I own both of these and have shot them both extensively. I agree with the fact the 320 axg legion has a narrower grip, and I think that’s why you’ve concluded it has less/better recoil impulse. But, that’s where I stop aligning with your conclusions. We’re two different shooters, so our experience will vary, but I wouldn’t even put the 320 axg legion the same tier as the 226 x5 legion. 320 axg legion has a very disappointing trigger that measures almost 5 pounds on my gauge. 226x5 is 2.3 pounds right out of the box. 320 axg legion also weighs 6 ounces less than the 226, which helps makes it materially more snappy from my experience. 226 is much softer. I shoot high end 2011s as well and the 226 feels much closer to them than the 320. By a wide margin. I have even shot my 320axg legion in a 1000 round defensive shooting course, and during fast shooting when my hands were sweaty the gun “climbs the ladder” quickly. Follow up shots kept rising. It really resonated when you mentioned how you could get your hands around the 320 grip. Same for me. I think that’s why maybe the recoil felt better and less snappy for you. But when that grip starts to break down, the gun doesn’t really want to return to zero. Very grip dependent. The 226x5 legion is less grip dependent from my experience. Reminds me of how Atlas talks about the strength of grip required to return to zero for different guns. Artemis takes less strength than the Athena, for example. Feels like this could be the case here. The 226x5 legion is much softer than the 320axg legion in my experience, but the grip is easier for me to initially optimize on the 320axg legion. I have med-lg size hands. Anyhow, sorry for the long response.
I just sold my Artemis. I found I shot my titan slightly better and the Titan was flatter as I measured both my mantis x. I also have an Erebus. When I compare my Axg legion 320 to them, my splits are pretty consistent with each of them. .21 with axg legion, .17-.18 with titan and Artemis and .15-.16 with Erebus. All pretty consistent. Measured muzzle rise in all of them and it goes from the following- flattest Erebus, Titan, Axg Legion and Artemis are pretty close. I would love to try that 226 axg!
I have both and love them both. I love the grip on the AXG and how it feels in my hand but it's the X5 by a mile for me. The X5 is the most accurate gun I own and I have some very nice 2011s.
@@QuickStrikes84 I would say the recoil is very similar because the 226 definitely has some weight to it. It doesn't recoil much at all. Love this gun.
@@QuickStrikes84 I would say a NICE 2011 is smoother but the 226 is just as if not more accurate. I have 2 Bul Armory and 2 Staccatos. The 226 is up there with them all and I have the XC.
@@TYKNO2 thank you very much for your input! I will be saving up for the sig since I trust the P226’s stellar reputation for reliability and durability. 👍
@@TYKNO2 Would love your input ….. since I posted above, I shot a friend’s XC and C2 and absolutely fell in love with the XC- so much so that I absolutely want one. Can you compare the 226 X5 legion to the XC in some detail ? Recoil, accuracy, ergos, muzzle rise ….. ? Am I better off giving up my 320 AXG legion and getting the 226 x5 AND get the XC as well? You said above the X5 by a mile over your 320 AXG, and I’m curious why. Thanks ! FYI: the XC is best 9mm I’ve ever shot (no I haven’t shot a Bup Tac pro with ports or an Atlas)
Outstanding video and comparison. My IDPA and competition gun has been an AXG Pro (320) for the past two years. My "training" gun, when I give classes or take them, is a P226 Legion SAO. Both guns have optics. Side note: the P226 is my "training" gun since most the classes I take or give are defense oriented. Both pistols are great for their intended purpose.
Cali resident here. I got the AXG legion slide from gun broker and put it on with the standard axg grip a friggin' love the thing. I just need to put an optic on and swap the trigger.
Xfive all day for a hammer fired battle pistol. If you want a striker fired battle pistol, for me its the XR920 with the radian system. I do wish sig didnt put the expansion chamber on it tho. My surefire RC2 misses the sunlight with all these comps these days.
