@@eoghantoner Well, he's British, to be expected, but the BIGLEY Racist is our president, I think he has Hitler's DNA, and can't play guitar nor take responsibility for anything, he lives for glorification 👎👺
A man who lost his son, playing his quitar and weeping inside for the loss of his friend... playing next to a son who lost his father and paying homage for the whole world to see.. Beautiful! Starting my 2020 with all these Greats!
@@martm216 Yep Eric Clapton was a Beatle ... for two songs. He also did backing vocals on "All you need is love". Mind you if you google guest musician that played with the Beatles you literally get hundreds of results. These include Billy Preston, Mick Jagger, Donovan, Keith Richards, Keith Moon, Brian Jones, Maryanne Faithful as well as various backing singers and other instrumentalists.
@@martm216 : He wasn't a Beatle, of course, but he was the one who recorded the solo for the original song, back in 1968 (the Beatles asked him). So, when you listen the double White Album of the Beatles, when comes the solo of this song, you're listening to God.
Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Billy Preston, Ringo Starr, and all the others did a really superb job singing and playing George Harrison's songs in this concert. They are really great, beautiful renditions of George's songs.
@@CJ-ci1ri other way around. It was Clapton the Beatles kept asking to play. John was not known for how well he played the guitar. In fact George was better.
@@Rashnak66Hard to argue but, Jimmy Page around 1973 reached an untouched magic level never topped by any Rock guitarist even influencing EVH's famous finger tap. 🎸☮️💕
I love how guys like Eric Clapton survive addiction and personal tragedy to wind up looking like an average Dad you'd meet at Bunnings. Gives me faith in humanity.
That's why them dudes is who they are and we aren't. I'm just as impressed with how perfectly Paul and Eric hit the high notes with precision and on time and not a fraction of a note off. That's every bit as splendid, especially 40-some years after the song was released. Nobody's in their 20s anymore, so the purity of their singing voices to me is equally mind-blowing.
@@talkswithvigy7860 Oh of course! And I've seen a few of the others. They're all excellent but don't all have the crispness of this performance. That alone is hard to do when you've performed this so many times you're doing it in your sleep. You'd think that after the gazillionth time playing this that boredom would set in or it comes in at something less than 100%. Not here, they nailed it.
I can't imagine how surreal this was for Paul McCartney. Dhani Harrison was 10 years older at this show than his dad was when his dad joined the Beatles.
M ike, I think Paul can handle this and he might have "heard" about Dhabi before.... There is nothing surreal about sons looking like their fathers. Even Paul might have seen this before... ;-)))
not that Paul McCartney needed any inspiration to sing in this venue but I think I can read the extra emotion when he looks in Dhani's direction, he sees George in his memory right there
Thumbs up is not enough. 5 stars is not enough either. I give this song and all musicians a big 10 stars. Thank you all for this wonderful performance.
Absolutely one of the greatest pieces of music ever written, and performed in such a way that will be played on repeat for generations to come. Utterly soulful performance 🙏🙏🙏
Music is the great teacher, the great healer, the greatest friend. Clapton's playing is magnificent and indescribable, unforgettable... a fitting tribute to George. We have not forgotten you.
Eric Clapton was fantastic in the entire concert but especially with this song. He can really play the guitar. So much talent in one place. Loved the entire concert for George Harrison ❤
I’ve never seen so many great musicians collaborate to celebrate their fellow musician’s legacy. Just shows you what an amazing friend and human being George Harrison was!
George Harrison once referred to Eric Clapton (when he stole and married Patti Boyd from Harrison) his Husband-In-Law. That was George Harrison's way of forgiving and moving forward with life. RIP George Harrison (my favorite Beatle).
for a second I was also a bit confused. Then I looked at the title and I figured who that was. Poor kid. he was overwhelmed by his father's death, and he organized this. Christ!
George, Eric Clapton and George 's first wife Patti Boyd, were in a love triangle. Eric Clapton fell in love with Patti Boyd, and she left George for Clapton. The song Layla was written for her. The relationship between the two famous guitarists was always strained, although they played together on stage on several occasions. I kept thinking about it when Eric was playing George's song, to honor his life's work.
Listening to this on George's 81st birthday. This performance is still just stunning. Once again McCartney reminds us that he created that opening piano riff and keeps it going throughout. All the musicians here are just bringing it.
Me too. He looks just like his dad and you can see he's trying his best to keep up with the old dogs who could play this song in their sleep. It its a masterpiece!
It's true! I think the same thing, it looks like a lament for the farewell to an old and dear friend! His guitar speaks, sings ... and sometimes cries! it's a GOD!
a musician told me that so many drummer friends of Georges wanted to play that 3 were contracted. I think its an awesome sound, very strong! the bongo player is happy for sure!!
My friend just passed of late this is has been a song for him for awhile I heard it from a friend when I was 12 my friend's dad was 52 I feel in love with the Beatles because of Doug marr thank you and your blessed even in the Afterlife
I thought that Eric had sort of stopped playing the song as it was recorded initially but he nailed it almost perfectly here, Beautifully played.go go go Eric .
