Brian Lagerstrom is a cheesehead -- meaning he really, *really* loves fine cheeses. He doesn't wear one of those cheese hats. At least, I think he doesn't.
Brian is the absolute goat of RU-vid cooks. He never misses with his recipes, he's charismatic and funny without coming off as annoying or taking away from the recipe. Plus he doesnt mess with any bougie BS that Josh W tends to lean into. Brian all the way 💪
Mythical Chef Josh, and JW are amongst my favorite RU-vidrs to watch period, even if I don't care about what they're cooking. MC Josh's other content like the podcast and his interview series "Last Meals" are must watches for anyone. I'd argue he'll be at Sean from Hot Ones level of interviewing in a year or two at this rate.
@@StonedCabbage MSG is amazing. And I wouldn't call him pretentious; he's just a more serious chef than someone like MCJ. I suggest listening to the episode of Mythical Kitchen podcast 'A Hotdog is a Sandwich' with JW. Might change your mind.
@@Cessate lol I mean he definitely is a little pretentious, especially when rating other foods and when it comes to his "but better" series. Saw a good video that explained how his brisket technique was filled with inaccuracies. I mean sure MSG is good but I've gone my whole life making great recipes without using it or needing it and it just seems like every dish he makes he can't go without it
@@StonedCabbagehe doesn't put msg in everything. He literally has a video on whether everything should have msg or not and he disagreed, they shouldn't.
Ive said this before and I will scream it to the roof tops! Your videos and content are criminally unknown and under viewed! You are so damned good bro. I like and share as often as I can. You should have 1mil + views on your videos by now. Keep fighting the good fight my man. Love this channel!
I appreciate how JW's recipes are never too crazy but he always has a secret weapon that he utilizes to make sure his recipe stands out. Like he'll incorporate a unique sauce or ingredient to make the food go to the next level. And I appreciate that in a world full of food that doesn't often stand out from the rest in its class.
I appreciate your descriptions of what and why you liked each. I feel confident in which I would choose, because you gave enough for me to make that decision. I'd go with J W, but also think it a bit too sweet, so I'd use less of that sauce. I can't stand the flavor of mold, and generally don't like spicy hot as a primary flavor. If I was to make that one, I'd double down on the cream sauce to mellow the overall spicy and pair it with a drink that does similar. (perhaps a mint milkshake or an iced thai tea?)
I love Brian and Josh (Weisman). My 2 favorite cooking channels. I will now add this guy to the rotation. Great video. Love how you have your own style, and the references to the other guys is hilarious 😂
Mystical Kitchen doesn't necessarily make "good" food. They make very entertaining food. But they really need to know what they're talking about/doing in order to make whacky foods that are edible. You'll never see their foods in restaurants, but it's so fun to see the weird things they come up with
Like in the last meals series, most of the food is made by them unless it's requested to get it from a specific place. And even then, when they can't get it from that place, they learn and make it themselves.
I love potato buns I think they suit interesting burgers that have a lot going on. Brioche is nice with a simple chicken and lettuce or beef patty with slice of cheese and salad filling or even dessert. Potato buns just carry flavour so well!
Josh with his Shiro Dashi. Puts it in everything and says it so easy to find. Can’t find that literally anywhere. Not even in Asian specialty markets and I live in Pittsburgh, not some tiny town. It annoys me everytime he’s like “oh you NEED this and it is essential to the dish!” Guess I’m not gonna ever make his recipes
just buy it online. *I learned 1st-hand how important certain ingredients are to making an amazing dish vs just ok:* ^ oyster or fish sauce in stir fry - sounds disgusting vs flavors I like, but is actually what makes that must-get-another-bite-in-my-mouth experience. ^ black vinegar & shou shing wine - if you want your chow mien (and other dishes) to have that taste that is just missing from home versions. ^ a lot of beef dishes really need some kind of earthy flavor (I tend to go earthy green) and also need some kind of sour (I tend to go for sour cream into the mix to cook and caramelize a bit)
Solid, Adam...and your conglomeration at the end was SPOT ON perfection! I might give it a go, tho I might add a little potato starch and baking powder in the breading...I'm not a big fan of sweet sauce either, especially dunking the whole fried chicken thigh in it. I don't even like wings tossed in sauce. I gotta try that cole slaw!
Glad you mentioned the Mississippi Delta. I’m from Greenville… THEE BEST!! But some of these ingredients aren’t in any of ours stores. We have a lot, but we’re still behind in a lot of things.
Worked at appleznbeeez in the early 90s. Not sure if/when it changed, but their original buffalo sauce for wings was just regular Tabasco and mayo...put them + the cooked wings in a container and shake the whole thing up.
Almost underselling how good that blue cheese dressing recipe is. I'm normally 100% team ranch but after making that blue cheese recipe from Brian I will take that over ranch every time.
Hey bro, love the video , just a small request if you would be so kind to post a link for where to buy the cutting board you have i would really appreciate it :)
I just saw your video on the beef with the gardenelichi. Or whatever. With that cooking guy, who is a germa phobe. I was all ready subbed, bur now your getting recommended. That is nice, good content.
Why add vinegar to the buffalo sauce? The Frank's hot sauce and Worcestershire are both mostly vinegar already. That little dribble isn't going to make a dent in the flavor or texture.
Subscribed because good video. And also because I think brioche buns are fine, but I don't get the hype around them to the point of excluding other buns. I was just thinking about how potato buns are better the other day.
I knew Brian's recipe would win this. JW's recipes are memes for a reason. Many of his recipes are either too advanced or too time consuming, and MJ's recipe just flat-out never stood a chance.
Josh #2 had a wild recipe, actually doesn't look bad though! I mean, visually... kind of, but the idea of making a blueberry sauce is neat. 4:45 NO ADAM DONT JUGGLE THE MASON JAR AAAHHHH In typical shootout fashion, I gotta wonder how those sandwiches were temp/sogginess-wise at taste time. You're really fast and precise at putting things together (sans lemon cheek rip) but it seems tricky to order this all! Unless the only thing you really need to time is the fried chicken... Brian is definitely my favorite of these 3 as I like a good buffalo sauce. But I do have a soft spot for the approach Josh's goes for with slaw and Korean Fried Chicken flavors. BUT, I think I like your chicken the best. I personally love when you let the chicken stand out more not completely coasted in sauce, just dress the bun. I personally like making a simple chicken katsu (with thighs) and throwing that on a toasty bun with a spicy/garlicky mayo. I AM SIMPLE OK?? You made yours by combining the others, but if you go from scratch, what kind of chicken sandwich do you like to make?
Hi. Rec here La (the state). I’ve seen you go for Tony chachere’s for Cajun seasoning. I’d recommend slap ya mama instead (especially the spicier/hotter version). Although idk how easily accessible it is outside La. This is imo, u may like Tony’s more. But yeh. Just throwing it out there for you to try sometime
This one was great!!!!! I am a sucker for a solid fried chicken sandwich. I think I would have voted the same way. If you told me Josh W sandwich was hot and sweet, I may feel a bit different. Classic is king for this type of sandwich. Nice work!
My brother lived there for a couple years and I visited. However, that’s just me butchering the English language and acting a fool. Japan is a beautiful country. Would LOVE to go back.
I don't have a thing against using takis to bread chicken as I've used hot cheetos before but i personally wouldn't use the blue ones as they have a weird after taste to me, i like the buffalo sandwich though without any blue cheese though not a fan
