted towards humans, he barely encourages his daughter's exploratory nature and hobbies--trying to contain her livelihood only expressed more wants in Ariel's interests towards the surface.
Honestly you made good opinions and good points on a lot of these I would say mine are the same but I would swap Mulan and hunchback. Mulan's a great movie but there's just something about hunchback that I never fully appreciated as a kid but as an adult I love all the same. Back when villains were irredeemable pieces of shit. The scene where judge frollo is teaching his own torturer on how to torture more effectively lives in my head rent free
I feel like you could ask this question to so many different people, and you'd get a different list of three each time, and none of them are choosing Pocahontas. I'd go Little Mermaid, Lion King, Mulan anyday, with Hercules as a close fourth.
That Tarzan soundtrack tho... Phil Collins gave us better songs than his own ALBUMS. Totally thought i was the only one voicing over Batman, i mean, Simba watching his dad fall
My pick would be Aladdin, Mulan, and Lion King. I REALLY wanted to squeeze Hunckback in, but the gargoyles just barely lower it enough for me to leave it out. I wanted to squeeze Hercules in too, but tbh, James Woods and Danny DeVito kinda carry that movie.
The only one here I'd be sad to lose is Hunchback as I actually really enjoyed it watching it for the first time as an adult. But personally I never watched Hercules and nothing I've seen of it makes me feel the need to. For me it's Mulan, Aladdin, and Lion King easily.
My 3 would be Huncheback, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast Huncheback because of how the more i grew up the more i adored the film. yes there's the Gargoyels but i can look past them. Especially when you have such stellar performances, music, and the animation is so damn stunning Beauty and the Beast because of its place in animation history and the obviously amazing animation, music and characters. And Mulan, well you said all that was needed for that one
I'd have to remove Hercules and put in the hunchback, I just resonated with this movie so much as a little kid. I have the problem of memorizing everything about stuff I see. It sucks at work because I can just point to an item and instantly know my coworkers fucked me over by not organizing the items I have to put back on the shelves. For this purpose, I went as long as possible to avoid watching the movie, so it would be fresh to me when I went back and watched it as an adult. I did that a year ago when I was 21, and at the time, I hadn't seen the movie in over a decade, and it did not disappoint.
I was with you until Beauty and the Beast. Everyone forgets Bell chose to stay. The Beast captured her father for trespassing and she chose to take his place.
My choises are Alladin, Hunchback of Notre Dame and Lion King. Alladin is classic, its Ginie, its Jafar, its Jago, animation is sick, songs are bangers pure gold of the movie, we dont have something like that nowdays from Disney. Hunchback because this movie isn't ordinary for Disney, this movie is Dark and takes the real life things like not acceptance in society. And Frollo is by far the best villain of Disney to this day. The lion king because this is a pure masterpiece, this is a movie that take Disney from the hole that corporation was in. This movie received a 1 000 000 000 dollars. And has one of the most emotional scenes in Disney.
Hercules is my favorite Disney movie in general so obviously keeping that one, also gotta agree on Aladdin mostly cause I love the songs, and finally it’s a tough choice between mulan and lion king, but I gotta go with lion king cause I love the songs and it’s hamlet but with animals from the savanna.
I would pick mulan and hurcules as my first 2 but for my third one I'm choosing what doesn't have side or second main characters to carry the movie so I would pick pocahantas, sure it she was fine, and the actual history of her irl was, dark. but she is what I see and hear when I draw and I love colors of the wind and cross around the riverbed, they were fire.
Hercules, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notre Dame. Hercules is just fun the entire time and the Muses made the musical numbers fun. Genie was hilarious. Hunchback had such a unique and daring story for a Disney movie.
My three to keep would just have to be Lion King, Tarzan, and Mulan. Aladdin was up there but bro has a bad habit of blocking some of the choices sometimes.
I would have the same list except change Hercules with The Lion King. As a mythology fan, that movie had me question EVERYTHING! Hercules gotta go for me.
Now if they kept beauty and the beast at least a bit closer with the original story, then it wouldn't seem as bad, there actually is a good amount from it that would have made the movie more entertaining and more people would watch it more
So I gotta point out that most of these disney films were based off of the Brothers Grimm fairy Tales, which had a lot darker and more horrific reasons behind everything that has happened, so take them with a pinch of salt if the "child friendly" disney didn't give it a fleshed out story
I'd go with 'Pocahontas.' The only thing I liked about it was the song 'Savages' (Catchy tune, cool visuals, and I liked that it wasn't just a one- sided "The colonists are EVIL" song, but instead showed that both sides were in the wrong), the rest was pretty forgettable.
Any for me, this was when disney didn’t really make movies I liked, and if they did I didn’t know it was even disney like i thought black cauldron was the lord of the rings people and treasure planet was dreamworks. I liked it cuz they did something different, Atlantis would be my third because there are more best girls in that movie than the entire disney princess collection combined.
