The first game is such a mindfuck, and it's visual style is a one of a kind vibe. I still thoroughly loved 2 first time through it, but it doesn't hold up as well as the first one does for me. I don't mind jank at all if the atmosphere is as good as it is in Evil within 1
One example for me personally; when I want thick atmosphere and the “vibe” as you call it. EW1. When I want smooth combat mechanics. EW2. Also the match mechanic was ridiculous but extremely fun
You pretty much touched on what needs to be said about both games like I said on Twitter both have positives and negatives when compared to each other but no 2 without one so that gets the nod it’s that close
That question really cannot be more subjective can it? Personally I feel 2 is like, the safe game, where everything is good and nice but not much stands out to me, whereas 1 is like a rollercoaster in terms of quality where some stuff is really fucking good and others are really fucking bad. But at the end of the day, 1 has bigger highs than 2 for me and that just makes it more memorable. But honestly I wouldn't blame anyone for disliking it or straight up hating it.
I played evil within 1 and 2 almost back to back at the time 2 just released and I can’t lie 1 felt like a bit of a chore to complete on the PS4. 2 on the other hand had me hooked throughout and felt much nicer to play.. may need to replay 1 at a higher frame rate I’m not sure
