After borrowing the 2019 Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory for 10 days I couldnt resist doing a direct comparison with my modified Suzuki GSXR-1000R. Which makes the best road bike?

I do like the sound of the V4.....but there has ALWAYS been something about a GSXR engine....it goes through 3 different timbres on the way up to 14k.....it litterly sounds like 3 different bikes.....Ive always loved them....and some day I WILL own one.

Good review mate. On the reliability issue, I did 60000kms of daily (hard) aggressive riding on a 2017 Tuono. It didn’t miss a beat. I’m now 12000kms into my second Tuono, and trying to decide if I upgrade to the RAV4RF when this baby is done. The V4 1100 is a peach!

I own a FIRESTORM and my V TWIN sounds like a HARLEY on steroids lol May I add a lady pushed her pram into the road as she was about to cross in front of me and retracted the pram and decided not to CHANCE IT due to my exhaust sound! pmsl clever lady:) Remember folks "BE LOUD AND PROUD" Ride safe girls and boys as the world is oblivious to two wheels and I think it will always be, As most road users see a small headlamp and slim profile and assume everybody is riding a 50cc scooter!

Have loved watching you progress from just a simple hooner on a bike to now the king of the Vloggers!! Haven't commented on your videos until now but have loved watching them all,from the 3 huskateer tour and the epic Euro tour on the 1290 with Womble, and all your bike tests....Youve inspired me to get back on the saddle after a few years (having kids,building a house, etc) and get a 1290 superduke and possibly a husky 710. Your enthusiasm for Supermotos, big V twins, stonking V4s and sports bikes is infectious. Keep doing what you do mate, we all love watching you on your journey!!

Mr Superduke '17 SDR!!??? How do you like it? Almost bought a '17 tuono Factory ,..went '17 FZ10 (MT10-USA) and loved it but loooooove the '17 SDR!!!! And we have a Ktm dealer near me , nearest Aprilia dealer is 1,400 miles away , and of course a Yamaha dealer on every corner which is why I went MT10, and half the cost but it's not tuono Factory or SDR ! Would love '17+ SDR but not seeing many long term reviews on them?

I LOvED Chops how you did the comparison bit by bit! Switching back and fourth, most do one bike then the next which as a viewer you're trying to remember what the other bike appeared as and was said to be in the other section, YOURs , doing bit by bit offered an nearly instant comparison for the viewer which was PERFECT! hats off to you for that!!! I've never owned an Aprilia Sadly, I almost bought a RSV4 Factory SBK a few years back ,..actually the one that the US motovlogger bought and uses "the muscle biker" he bought it the week I was getting financing together lol,:.funny thing is because it sold,..I later debated a tuono Factory and the MT10 that was jsut being released in the US (FZ10 2017) I ended up going FZ10 because I'm so in love with the crossplane 4 engine from Yamaha for its v4 like sound and qualities but unbelieveable reliability and ease of service centers and cost of course. I bought a new 0 mile FZ10 at release for $9,200 new , nearly half of the $17,500 tuono Factory and the FZ10 was the most fun and enjoyable bike I've owned with all the rest be by sport bikes , all but two were liter bikes, from Ducati, Yamaha, and Honda. For me I'd LOvE an Aprilia but aside from the cost,..I live in Utah, USA, and there is not an Aprilia Dealer within 1,400 miles of me,..that was the ultimate turn off even as much as I wanted that Factory Tuono,..but was not at all disapointed with the FZ10, track or street. In this comparison I love the gsxr1k , your color choice is golden!!!! And while it sounds great, for me there's no sound greater than a catless, Aprilia v4, Ducati v4s or a Yamaha crossplane 4, for me personally that sound is pure sex! My most desireable sound,..uh from a motorized vehicle that is. 🤔😉. The tuono v4 1100's with full system Austin or SC projects is unreal!!! Barron Von Grumbles R1M was near the top of tops ! I'd love to hear the 217 hp 1100 RSV4 Factory with the cats removed!!! This euro 4 (?) compliant Akropovich sounds epic WITH cats I can't imagine without!!! I miss my mt10, funny enough sold that to the same youtuber that bought the RSV4 out from under me lol. He's featured it In a lot of his videos and I'm actually in the one where he bought it and did some canyon tunnel runs,.. 👌 to be fair he had no idea anyone was getting financing for the RSV4, that's not he dealer ,..The Muscle Biker is one of the great youtubers out there up along with you and the Barron /44teeth! He's an amazing individual and a great honest dude . You guys keep it real and that's why your channels keep growing!!! May I ask what your next bike is going to be? Now that the gsxr1k is done,..I as a bike car and bike guy know that doesn't mean keep it till it does,..it means time to move on 🙂. Curious if you will go a Supernaked again? Loved the SDR1290 build series,..maybe a tuono 1100 Factory ?? I'd LOvE to see you review a MT10 SP as well! Loved 44teeths review and Barron's review of the MT10 but where we don't get the mt10sp in the US would love your view on it. There's been rumors for 2 years now we will get it but I see no luck yet. Keep up the amazing work and ride safe brother!

