it’s because Nkunku is more a central player. he’s comfortable on the left but not naturally a wide, away from goal player. he is much more impactful playing behind a striker and in front of goal.
Very smart. Nnkunku is more productive in central areas. Jackson is better at running and can lock down that wing and also practice his shooting more. Lets see if Nkunku can stay fit. @om3gainsomniac778
I feel like Gusto is being a victim of his own Dynamic attributes while he does fly up and down the wing and can deliver across almost to the level of Reese James I think we're forgetting how many defensive masterclasses we've seen him put in and how good a Defender he is he has locked up the Premier League's best consistently and it's rarely ever caught in trouble out of position Orbin muscled and overpowered
Majority of the season he was a good shot stopper with an awful defense. He’s young and only has 3/4 of a season under his belt in this league. It was strange how quickly the media and Chelsea RU-vidrs turned on him as soon as he had like 2 bad games in a row and then he seemed to be low on confidence
If we don't start Nkunku now that he is back fit and has a whole preseason to prepare then WTF are we even doing. He has to start somewhere in the line-up whether its on the left or up top, his quality is too good
As we are signing young players on long contracts, is the assumption that future transfer windows will be quieter because the squad will be stable on long contracts, with a steady feed of young talent from Strasbourg and the academy?
I think a lot of people including our host are forgetting a small, but important point. The clue is in the word small. I really don't believe we will go with the line up suggested. Reece starts and may be the one to invert, but the other three will all be six footers. I think it's going to be Fofana, Tosin and Colwill. Veiga comes into the reckoning as an inverted left back and Reece tucks in. I think we could mix things up as the ability to change and keep opposition guessing will be an advantage. Enzo and Caicedo start. The other midfield spot will be interesting, I think it's KDH or Nkunku. I think it's possible Nkunku starts wide left as well and we have Palmer and Nkunku cutting inside, which is what I'd like to see with Jackson up top. Carney is an option at 10 and gives us even more in the way of height and using that advantage at set plays. Remember we have a new set piece coach and going in with half the team at under 5ft 8 is not going to help. Can you imagine teams trying to defend against Tosin and Veiga, we would also look a lot more secure defending set plays too.
Nice vid again Yan. Just one correction. It’s not ‘Palmierashhh’. My g/f is Brazilian and a Palmieras fan, and can assure you it’s Pal-meer-az’. Keep up the good work.
I think Nkunku is too good to be benched - if fit- and will play as a no 9 who drops deep and makes room for Jackson, Sterling of Mudryk to cut in from the LW as they all do naturally. Mudryk is one of my biggest questions. His potential - as we’ve seen in flashes- is remarkable. Can Maresca teach him how to be a player?? If he can he’ll own the LW imo. And Carney. A personal fave whose injury against West Ham was tragic. I hope he stays and gets time, covering for KDH in particular, as the attacking midfield creative fulcrum. If everyone stays for this year I’m licking my lips at the thought of Palmer and Nkunku and Jackson and a KDH or Carney playing some slick football in and around the oppositions box.
If you take the history of Maresca and Palmer out of it, it doesn't seem like he fits the RW profile in this system at all. He's extremely left-footed, which causes him to invert and move into that crowded space you have with KDH and Caiciado. With no overlapping FB, what happens? KDH sliding right for the overlap makes little sense as he's also left footed, and Caiciado won't pull out wide. I also think the players' profile will influence how/who inverts at FB. You have a bunch of guys that can do it on both sides, so maybe we see a switching off between Cucurella/Viera on the left and James on the right. Enzo is pretty two footed, so I think you switch the inversion based on where the angles develop. My ideal lineup looks like this: New GK James Fofana Colwill Enzo Cucurella Maduake Palmer Caiciado Nkunku Jackson As far as the GK goes, I think the whole "Sanchez profiles well" thing is Chelsea not trying to get taken advantage of in the market. I have not once seen Sanchez do any of the things Maresca requires of his GK, so I have serious doubts he's actually the plan.