This is the only reason I don't own a 320 yet. It's basically a big p365 That mush trigger is fine on a micro gun that is intended to be used inside of 7y But on a full size I want full features!
What do you like better about it? Just got the 226 x5 legion and I won't be shooting my staccato or shadow 2 anymore lol. Kind of want the 320 legion also now
@@RockinRack They are both really close, the 226 X5 has the better trigger, but I like the 320 X5's grip a little better and the frame comp seems to kill the recoil more. The are both phenomenal pistols and I feel lucky to own both.
I have the 320 axg and the DH3 and I prefer the DH3. It might be because I have the align tactical gas pedal but I feel like overall it feels more balanced
I have the p320 legion and i love the way it feels i dont feel recoil on this gun i really love all you go to do is add some weights swap the trigger by armory craft swap all springs from fcu and swap the grip loks and you will have a competion gun
I think they left 320 gas expansion ports bigger to be more accommodating to different configurations, and different peoples preferences. The 226 expansion port are more fine tuned to its design for its intended purpose as a duty weapon for better follow up cycling and barrel rise. I like the 226....
I’ve only shot a 226 Legion SAO but agreed between the 2 here I’d have to go 320. I just prefer the DA/SA 226 and the SAO I rented had been beaten up & shot a lot to be fair, but the safety barely clicked and was super loose, almost no feedback. Probably a sample of one but for higher round counts the OG 226 is proven and the 320 is up there now that it’s approaching a decade in design and implementation.
@@reker.a5790Which tells us nothing. I watched a body cam vid a few months ago where 5-6 Baltimore officers engaged a suspect who had an AR in his backpack. 3 of the officers had FTFs and other jams on their Glocks during the fight. Still trust Glock but it happens. Meanwhile plenty of qualified reviewers have beaten the crap out of 320s and dropped them from 20 ft and nothing happens. YMMV.
@@darkdre7 I think it would come down to use. The 226x5. Is much larger more of a “duty” pistol. Where the 226 SAO can fill both the rolls of a Duty pistol and a edc pistol. Also about half the cost of the 226x5
Wish they made the 226 ambi friendly, I have a regular 226 legion and love it but slide stop is a pain when I shoot left hand, I have the axg 320 and love how its both hand friendly
I own the p320 AXG legion and love it. I had a SAO p229 legion and did not like it at all, and felt exactly the same way with respect to 'bounce': I had to drive my arms out and really lock them out to keep the gun 'down' far more so than I did with my p320 axg legion. The expansion chamber + great grip ergos on the 320 AXG really aid with combating the higher bore axis issues that the 226 and 229 have. Curious: if you've shot a Staccato XC, how would you compare it to the sig p226 X5 legion?
@@cfcsvlog yes and no. The p226 may be single action but it’s still not 3 piece 2011 frame grip and slide. Alls there is a size difference, it would be close.
Staccato Ps are unreliable and not good duty issue guns. Too fragile and too expensive to replace. It’s clearly a marketing job by Staccato to PDs; 3.5k per unit what the hell is wrong with people. Use a Glock, use a M&P and be happy with the tool.
@@Zeromodulation Unreliable? My P has been 100% reliable so far. But I do keep it clean and lubed well. Have you not seen the 10k steel case ammo test on it? I wouldn’t call that marketing. And who’s paying 3.5k for a P?
Hello all, quick question regarding Safariland Mod for the 226. What’s the ship time for the holster, meaning If I placed and order right now. Roughly, what’s the turnaround for a ship date? Thank you for the content, I got both and love them both. As stated in the video my duty is the 226 and my EDC is the AXG.
Great video you think you can do a comparison with the p226 legion sao vs the p226 x5 legion. Also I didn’t know the p226 x5 legion could be used as a duty.
I'm looking for a range gun and maybe get into IDPA or some type of competition shooting. How do you feel about the p320 spectre comp vs the p320 axg legion? would you also know if both grip sizes are the same or one is fatter? i have smaller hands so i may get whichever has the skinnier grip.