At about 4:25, Eric Clapton really starts wailing on the guitar and getting into it. After a bit, Jeff Lynne seems totally mesmerized by his performance. 😲🎸
George's talented look a like son, Paul ♥, and the first Beatle whose name i could say when i was a baby, Ringo looks INCREDIBLY youthful now. he could pass for my age easily. This song is one of my favorites. i play it on the piano sometimes. (other performers Eric Clapton i recognize, others i recognize but not certain of their names. it's so moving they not only perform one another's songs but sing and play it with the same passion as if the song's their own. They are equally magnificent if i temporarily suppress favoring the original Beatles.
This song is just as much a Clapton song, as much as he'd disagree, him playing lead on the original recording really makes it stand out... at least to me.
And he is the same talented and charming as his father! I wish that legends like George H. could live forever, to share good music, good sounds and good vibes!

Thanks so much for this comment!! I could not remember Albert Lee’s name to save my life and i had always wondered who played lead guitar on all these tribute songs for George. Marc Mann is a great guitarist!
Since 90s Clapton has really reached a new peak with his guitar playing. His pure clean strat sound with so smooth trills, crying bends and excellent phrasing really make me shiver every time i hear him playing. We all know it's really hard to play it fast but Clapton plays slow blue with such finest which is even much harder
Holy crap do you realize if the commies had nuked Royal Albert Hall at that moment the evolution of music on Earth would cease to exist. Not to mention WWIII. Those EMP's are bad for electronics.
Eric clapton is the best guitar player ever! Nobody has been included to the rock n roll hall of fame more times than eric clapton. He is my absolute favorite artist. Im gonna cry for a month when he dies
Actually you're wrong; sure I accept these guys have immense talent and skill, but when you put it that way, it makes you seem to be ignorant, there are so many musicians who are still producing and making good music, you just have to find them. While my taste may differ from yours, I hope you find some good musicians and immerse yourself in your new found wisdom.
@@vitoa4504 I actually love new musicians like Grace Vanderwaal, Shane Mendes, etc. The only thing is that I like artists not performers. There's a difference. 90% singers today are performers not artists. I only like those who write their own songs and their own music.
Bongo guy -Ray Cooper has played with some of the most famous musicians, Eric, Paul, Elton , Mick, just to name a few. If I'm not mistaken I've seen him on award shows too.
George deserve this concert and much more. I love George Harrison ever. I' m glad his son is playing with them. I love this music for ever and ever. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely! This song came out when I was 8, but I didn't hear it until I was a little older. Our neighbor had a bunch of Beatles records, and invited our family over to listen to Abbey Road. I loved it. He told me that any time I wanted to come listen to more, I could. I took him up on that. He played this song for me, among many others, and I was hooked.
A wonderful and heavenly performance! Eric is playing heart and soul ! And he’s calm and terrific at the same time! What a blesson for us during this Covid-19 darkness! Thank God: we have hope ! God is Alive !
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Clapton's guitar unbelievably actually seems to be weeping. An absolute genius performing another genius' song. Fantastic.
Give my channel a boost. Visit it! I covered this song and any others. Hope you enjoy it! Dê uma força no meu canal. Visitem-lá! Fiz um cover dessa música e de diversas outras. Espero que goste!
It's worth noting however, Marc Mann carried most of the backing solo parts on behalf of Eric so that EC could focus on the lead vocal. Of course, out of deference to EC, Marc went into arpeggio mode during EC's main solo, but it was Marc Mann who was actually doing most of the backing solo work through the length of the concert. Excellent teamwork all round.
@@coro3975 yep, i fell in love with the tune the first time i listened to it. Later i discovered the guitar solo is played by this god and not a beattle
@@SuperAllanjames Well as you know George persuaded Eric to come in and do some overdubs at Abbey Road on WMGGW and those totally changed the tone of the track to a much more rock feel. According to Mark Lewisohn's book Eric's commanding solo lines inspired the other Beatles to "try a bit harder" on George's song and the results speak for themselves. Soon after George reciprocated by co-writing Badge with Eric.
Hi sir! Could you please educate me how many songs did HARRISON write on his own while in The Beatles and afterwards. I am from Russia.. and i lack the information. Thanks..
@@stevemorse1208 The Beatles recorded 22 songs solely credited to George and 3 more he co-wrote, including the amazing SheSaidSheSaid. After the Beatles George recorded hundreds of his own songs. I hope that helps.
The stars must have all aligned..because this is a Stellar band. Talent galore....and the collaboration is spot on. I could watch and listen to this all day. Plus...everyone appears to be genuinely enjoying the moment.Kudos!!
Well, Clapton was on the original recording. Prince's version was amazing though. I wish Clapton were in the version with Prince. That would have been incredible.
Dhani is so lucky to have so many of his dad's friends that really loved George!! What a great group of men that George knew they would always there for the two most important people he had to leave behind, his Dhani and Olivia!! We love and miss you so much George!😢 ❤❤
Oh, my gosh... Thx for telling me it was Dhani, he resembles George so much till I thought it was George, and this is a remastered kind of footage from 60's...