Would make too much sense. Managers tend to never start with sense and only do it when their job on the line or we are struggling. He will start the nonsense three at the back along with Sanchez over Petrovic. Bellend
@@KingDice246 True talk that they think they can magically improve players like Sanchez who constantly made mistakes at the back...The only way i accept Palmer at RW is if Nkunku is the 10 but not coz KDH is there....Putting Palmer rw and not 10 denies him from being magical enough but if you have nkunku there it's alright
KDH on the left, Caicedo on the right side of central-midfield. Caicedo can step into the Ndidi role, and KDH just plays the exact same role he played for Leicester last year. Seemless.
With Cucurella playing an inverted role, Maresca has to many players for midfield: Enzo, Caicedo, Gallagher, KDH, Chukwu, Lavia. I see two of these players either loaned out or sold.
WFofana if not injured starts, 2 mths to get match fit. Pairs with Adarabioyo for now until Colwill is trusted. Interesting reversal of the in possession defensive midfielders. The slower but better and not fullly fit playmaker/passer/shooting Fernández at the bottom. The faster presser Cucurella inverted and tucked closer to him. With Caicedo on top in a mix of Gallagher/Kante press role. Hmm. Opportunities here for Gallagher if not sold. Three definites in the attacking midfield - Palmer/Madueke who will benefit from more structure, and better players on the pitch. Two contrasting styles 1v1 and drifting/passing. Fitness/skill/performance fight between Chukwuemeka and Dewsbury-Hall for an attacking playmaker. Another battle left between Sterling/Mudryk/Nkunku. Striker - Jackson, tbd.
Worth mentioning that Caicedo could also play right back out of possession and step into his more usual 6 role in possession next to Enzo. He did this to good effect at Brighton. Leaves Reece James off the pitch though.
We don’t need to sign big names just players who fit the system and make us stronger. Would be good to actually bring in more than we spend and reduce net spend. If we sign a right sided attacker and another striker we will need to sell/loan a lot of players not to have a huge squad again
Everyone seems to assume Cucu will be the inverting FB. But both RJ and Malo will be better there than in the back 3. So Levi at LB and in the back 3 makes sense to me. Either James or Gusto inverting. Pick any other 2 CBs....
My French friends who follow PSG and France are adamant NKunku can’t lead the line by himself. I think they have a point and he seems to me like a perfect second striker or inside winger coming from the left
GK: new keeper RB: malo (sell james, injury prone not captian material) CB: Tosin CB: Chalobah/colwill LB: Cucu (if he keeps playing good) CDM: Caicedo CM: Enzo CM: Gallagher/KDH RW: palmer LW: jackson (hopefully we get Williams) ST: Nkunku
Yan, points for what you think will happen with the lineup. I'd like to see the lineup you'd want. The two together would be a good talking point, side by side.
Can aways count on Yan for my morning dose of the Chels with breakfast. But really I think we end up seeing Nkunku out left mostly. Has the versatility EM looks for and I’m excited to finally see him healthy and within some structure
To add to my previous comment, if Disasi and Badiashile play more than 5 games each in the premier league next season then we are in big big trouble…..
For everyone in the comments just trying to cram every player in, Nkunku is not a out and out winger. If he had a fullback outside of him to be able to roam inside then yes, but as a winger that has the obligation to run in behind and take on players in the wide left position Nkunku will not play. Let’s not be silly here
But he’s absolutely going to play. The owners expect Maresca to fit him in. Even with how well Palmer played last season Nkunku is our most talented player hands down.
Yan where is Nkunku's best position. I have hardly seen him play, but my observation was that when he plays, everyone around him plays well. I think this season will be Sterling's last season, if he's not sold before the season starts.
