Chernobog school incident will always made my blood boils. That's how good the story feels and I regret skipping it before.

The first saddest part I encountered in the game was when I was reading Kroos file. She kept smiling just to hide the pain of her oripathy. Be strong ko ko da yo girl.

The saddest backstory here is the Dokutah’s wallet every time a new operator comes out he keeps getting abused and drained of all it’s worth without rest can we just get an F in the chat for his poor wallet

Schwarz’ backstory is pretty sad too. She accidentally got infected at a young age when she was playing with an originium shard disguised as a gem. Her parents confronted the perpetrators for an explanation, only to be killed in cold blood to keep them quiet. Young Schwarz was then sold into slavery where she was then bought by a mercenary group and trained to be an assassin.

Everytime Eyja use her S3 she's one step closer to dying from oripathy Keep that in mind

Some Notable Operators include: Gravel: She was "sold as chattel" to Kazimierz, where after undergoing ridicule and harsh treatment managed to become a skill assassin and rank 4 knight despite her slave status, even has a barcode on her shoulder, she doesn't even shy away from her past but freely discusses it. FrostLeaf: Was forced to fight many battles as a child part of the Columbian army, as the disputes died off, her entire squad was annihlated and she became retired from the army and became a mercenary after 7 year of experience. From her log, her infection was left untreated for a long time aswell and when she first came to Rhode Islands they thought she wouldn't make it. Later she was given but one order "convalescing as a patient." after Rhode island time, she found it hard to fight again and after some time, came back to battle just to find how hard of a life she had until then, the first mission back she wept on the field that day. From then on Frostleaf slowly turned into what she is now; a music lover, a fashionista and a bit of a loner. FrostNova: Was enslaved at a mining camp with her whole family (because of a dumb law- One criminal/ whole family is criminal) and that family got killed off in front of her. Guards did whatever they wanted to her and the constant slave mining managed to get majority of people infected, one day during a revolt her powers manifested and she protected the children that were left, Patriot saved her that day and even saw her pitiful state and decided to adopt her. Many of the people from the mines that day ended up forming the Yeti squad and exclaimed Yelena as "Big sister" because of her action in the past. Patriot always disliked letting FrostNova helping because her powers were killing her but she still kept pushing herself even onto chapter 6..... Frostnova joined Rhode Islands at the last second, so she will always be an operator to me.

Ifrit has it pretty bad. Life was miserable right away upto joining rhodes island where she smiled for the first time. Her oripathy is not only painful but also causes her wild hallucinations, you have to have written permission to interact with her. Her being bratty and standoffish is to keep people away from her because sho often lashes out dangerously during her hallucinations.

Children of Ursus has brought a lot of depressed stories and it makes the lore really interesting. Ursus characters have a sad past in their lifes

Cardigan is sad too She is a hard worker girl but doesn't realize that e1 is the highest promotion for 3*

Rope's voiceline actually made me cry, you can feel the helplessness of those infected

Fun fact: Most ppl regarded Ursus students incident as the darkest/saddest storyline in AK and often overlook the fact that what the ursus girls experienced, on those few weeks or a month at most, is basically the same thing that W experienced her whole life

Let's be honest here, it's not about who's story is the saddest; it's about how depressing Arknights can be and how they don't shy away from these darker theme. A massive positive point which got me hooked, really.

Silverash's story is kinda sad as well losing parent, being press from rival clan and younger sister get infected. After come back from Victoria, he gone so cold just to ensure both of his sister still have a warm life.

Hellagur's story is pretty sad too. He was born in Higashi, but for some reason joined Ursus and fought in a great war against Higashi and other states. In one of the battles he found his friend from Higashi dying and he took care of his daughter (maybe already adopted at that moment). And then Ursus started repressions against their former generals. That was their way of saying "thanks" to our anime Geralt. During that time he worked in Azazel clinic that treated the infected, and when something happened to it's owner, he took sick kids with him and became a new owner. I may be wrong, but I guess that not all of the patients from the clinic survived. Since it happened during Chernobog incident too.

I think Tsukinogi had it very rough: as a Messenger, she warned her people about an incoming Catastrophe and everyone escaped... except her family who stayed for religious reasons.

Then there's mountain, a guy who helps people out and lived a happy /cheerful life. Get locked up in jail from being framed by a company working under Rhine Lab. His E2 art and voice lines implies his anger against his enemies is what developed while he lived in prison when he had to fight people. Contracts Oripathy while in Jail but tries to make the best out of it. His mood becomes more stoic after realizing he feels like a monster. He eventually curbs his anger and spends his time reading instead, consigning himself to his current fate. You free him, and he is still suspicious that Rhodees Island may be another prison with you at the top after he first arrives. After you get max trust, he looks as Rhodes Island not as a Jail like Mansfield, but a home. Heck, he even tries to get the Dokutah to build a wine cellar and would drink with him sometimes to talk about stuff. He calls you his friend and would gladly give you everything he has - that's implying best friends or more from the time you spent with him. He basically had a semblance of a 'normal' life again. Eventually we find out his new skin that his parents are probably dead and he's going to avenge them, so he leaves Rhodes Island to not implicate them. That's even sadder cause now he has to cut off ties with a place he feels happy in, which explains why he's always drinking in his new skin. :'(

