This guy reminds me of the little guy on Game of Thrones. Your favorite brand is your company, period. I drove the supply houses and some manufacturers nuts because I would not carry their brand or push them. I always told them that the best brand out there is my company. I installed every residential manufacturer out there. Had issues with everyone of them. Had very good reliability with everyone of them as well. Your brand is your company. Focus on that.
HVAC warranties from most manufacturers can be transferred at this point. So that’s not much of an issue now. Some brands do charge a small fee to transfer the warranty though. It’s up to the new homeowner to transfer the warranty. In addition it has to be registered to get the extended /full warranty. Regardless of who the homeowner is most people can get the 5 tests even if it wasn’t registered. They just have to transfer the warranty. Good video.
In California there’s no registration necessary, just straight to ten years. I think it would only be an issue if we attempt to get warranty fulfillment under two names if that makes sense. But yeah I’ve never had much of an issue with getting supply houses to give out parts just thought it was worth bringing up that it may be an issue
Yeah lots of negative sentiment towards mini splits and inverter systems where I started HVAC in AZ but in San Diego it's more the norm and we have few issues with them. Very different place to place
Exactly I’ve had multiple tech-support representatives from all different brands. Say that the inverter units aren’t supposed to be in heat above 115°.
I know I’ll get hate for this but here in north Georgia I love Goodman/Amana. This is what I install for my own company here. I can get parts almost anywhere for them. I also really love Trane’s simple systems, not the communicating crazy complicated ones but the simple ones for how long they last. I put one in my mom’s house 23 years ago and it’s still running great.
@@SurfBrosHVAC That’s funny because that’s the main thing I don’t like about them.. They didn’t used to be shitty. Nowadays I change the caps on brand new units when I install them to Amrad caps. I’ve learned my lesson and it saves me a trip two years down the road for a warranty call on something so simple. Then the customer thinks I sold them a piece of crap.
That's the thing. Parts and serviceability is part of that equation too. I can get Goodman/Amana parts from 10 different suppliers same or next day. White Rogers control board for a Goodman $50-$100. Carriers are $200 for a virtually identical board. I replaced a carrier board last year that was $689, almost $2000 for an ECM motor. The control module alone is $800.
York and Lennox blower motors are literally almost as expensive as the furnace sometimes. I sold and serviced both brands so I'm pretty familiar with costs
Hey from Ringold G.A. Amana/Goodman is great stuff. My Lennox HP Variable 20 seer fell apart in 6 years totally. Well It would run for a month and then I would wait 6 weeks for a part ..OVER AND OVER... Then something else would crash..It cost a fortune to buy and then another fortune in labor for the parts. I got so sick of it I order me cheap Amazon Mini split two of them and I used them for 4 years until I saved enough money to have that lennox torn out. I had a Amana installed with that swing compressor 18 months ago. Not one problem cools and heats perfectly , Those Cheap Mini splits still run great I still use them and leave the Amana off mostly.Trane kinda went downhill when I found L.G. compressors in our Rental unit heat pumps ever sense rand bought them out it seems.I have basically lost faith in all American names ,save for Amana. Rudd don't use accumulators or belly bands in there compressor anymore for the 15 seer heat pump.The three we have on rentals well they Slug alot when they start up , I don't consider a charge comp a accumulator. They say its normal but I know that sound.
Many times from failed inverter boards to UI failures ALOT of failed low voltage wires idk why but the dc really destroys existing thermostat wire , IDk why Lennox like to reinvent the wheel when it comes to air conditioning
I worked on a fair bit of zoned lennox with the S30 and if they could've gotten it to work well the way you could set it up with the exact CFM per zone was crazy legit. Problem is I always saw them breaking. Really cool in concept though
