I love making my own leaders and have learned a lot about crimpers. Not a lot of good information out there in one place so I made this video to share my experiences. Hope this is helpful.
After watching this I feel like you're the dude who has the answer to a product I'm looking for. I'm looking for a pair of fishing pliers that can cut crazy heavy single strand without getting notches in the metal, has a belt sheath, has a leash/lanyard and crimp notches for at least a 1.5 crimp.
Then I see they discontinued the Braid 32912 Crimpers, it's too bad there aren't more options for musky and saltwater fishing, it seems the AFW and Hi Seas are the same Chinese crimpers that are seen on Amazon for $20.
Patrick, it's been a minute since this video! I use the larger aluminum barrel sleeves for my shark rigs and I had to buy the large crimpers just for those, the Jinka's didn't go that big. The Jinka crimpers are great and are still holding up to this day.
Never had a problem with AFW crimper i bought 10 years 11 years ago, it's $20 just like most. I fished off shore alot and every one just use the same ones unles you have to cimp sizes bigger than 2.2mm.
Wow! When mine broke I was outside and it shot off for sure but luckily didn't hit anyone. The cheaper ones have an appeal because of their price but they sure don't hold up. Thanks for the comment.
