Dave , very nice tasty budget meal , yes on us & the girls & this being a somewhat Asian dish, yes on broccoli, lol, plus some match stick cut carrots , & I always use low sodium soy sauce, everyone should to control the sodium in the recipe, salt can always be added. I'm going to boil my rice with beef base, the concentrated stock when water is added & best brand is in a jar, is in a paste consistency ( name Better than Bouillion), I never use broth, this will give a good beefy flavor to the rice , easy ratio as the base will tell on the jar how much base to add to how much water, on uncle Ben's I think it is 2 cups of water so about a tbls of base, keep your stick on the ice pal
@TheCooknShare
@TheCooknShare Год назад
Hey Steve. Love the idea of the carrots. Where are you when I'm filming. LOL. Yes, I thought of broccoli - wonder why? Love the idea of the rice in the beef base too. Have you ever thought about making your own ground beef. Not sure if it would be cheaper or not. I know it would be better. Let's talk about this at the lodge meeting.
@stevelogan5475
@stevelogan5475 Год назад
@TheCooknShare Dave my friend , thank you for your kind words ,yes the girls know you can get broccoli with Asian food, lol, & yes on the grinding, I have one with different size holes that goes on the mixer & one that will fasten to a butcher block table with a C clamp. I buy chuck roast, issues are , they do not tell you the meat ratio of meat to fat, like ground meat,you have to eyeball it & don't know what it looks like underneath in the package., & you will almost always have to double grind to even out the fat in the meat. I always buy ' certified' black Angus ground chuck , 80/20 or 85/15 depending on meal , no better deal for the money, no less , no more than those two , higher fat ratio (75/25) is greasy & you lose quite a bit of size , lower fat( 90/10) is to lean, less flavor., hope that helps, see you at the lodge pal
@TheCooknShare
@TheCooknShare Год назад
Again, great tips, Steve. I have the food processor, so I'm going to give it a shot in that. I'll try your idea about the chuck. Thanks again, Steve. I'm sure Bill would have something there too.
@stevelogan5475
@stevelogan5475 Год назад
@TheCooknShare lol, the one thing about the food processor Dave, it can mince the beef instead of grind so the texture will be different, you want your beef good and cold for the food processor pal, you may not like the consistency for burgers, but ok for salisbury steak, meat loaf , etc... give it a shot though, you may like it pal

Hey I made your hamburger Helper recipe. The only thing I added was mushrooms but I forgot the corn starch. Not sure but it needs something but I can't figure it out. Well things aren't going well for my Son. His lawyer told him 2 days ago he needed to give him $5,000.00 by today (friday)Friday. We have been doing a lot of praying. If he don't come up with the money we will never see his son again. The lawyer said that he's 100% sure he will win his case. But he is screwed if he doesn't pay the money. He won't let him make payments either. Thanks for listening.
