Which Victorian Romantic Tarot Will Stay? 

I do not have this deck, however the new edition feels more rich to me. It feels like they did more shading and adding another layer of gold to the images. I do realize this could also come from the lighting as well. They are both absolutely stunning, but I prefer the newer one. 💜

I'm SO glad you did a side by side!! The 4th edition is my first Victorian Romantic and I'm so pleased with it!! I think that, overall, I really prefer the new cards in the ones that you showed side by side so I'm glad I waited for this edition... but i agree that there are not *enough* changes that if i had the previous one and was bonded with it- I probably wouldn't have gotten this newer edition. I do KINDA wish I had the regular cardboard box too though. LOL

That second Emperor card in the Egyptian style is from the first OOP edition. I think the Victorians were very enamoured with other cultures they deemed to be "exotic", hence the inclusion. But yep, it's not a "new" card to the deck at all, it's the original Victorian Romantic deck's Emperor card.

One year late, but I am so happy I finally came across someone talking about VRT!! I have the first edition and gold edition. Lots of different cards on ones you have! The Emperor you called "new" is what I have. I like the new version of Emperor very much :) Thank you so much for sharing those two editions ~

Thanks for the walkthrough Dawn, the 4th edition is available on eBay and I think it’s so beautiful also. As they aren’t going to print any more I am going to go for it. Your video helped me decide. 😊

I just bought this deck as a birthday present for myself and I should get it tomorrow. I can't wait to geek out looking through it and to work with it -it's so beautiful! I almost got this deck just to touch it, but nah. 😅 Regarding your comments on the diversity attempt... yeah, I think you're right. I think they ended up tokenizing some of the cards. The Queen of Pentacles had the most effort put into it; I wish they did a bit more. If you're interested in the topic, I highly recommend Sparkle Divine Tarot's video on Diversity vs. Tokenism. I love this deck so much, it is my favourite of all the Baba decks. I was thrilled to get my hands on the third edition last year having missed out initially (my favourite backs as well) but i also had to have the new edition when i heard it was being released. Funnily enough i only noticed in your side by side comparison that the new 10 of wands does not have a bleeding leg in this edition. I like to keep the new edition as my travel copy in my bag so I'm pleased to have both but the third will always be my 'true love' 😂. I also thought the new box was lovely but prefer the clam-shell box of the third edition. Thank you for showing them

Thank you for sharing your Beautiful Decks I don't have this deck either version yet But I am definitely putting it on my To get List I have noticed that you and many tarot readers Always remove extra options cards from your Decks I personally Never remove any cards from my Decks They usually have different art or colors which can Give different meanings and interpretations In readings They are great for confirmations on certain questions and Or situations Sometimes giving double and triple Confirmations when they come out in the same readings I understand everyone reads different and use their Decks the way they are led to I just find it interesting concerning the extra options cards I really enjoyed watching your video and seeing the Different editions ❤

The blue box you have is the 3rd edition. I used to own a 2nd edition but I honestly preferred the 3rd edition over everything else. It was beautifully done and I was unfortunately disappointed with the 4th edition. I don’t like the hearts on the backs it just felt tacky to me. The blue backs in the 3rd edition are gorgeous! Beautifull deck

What is perfectly paired with this deck is the Revival art tarot the second edition, they literally speak to each other and to me. Only two cards side by side and they make a complete scene easy to understand. I insist with the second edition of Revival. I tried with the first and it's not the same. They send messages so clear, so right , sometimes I would like to have a real conversation to ask: How can you guys know it so much? Try it, you won't be disapointed.

The Magician card is missing the star on the floor on the new edition

I don't understand why the Egyptian Emperor is white... For the Queen of Swords, it does look like the previous one was white-washed so the second one looks more accurate to me, but honestly, it is kinda weird. It's a pretty deck (they both are) but I agree with you that the first one is the one to keep for you. It's always hard for me to decide when I'm comparing editions, there are always different cards I like better in each deck so I don't have one favorite. They should keep the backs the same so we can mix-n-match! haha

Honestly, I plan to keep both my third edition VCT and the newer edition VCT. I already have a deep bond with my existing deck and I wanted a newer version for a back-up copy. There's no shame in keeping both editions! You seem very bonded to your third edition deck, I recommend you hold on to it and retire it in your home (rather than selling it). You may regret it if you sell it too soon, and want it back. The new fourth edition will be the final printing of the VCT. I recommend you keep it. You missed the change in the Page of Cups, they changed the skin color of the girl next to the page boy.

Thanks for showing this comparison! I did buy the new edition, but unfortunately it’s not for me. But I did enjoy your video. I know you started addressing diversity in this video and stopped. It would be really great if you elaborated about diversity on your channel! You have a really prominent voice in this community and it would be great to hear your point of view. I don’t think it’s a topic that needs to be shyed away from.

I have the very first edition, in the tuck box. Never use it.... For some reason I can't relate to it. Who knows we'll get along in the future 🤷🏻‍♀️ On the other hand, the Victorian Flower Oracle is so used, it's showing a bend already.

You missed the black dude in 3 of Pentacles.

You should of spent some time with the two decks before doing the video as you missed many changes as you rushed through the cards.
