Another completely thorough and much needed tool video! The detail you cover is so great for those of us who are just not as experienced with power tools, but not patient enough to read the manifestos… er, I mean user manuals. 😋 Thank You! PS I ended up purchasing the Dewalt multi tool after watching your video on multi tools and it’s the perfect fit for me!

Thanks Cheryl, very kind of you to say so. I do try to do fairly detailed videos but they can drag on a bit 😂 I will try to get a bit more serious with all this youtube malarky in 2022 😎 Great that you got a multi tool, they really are a must have tool for every household, they are SO versatile !

Great video. Been running Paslode for years, but the run cost just does add up here in NZ. Invested in the Hikoki range of guns from first to the 18 gauge. 90mm no problems, plenty of power. Heavy though and you know you've been swinging it about about a couple of 100m of palings. When on remote farms, we swap to compressed air guns, but they don't like the weather - either to cold or too hot.
@Bacrenfencing
@Bacrenfencing 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. Yes, the cost of gas is a big drawback but I suppose that's the price to pay for being guaranteed the power of the paslode. I was going to by the Hikoki when it first came out as it got 5 star reviews (and sounds cool too) but I decided against it as it was actually slightly heavier than the dewalts I had already. Give my love to NZ from sunny Scotland 😀👍 and keep swinging that Hikoki !

The dewalt has been far more reliable than the paslode to be honest. Not really caused me any issues, I just prefer the power and speed of the paslode, but would certainly recommend the Dewalt.

Hi Barry nice video I prefer the dewalt myself for as you say a lot less messing around, looks like your timber stocks are still looking good prices down here are still high we did some composite fencing the other week although it was still more than timber the price difference is not miles apart our supplier is £1.45 for a 125 mm 1.8m feather board and the quality isn’t that good, take care mate 👍
@Bacrenfencing
@Bacrenfencing 2 года назад
Cheers Rob, Yes, I like the dewalt as well but the weight does take its toll when using it constantly, hence the paslode. Yes Rob, got some timber left but all allocated to forthcoming jobs, I am getting it OK now but still have to order well in advance and the prices are mental - not sustainable in the long term but you know what it's like, once prices go up they never really return to previous levels.............way of the world at the moment ! Take it easy mate and good to hear from you !

Coil nailers are good, but you need a compressor. These nail guns are totally cordless and never split the palings. At the end of the day, coil nailers and framing nailers do exactly the same job.

@Bacrenfencing
@Bacrenfencing 11 месяцев назад
Yes, coil nailers use a round headed nail and the framers use D headed (which are not an issue). I now use the Paslod 360xi nail guns which accept round headed nails as well, so they are really good if you want to use round headed nails. I made a video on the 360xi here if that helps ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LdkkBgB3z5E.html

Great video. I'm looking for a nail gun for making planters, some can be large planters. Thickest materials I use is 22mm was thinking of the dewalt dcn660 and wasn't sure if 16g would be enough and never used nail gun before. Getting fed up with using screws and price of them any advice would be grest
@Bacrenfencing
@Bacrenfencing 2 года назад
Thanks for the comment. I also have a Dewalt DCN660 which I use as a brad nailer. I am not sure if the DCN660 would be much use for planters though as the brad nails would not give sufficient holding power. If the combined thickness of the timber that you are fixing is over 50mm, then best with a first fix nail gun like the one's I show in the video and use ring shank nails. Hope this helps ?

I have to admit that I tend to do the same when on smaller jobs, less fannying around. The paslode is a lot better if using it all day due to the lighter weight but I hear what you are saying ! Hi, The DCN692 is a good gun and will do feather edge, you just need to get the depth set right on the gun. If you are going for the DCN69N make sure it is a type3 as that is the best version IMO. Thanks for the comment 👍

@Bacrenfencing
@Bacrenfencing 2 года назад
@@russelldownesdownes5618Yes, you can use 90mm nails in the DCN692 for nailing the frame to the posts (personally, I use 6 x 100mm coach screws something like this amzn.to/3xOF0Ss ) and then use the same gun to fix the feather edge using 50mm ring shank nails. The DCN660 is a second fix gun that fires brad nails, brad nails are not recommended for feather edge. you need galvanised ring shank nails or screws. I sometimes use 4.5mm x 50mm decking screws depending on the situation. Hope this helps ?

I have to disagree, I did have a few problems with my type 1 recently but it is nearly 6 years old. I have another dewalt gun which is the type 3 and it has been pretty good.