Great vid! You won't see many comparisons like this. Looks like you've been corrupted by the dark side lol. I guess if you've got that sort of money, the question is do you spend 21.5k on RSV4 or 16.5k on the GSXR1000R & then 5k improving it? If you can only have one do everything bike, it's the GSXR but if you just want a toy, it's the RSV4. Although I think the problem with Aprilia is to a lesser extent dealer network but more parts supply. Aprilia often seem to take ages getting parts which means it can take ages to get your bike back. Aprilia (not the dealer) customer service hasn't been great in my experience.

Or get the Aprilia RSV4 RR for about the same price as the GSXR, it's fairly easy (atleast in the US) to find a brand new left over RSV4 for an even better deal... around 15 grand or a lil less for previous 2019 RR, and the 1100 Factory can even be found still on new showroom floor or in shipping crate for last year model at 18.5 us dollars. Being still a lesser promoted/advertised bike as well as still a well kept secret that the average bike buyer isn't aware of how good the Aprilia is... partly because not many have even seen one or even been in an Aprilia/Piaggio/moto guzzi dealership. Good deals can be found, same engine and performance as the 1000 RF on the RR at 201bhp or around 187whp, pretty much everything is the same except the suspension and the wheels. You get forged, lighter than cast aluminum wheels and Ohlins on the RF, Factory, over the RR. Just put your 5k towards some carbon bst wheels and suspension internals plus tune/dial in and a flash or ecu and dyno tune(exhaust of course too haha) and you have a track beast of a weapon. Or if a street rider and commuter, save even more and go with the street oriented version as the Aprilia V4 Tuono.

Peter Kluge I'm jealous!! I live in utah US so I have no Aprilia dealer writhing 1,400 miles of me so I went MT10 over the tuono Factory , loved it for my 2 years and sold it to another RU-vid motovlogger "the muscle biker" who also has an RSV4 Factory SBK as well . I loved the reliability and the crossplane 4 decated sounds very very much like the king of sounds Aprilia v4 , jsut a cheaper version . Obviously my MT10 was now an Aprilia tuono Factory 1100 lol but at half the cost and dealers on every corner I had to go the route. But everytime I hear of a tuono Factory owner I'm instantly jealous! If o lay we had a dealer near here I'd own one. But will end up buying another MT10 especially now with quickshifter standard, heated grips , and the TFT screen available , do nelstune flash, race filter and full SC and be happy but a tuono 1100 Factory pulls up next to me I'll admit I'll be jealous! 🙂👌. I'll say there's NO comparison in sound ! The gsxr full system to even a euro 4 compliant Aprilia v4 it's not even a contest! V4 1000%! 👌

Excellent review... and I can truly believe the Aprilia is amazing... but after owning a Tuono V1100 Factory, I bet the Aprilia is a lot thirstier on fuel... I was getting 30mpg from the Aprilia... it had to go... I’ve got a GSXR 1000 in the garage... The Aprilia is a luxury toy ... the Suzuki the better everyday bike in my opinion..

