I personally believe that hip hinge movement pattern (using any exercise like swings, RDL, deadlift variations, etc.) is more useful that anything else for building better strength, posture, real life and sports carryover, etc. and is equally effective for people of all ages and gender.

Hi coach, I'm a 27 y.o. (1.80m 80kg), with a body susceptible to injury in general, who trains by rotating S&S (mostly 16kg), Humane Burpee and Armor Building, with Pullups(~8) and inverted rows added. After reading Easy Strength, I'm quite interested in getting into Olympic Lifting, but my main concern is injury. How would you recommend to program with longevity in mind, for a beginner to get into Olympic lifts? Huge thanks for all of the well-tested and well-intentioned information that you have released over the years, appreciate it!

Instead of thinking O lifts I recommend that you think of what you are trying to accomplish from O lifts (or any exercise that you do). O lifts are great and when done with good form, not overdoing the volume - or weight that you are prepared to do. A smart trainer/trainee considers what they are trying to accomplish from a given workout or movement and thinking about is there any way to be more effective at accomplishing those goals (or safer). If you are definitely planning on adding O lifts to your training program (assuming that you currently are unskilled in Olympic lifts) - find a skilled, experienced instructor to show you. The right instructor isn’t necessarily going to be whoever has the most impressive physique. Good luck.

Dan please tell us somewhere we can buy your books so you do get paid well? Don't want to support Amazon I want to support you. Perhaps you could sell direct or via a third party that charges less and ships internationally?

Question Dan: I have an L5-S1 herniation, have you seen people rehab and swing with this injury?

I can't give medical advice. If you trained with me, we would find other options...as often happens with every BODY that I work with...

i was a physio, i would say that it really depends on the level of herniation of the discs and then how bad (if any) pain/neuro involvement and then clearance by your doctor.

@@codyburke7738 surgeon basically said he wants to cut a section away to relieve pressure off the nerve. My VA doc wants PT and cardio work. Going under the knife seems like the extreme option. KB work does seems a bit aggressive on the back though.

@@codyburke7738 I just don't like commenting on this level of injury.
