Still none the wiser about which machine to choose. I am a former sculler who needs a rowing machine for home use. Also fully recovered from numerous low back injuries.
Where do I order those sliders...what make and model are those?. I wonder if they'd help me, because ever since I started with my Concept2 Model D, I have always felt like the fllywheel won't engage during the first 12 inches after the catch...and since I'm a short guy at 5'8" (172.72 cm), I always feel like I'm not developing much rowing power with my legs and not getting a good leg workout. I've never rowed an actual boat, I just do it as my main form of exercise. I always thought it was just a limitation of the design of the rower, because you have to get that thing spinning a certain speed before it flys out and engages the clutch. Kind of like a starter motor on an engine, the starter cog has to spin a certain speed to overcome the return spring tension in order to fly out and engage the flywheel.
She is still not firming up her shoulder ligaments muscles before beginning the pull. And then she is wasting energy pulling with upper back muscles rather than legs.