Just recently purchased the 226 legion. Eh , it's ok. I made the mistake of shooting it for the first time along side my Staccato P. The Staccato kills it ... I don't like the 226 magwell , or the slide release. Worst design ever.... Gas pedal is cool. I guess I just expected more , at that price point I feel like I could have done much better elsewhere...... I'm definitely a 1911/2011 kinda guy , so I opted for the 226 thinking external hammer would be more 2011 ish than the others .... Honestly disappointed in Sig as a whole. Only my second one , and I sold my first.
A lot people think, since a pistol has a external safety and a single Action trigger it’s going to be like a 1911/2011. Not the case. The p226 X5 trigger is solid, the trigger is a little longer. If your were going to compare a P226X5 to a 2011 the P226X5 sport is closer than the legion model.
I also have to agree about the 1911 over 226. I have a fully Wilson Combat kitted 226, and it's my bedside now, instead of carry. My carry is a hand built 1911, parts from Brazos.
@rdrgear im on the fence between my next purchase for carry, between the p365 Axg Legion & the stacatto cs 2024. Money not being an issue which would u choose? Thank u in advance
Did you get one? I have the P365 AXG Legion and the 2024 C with the CS grip. I really can’t say enough about the 365 AXG, it’s incredibly ergonomic, feels great in the hand and insanely accurate and soft shooting. I have some really nice guns and the 365 AXG finds it way to the range along with whatever I had planned on shooting. It’s a great carry choice.
The 226 X5 Legion is Staccato prices, except Staccato is overall more practical for duty applications especially due to holster availability but also its approved at hundreds of agencies. The 226 X5 Legion is an amazing gun with little practical usage. The 320 AXG Legion is honestly a perfect gun for duty and tactical applications and has almost unlimited accessories. It strikes a really nice balance. They’re both great guns but one of them is useful and practical while the other I struggle to find a reason to own. Although to be fair that’s never stopped me for long… 😂
@@OReely444 Did I say that? Are you mentally challenged? Find me one agency running the 226 X5. I’ll wait. I’m clearly not talking about the 226 in general. There are hundreds of agencies running or authorizing the Staccato and I’ve never heard of one using X5 226s. Get out of here with your straw man. P.S. 2011s are drop safe if you have the safety on and only release the firing pin when safety is off.
@@OReely444 K guess I’m not allowed to point out your chromosome count in my response so I’ll just say this. I’ll be here when you can name me one agency that uses the X5 226 for duty. At no point up until your comment was anyone talking about the standard 226. Get real.
The only staccato worth getting is the xc. I own the c2 and I don't even like shooting it. The grip is the worst grip I've ever shot. Think slippery 2x4 lol. And talk about snappy. It's very fast and accurate and if you can learn to shoot it well you can shoot anything well. I have the 365xl with wc grip and that's what I carry and enjoy shooting more. When I carry something bigger it's also the m&p 2.0 and it's wayyyy easier to shoot than the staccato. About to get the new 2.0 comp carry!
That's ridiculous Sig is charging that damn much for a gun that doesn't even shoot flat. I've got a 226 Legion and 320 compact but I'm looking to CZ for the near future
The “shooting flat”. Is not a feature. The human is making the gun shoot “flat” aka: Minimal muzzle rise. This is not some 100% guarantee. I felt that the axg legion has a bit less felt recoil than the 226 after shooting them side by side. I feel this could be from 2 things. Size of the expansion chamber on each gun. And the narrowness of the axg legion frame. Cz’s do nothing for me. They need significant money to get them running right. A cajun gun works Cz will be over 2k just like the sig. appreciate the watch. 👍 Jeff.
@@rdrgear And yet countless competition shooters who shoot better than you disagree about CZs. Go figure. You're so eager to be right, you're contradicting yourself.
@kevmoful By a anti 2nd Amendment jury. They convicted only because there was no manual safety. Truth is not ONE discharge has been replicated in court. That's because it only happened to poorly trained cops using the wrong holster .