I feel like this team will be very narrow we need a sterling or mudryk on the left not jackson or nkunku as they will wamt to drift in field on the left half spaces and palmer will be doing tht too making us lack width someone neeesbto hug the touch line so gaps open up in the middle personally id bench Hall and get noni in the RW and bring palmer as one of the eights nkunku up top
would definitely prefer Reece to be the inverted one. way better in midfield than Cucurella and can actually shoot from distance and cross from half space. also Nkunku has to start when fit. there’s no way we are keeping Nkunku and/or Noni out the lineup for DewsbruryHall. atleast I hope not. this lineup is a massive downgrade to last season
Dropping Nkunku is so disrespectful. Man is our highest rated player yet most pundits are dropping him or putting him as a 9. Madness. He plays over everyone in front 3 sans Palmer.
3-2-4-1 Don’t think the 4 should have 2 lefties inverting and 2 right footed. Too narrow . GK Fofana Tosin Colwill James Enzo Cole Moises KDH Nku Jackson . Palmer, Nkunku can start wide but when they collapse on the box Caicedo and Dewsbury are near enough to overlap and provide width on their correct foot. Both Caicedo and KDH can drop if Reece n Enzo forage too far fwd. TBH, James suspension may be covered by Cucu with Enzo shifting over. V City it probably will be one of the CB’s Chalobah, Disasi, even Badiashille
I still think Palmer as the RW denies him the chance to be a real threat coz it's easy to double up on him also makes him work so much tracking back when you need him strong whole season....Palmer should be the 10 always very unpredictable and drop enzo or KDH....If Palmer is not the 10 the only other answer should be Nkunku 💯💯
Am screaming too to anyone who puts him at RW to make him work and be out of energy due to tracking back when he can just remain as a resting 10 who can influence the game from all sides
@elishafry476 I am so disappointed with these Chelsea youtubers keep forcing Palmer on the right wing. Madueke is way more effective cutting in from the right, but they do everything to ignore him. Palmer is more effective down the middle, Madueke is more effective down the right!! Full stop!!!
Wasn't it Maresca who moved Palmer from the 10 to right wing. If we had got Olise then yes, it would make sense to move Palmer inside, but if no one comes, then assume it's Palmer/Madueke for that position. Be interesting to see Gusto pushed forward, wonder if he could develop. Bale made the transition, Gusto has great technical ability.
Sanchez should be sold asap and buy a decent keeper rather than drop points leave the defence with no faith in the guy behind them you can forget top 4 or 5.
Hear me out: Just play a back 3 with Caicedo and Enzo in the pivot with Caicedo covering the right when we're out of possession. So we'll have a box midfield of Caicedo-Enzo; Gallagher-KDH. With Gallagher dropping back to sit next to Enzo when we're out of possession (so 4-4-2 with KDH pressing up high). Play Nkunku false 9 as he's by far our best finisher, and have Jackson and Palmer out wide. Playing left wing will utilize Jackson's best attributes so I think he will cook for us there and also provide an option to play long balls out to the wing as we saw Leicester do last season at times. So much fluidity can be achieved by just using actual centre mids in the box midfield rather than inverting a fullback.
Can certainly be better than this line-up but the 2 biggest weakness, the one at the back and the one at the front. If those 2 remain as starters week in and week out, we will not finish in the top 4. If the new manager believes Sanchez is better than Petrovic, he should use his eyes n not simply look at stats. Jackson is not a striker.
Concerning Jackson, he'll improve his finishing. One of his weaknesses is that he is rarely ever over the ball when striking and he often is leaning back and poking it with his foot when he's looking to finish. That's why he makes. The other reason is that he's overthinking when he's finishing. It's not an instinctive part of his game. I imagine that will also get better.
I agree. Sterling isn't getting into the Chelsea team, let alone the England team. Yan is a bit fixated with him. I just don't see it, we've had 2 seasons of nothing from him, he was already washed up when we got him. They are probably exploring all angles in trying to get rid of Sterling.
True they are delusional and am sure the owners bought KDH coz brighton went for him not because Maresca asked...No manager will be allowed to drop Caicedo or Enzo 220m spent and i also want Palmer as the 10 very unpredictable so i don't see where KDH plays
I don't understand why Arsenal want all these LWs when they have Martinelli. I mean, I don't watch gooners unless they're playing us, is Martinelli a flop or what?