I love them both but wouldn’t want either, that’s why I got rid of my Zx10r, cos I had bad self control , and every ride let’s say I saw 175mph on the clock , and at 53 should have had more sense, couldn’t afford to go to the mountain section of the tt circuit every wk end to see some legal speeding , so then bought a speed triple to slow me down ,,, it worked ,, to much wind blast after 110 cheers for the vid ,, Shane 🇬🇧 uk

I'm a bitter guy too and love to hear your feeback on sizing. Looking at the price, I couldn't take the RSV4 that to the track as I would cry when I went down and on every day riding you are not going to get anywhere near the performance available on the bike. I could take the Suzuki to the track as it would be easy and cheaper to fix if needed. With the added comfort, the GSXR would be better.

Wow what a review Chops! Superb work. Proper back to back. You're GSX-R is very nice and I've always loved the sound of the GSX-R. Mental on full chat. I've got the RF 2017 and I do think the sound is, for me at least, one of the most amazing sounds in motorcycling. They are surprisingly well put together and reliable too and Aprilia deserve more success with it. I'm pleased they are rare though. The 1100 looks mint but I wouldn't trade up my 2017 RF for one. The '17 is enough bike for me. I reckon your GSX-R has more low down stomp at the bottom end than the '17 and possibly more right at the very top too but the Aprilia I reckon owns the midrange. Bonkers! Hold on to your hats ladies and gentleman!

@motaola1

Suzuki offers a very good bike with budget components, subpar brakes, ugly exhaust, chip controls, ugly & chip dash all below standards, in contrary this RSV4 2019 1100 has the most sophisticate Brakes, chassis, electronics, refine engine, wheels, tires, exhaust, the only item that I would improve it in this 1100 are those age lights, and the gold color wheels for this year 1100, other than that this is “crème de la crème”. I made this mistake more than a few times, so from now on my humble opinion it’s a much better idea to buy a pristine quality and performance bike like this Aprilia, instead buy budget bike with a lower MSRP, then invest over $10k to improve it and at the end get a Frankenstein that does not behave like the premium bikes.

TheGray1967 if only I had an Aprilia dealer closer than 1,400 miles here in utah USA. 😭 I went 2017 MT10 just because of that ,..well and half the cost and LOvED it!!! But it's still no tuono Factory . I'll buy again tho at half the cost and a very similar sound decated and I'll SC ,.. but jealous of every Factory tuono owner! 🙌

I think you are definitely right, Aprilia is is like the Ferrari that you'd occasionally take out to feel special. Don't get me wrong I think it's an amazing machine, and I'm sure if you were loaded you'd have that and a Ferrari in the garage. That Gixxer though has plenty of poke, sounds sweet with the quickshifter and exhaust and you can ride it every damn day. Problem is to, feel special occasionally or love riding every day

The weapons grade speed machine or the accomplished comfy everyday sportsbike? Tough decision. For me the Gixxer has more than enough performance for the road really and being honest is a superb bike anyway. Plus the Italian exotica is soo expensive to me. Lovely bikes, thank you LC.

My 2018 RSV4RR has about 90% the Factory's sense of occasion but only cost me about $15.5k brand new! The budget RSV4 is the best bang for the buck in all of super bikes!

I refused a test drive on this bike at my local dealers because, 1) I would probably kill myself on it and 2) my kids would never forgive me for selling them to finance this BEAST lol. 3) I believe this is truly the HOLY GRAIL of biking and fear the VATICAN LOL :) I have been riding a lot of different engine configurations bikes since the 80`s and currently own a VTR Firestorm but I have owned VFR 400 RR/RD 500 V4 and loved the feeling of always being In the right gear and never having to really hunt for some oomph, the V4 is a power house and a fantastic example of a power plant made by HONDA years ago and bitched about by trolls to this day. Funny how today's cutting edge bikes are all choosing this power plant layout eh:) PS nobody mentions CAM CHAIN TENSIONERS have these disappeared from the V4 ENGINES OF TODAY? Love your videos mate as you are a real down to earth chap, well done mate:) PPS watch the pheasant son at 14:26 as this could cause a Fowl accident! I had a chicken literally enter my helmet on a country road at 60 mph because I DID not pull down my visor DOWN as I was cruising, the beast was very very heavy and nearly knocked me off my bike(CBR 600 F4 ULTIMA LIGHT 2000 MODEL) and I must admit I was very shocked AND indeed momentarily blinded by the foul beast lol