Every operatoer has their own story to tell and how bad it can be depends on their perspective. Comparing the amount of suffering is an interesting topic but there are so many different factors that every backstory is meaningful and sad in it's own way. I love Arknights lore and I just hope they find their happiness in the future

The first and probably my favorite one were Projekt Red, when she asked "is it important to have a family" (I think her Trust 2 voiceline idk cmiiw) my heart shattered man- and her love to granny tho T_T

If you ever make another one of these, you really oughta talk about Popukar. Her parents straight up left her at a lumberyard and ran away somewhere, her boss there was likely really cruel to her. Ansel said that when he and Kal'tsit went to *"buy"* Popukar from the lumberyard, it was the first time he had seen her visibly upset. She's a CHILD on the battlefield, and when the fighting is over, she has no recollection of what happened. She probably doesn't even have any idea she's killing at all, let alone how many. And then with her new Operator Record, apparently Kal'tsit has been telling Popukar that she was *sculpted out of CLAY,* and we also learn that there is something possibly TERRIFYING about her eye injury... Despite all this, her friends in A6 continue to preserve her innocence, and she seems to be the only reason any of them get along. It hits my emotions every time I think about her and A6.

Keep in mind that this is based on what I think. Also Eyja will die without having a skin. So, what is your favorite operator story in Arknights?

Rope kinda hit the reality check here Mostly some of us are kinda helpless when something is about to go wrong in any time while the process of finding the right thing to correct it is still far away Just like us 'humans', mostly have lost the hope of humanity because of the bad stuff happening around.

While a good video, it becomes really flawed when you chose omit essential details for the ursus students but keep it for others. Don’t even have to give full details, just point out that: - Zima gets repeated PTSD attack because of a certain thing she did in that school - Rosa having daily suicidal thoughts that involve slitting her throat/wrist because of the events that happened at school - Gummy commiting cannibalism -Istina being incredibly guilt ridden over failing to prevent a suicide Just details like that would have helped immensely. Good video regardless!

When he said Eyja was going to die without a skin I thought the skin was going to melt off and her inside would become the outside, but after reading the comments i realised that he meant a skin in game not the skin of a person and felt relief from that

Tbh i kinda expected hellagur's tragic background as well. Where he had to kill his close friend during a battle, he served an empire who has no sympathy for the infected and his friend whom he killed gave his katana and ask him to promise to look after a girl that was contacted oripathy

After reading April's story on the recent event I must say I kinda wanna vibe with her now. Not really the most tragic among the characters in arknights but I can still feel a lot from her back story.

The saddest story is the unending torture of Coura via baseball at the end of episodes. lol

Mah gurl scavanger also has sad story that makes you feel syhmpathy for her. I didnt remember fully well, but she has her lover dead while she was doing her merc job. CMIIW..... and please add more context if some of you remember her story well.

The Ursus Student Self-Governing Group was for me still the most depressing story ive read from Arknights, the things they had to do just to survive, and the trauma they got as a reward for surviving is just saddening.

I think the saddest one yet is The Children of Ursus one. Rosa regrets what she did Istina lost her best friend Vika Absinthe kept fighting and found out her father's dead Zima caused the fire that made the students starve which then... Resulted in Gummy turning to Cannibalism of her fellow students

Behind Kroos smiles was pain and cries. It was an accident during training that she accidentally shoot Beagle ( don’t worry, Beagle still alive) From that moment, she never sleeps ( but only for once a month) . Remorse of that accident haunt her to become the elite operator

Why am I tearing up? Arknights truly is the best VN I have ever played.

The saddest story imo probably still ursus incident. But cutter and frostleaf past is sad too, i can't stand a kid that doesn't know happinest when they should be in their age, they already know how to use weapons just to survive. One of the reasons why they're my waifu until now tho, at least frostleaf now can open her heart to everyone in rhodest island even it's just a little

I played genshin and arknights The only thing that made me keep getting back to arknights is the lore Arknights story telling is one of the best out there I just love this game

I just read Phantom's story in the rewinding breeze event,it must been hard for him,considering most people don't even know his birthplace,or even his existence

I was hoping arkngihts willing to put some light on Phantom lore. Theres so little to know, i may be oversymphatized my husbando but he must've had going throught many problems that make him suffer trauma, enddless nightmare and dissorder

Considering how little we know about the Doctor. Hell, he doesn't even know that much about himself. I can only imagine what we will learn about him as time progresses. Seems like their gearing up for blow the lid open for who he is. I don't think it will be pleasant to learn about his true past as alot of the story has been foreshadowing...

I kinda agree on Firewatch being one of the saddest operators, when I read her story I somehow felt what she felt, sadness and anger, It's hard to not feel bad for someone who's lost her entire family.
