Ditto that regarding my Spaulding Intimidator! Inspired after seeing that Toulson training racquet to restring it and it hit great!!

Hi tennis nerd. Getting this type of racket is interesting. Do you know anything about Kawasaki graphite ruler? I can't get any details.

Have you tried an old squash rackets? It looks quite similar to the technifiber one…

Instead of sweetspot training, I would consider these items (the pointer and the toalson racquet) as footwork training, because you need to move very fast to hit almost perfect shots all the time. That's why senior players usually play with oversize racquets: they can't move as well as they used to (think of Federer switching to a 97 racquet following Edberg's advice). To improve sweetspot hitting, I tell my players to focus on the feedback they get from their usual racquet and the sound from their strokes. Greetings!

Completely agree, if the feet arent in position you won't be hitting the sweetspot too often.

I use the HEAD IG Prestige Mid (89-90 sq. in.) for contact practice and warmups. For me, it provides immediate feedback on anything less than perfect contact, but it’s forgiving enough for you to maintain a rally during warmup = more balls and less start stop. I’ve tried the Toalson training racquet and it is difficult. The wooden spoon and baseball bat must be next to impossible 🤣

The IG Prestige is fantastic! I regret selling it, but happy it ended up in good hands :D

hey man - great video - from watching you hit, you connect really well even with a wooden racquet. I think you would benefit even more if you did an immediate (or much quicker) shoulder turn i.e. as soon as you know which side the ball is going just immediately turn your shoulders and look at the ball over your shoulder. It will give you a lot more time and easier to connect out in front. Just want to help ;)
@luciustarquiniuspriscus1408
His buddy connects with the baseball bat on most shots, which is mind boggling.
@luciustarquiniuspriscus1408
You should also try the 37" saber mid. I watched a guy play amazing with it, top spin on both sides, could not believe my eyes. Smaller than the taulson but otherwise looks similar.

Hi 👋🏼 i think it’s better to warm up with your normal racket as you getting used to it during the warm up and activate muscles that are used for this particular weight and balance. Sweet spot training tools are good for getting used to keep your eyes on the ball during the contact

You cannot eye the ball on the strings, it's a blur

What strings are you using in your wood racquet? And at what tension? I was actually just looking at some wooden racquets on the Bay last night for this exact same reason.

No, do not buy a wooden racquet; unless it’s less than a fiver in a garage bin sale. Those of us who started tennis in the wooden era and played lots with those obsolete sticks have zero sentimentalism about them. Don’t be conned by phrases like classic, soft feel, beautiful finish etc etc. Until some new miracle material is discovered, graphite makes for the best tennis racquets. You’ll just be paying good money for a wooden stick that once the novelty is over, will get used all of 10 minutes a year (if that). I still have my Dunlop Maxply Forts from 1985, and they remain in great condition. However, I’ve never been inclined to even bring them out for a hit. Relics of the past they are.
@Tennisnerd
@Tennisnerd 2 года назад
Well, that's your opinion. You can get a wooden racquet for 5 bucks and hang it on the wall if you don't want to hit with it sometimes. I like them. Doesn't mean I play matches with them.

Would never use any device like this; you aren’t even able to take real swings. Intermediate and advanced players should be able to feel in which direction they missed the pocket and know why - usually footwork fail - too close or far from the ball - or late on the swing. PS / I’m also not an advocate of ‘mini tennis’ - warming up at the service line. Better to hit from the baseline with very gentle strokes, slowly ramping it up after 3-4 minutes.