Pure theatre, Chops: unsurprisingly (& obviously) inspired by that incredible Aprilia. If I had the money, I'd buy one in a heartbeat (and to Hell with the consequences). Even if you were in a position to bag one, it sounds like your Gixxer might just be your everyday steed (still). But would that glorious, growling, V4 forever leave you begging hopelessly for more? I think we all know the answer to that conundrum. Thanks for that brilliant review LC, it's made my week. 👍

The rsv4 is an amazing bike no doubt but there just to much money hence why you don't see them often, would love one but couldn't warrant that price tag, gsxr all day for me saying that I currently have the k6 1000 which minus the electronics is probably very similar but why do you run budget tyres on a sports bike your the first person I know that run Avon 👎🏻 get yourself some Pirelli Diablo Rosso corsa or maybe the Rs tyres, ride safe mate 👍🏼

Avon makes some pretty great street tires, even for superbikes if you are a street focused rider in my opinion and experience but I do agree that the Pirelli Diablo range of tires especially the last few years are great performing street tires that are even good at track days for most agressive track riding/ performance bike, non competition level. I like them even more than the Pirelli SuperCorsa sets I've tried as far as the street riding goes, even though the Pirelli SuperCorsa line is the known top tier DOT approved tire and aimed for more aggressive sport riding, I feel the Diablos are better rounded, especially if you get stuck in rain or in cooler weather without tire warming. I've had good experience with the Metzlers too, I know they are related to Pirelli and not much different at all, just seem to be a lilttle more forgiving and of course easier to find at a better price. Dunlop Q2s were great in past years aswell, and then of course the Q3s, haven't tried Q4s yet. I have read and heard alot of great things about Michelin Power RS for the last few years too but haven't been able to try yet, they seem to be a lil more aggressive like the softer Pirelli Super Corsa too but claimed to wear more evenly and last a lil longer even for those that arent as anal about tire pressure or as good at suspension setup. type of riding and regions season/weather makes the difference on preference though, of course. I do see alot of Avons on the sport tourers and sportbikes ridden by riders that do more street riding and longer street rides. Love to talk tires, share and learn more about others experience and have heard a common agreement that the latest few iterations of the Pirelli Diablo Rosso, as far as the DOT sport tire being a great do it all performer for most street and track day riders.

Great review Chops! The finish of the the RSV4 RF looks very good - akra and carbon infill panels, mudguards etc as standard is very nice. How's the in-town fuelling on the aprilia? I love my tuono factory 18 MY, but the low speed fuelling leaves a lot to be desired, with choppiness (as the injectors shut off and restart) on minor deceleration under 30mph....
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides 5 лет назад
It was very good actually, seems better than the Tuono and old gen RSV4. I think once I realised Track or Race modes the throttle response is smoothed out considerably at it would poodle along at lower revs. Its still vibs a bit and has that slight transmission lash like the chain is loose but not as bad as the old model

But would you rather have a Tuono over the RSV or GSXR for the street? More comfortable than the RSV and perhaps similar power? I couldn't tell the difference between the RSV and T until you are up in the revs.
@LambChopRides
@LambChopRides 5 лет назад
There is more weight on your wrists than a naked of course but then you have a screen and neck protection. Plus your weight is spread over your arms and arse. On a naked all the weight is on your arse and I find that very uncomfortable after an hour or so. Yes legs are also tucked up more but providing you get off every hour or so its fine.. Hoping to do a decent trip on it soon to test that out! So I would say no point buying the Tuono.. just get the RSV4 if your under 6 foot that is.. Over 6 foot the Tuono would suit better
@Birky_41
@Birky_41 5 лет назад
I have a 19 Tuono for road & 18 GSXR 1000R for track. The suzuki once you sort the front brake is exceptional, more forgiving, very fast up top and more nimble but for me it's the Aprilia on the road all day long

Hi, enjoyed this film as I do all your output. Could I ask how are the vibrations on the Suzuki (pre-mapped) compared to it’s competition? Also is the GSXR1000 in standard form the most roomy in its class?
