This video shows you how to manually open your washer door if it ever gets stuck. First try to unplug or turn power off for a few minutes and turn back on, but if that doesn't work try this method in the video. Thanks for watching!
You, my friend, are a lifesaver!! Never fails that something will go wrong at 11 pm. 30 mins later and its back in business and the clothes are in the dryer. Once I got it open - realized that the screws on the door latch were loose! All tightened up and it seems to be running good again. 👏👏
This worked! Unplugging didn't re-set it. Draining the drain hose into a bucket didn't re-set it. Manually unlocking the door re-set it instantly! Back up and running like new. Too many suds caused the drain pump to cavitate, IMO. Used a little Dawn on a large grease spot on a comforter. Live and learn. Thanks for your help!!!
I was just about to call the repairman and I thought I'd give it a shot. IT WORKED! THANK YOU!! Such easy to follow and understand directions as well!!
Well I looked up videos cause my washer would stop and drain and not open the door and read error and make the beeping noise every so often. I learned in video you can open the top but I didn’t do that just yet because it didn’t make sense to me when the washer is new the manufacturer is not gonna expect you to open if there’s a little problem, I will resort to that if desperate to take clothes out if nothing else works. But then I learned you can turn unplug machine for a while then plug in and it will let you open door. Did they but I continued to have locking issues afterward. Then I learned about factory reset by pressing buttons 123 123 123 which helped. But my problem is that it continues to stop and remain locked constantly more so than often. I saw on another video about tube drainage problems and the reason it locks is because it senses drainage problem, something obstructing the drainage tube and therefore locks to prevent reuse until that problem is fixed and of course to prevent water from spilling out when door is opened if it stopped mid way during cycle and didn’t drain properly. Makes sense and figured this is the problem that continues to lock my washer and will now be fixed once I clean it. Was happy however, I checked my tubes and everything is clean and perfectly fine! So HOW THE HELL am I left to wash with this new laundry when it continues to lock and stop during spin and drain cycle?!? 😭
Thanks so much! In a VRBO and the “breaker off” idea was the key to reset it so to get the interlock released. Someone previous to us had used brute force out of desperation and had fractured 1/3 of the plastic handle in frustration, so we didn’t want to finish it off! Just poor engineering control logic back at the ‘Whirl of Pools’ office… so thanks for bailing us out 👌🏼we left a note.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I haven't tried it yet. Just got over surgery and can't lift or pull much, but I have the best Brother-in-law in the world and I'm calling him to help.
Other things to try Blinking 'door locked' issue: 1. I turned power off for several minutes, but no help. 2. We took the top panel off and opened the door with the pull switch, and the light went out but the draining noise continued and no response to power or other buttons. 3. Took off back panel and cleaned out the pump filter, but no change. 4. Blew out the drain pipe thinking it was a sensor, but no help. 5. Dumped water in the washer and closed the door and after a few minutes, the noise stopped and all back to normal! Not sure if any "one" of these fixed it, but that was what we did. FYI, I think the problem started with us because our hot-water-heater water supply was turned off and I think it caused a sensor issue. We did get some code, but someone powered it off before I could get the code.
WOW you are a genius. I have a similar Maytag front loader. No one can come to fix it for 6 weeks (WTF)!!!! I called Maytag and they can do NOTHING. I will give this a try. I do not want to leave wet clothes in a washer for 6 weeks!
Would disconnecting it be a good idea or would it not work without it, in my opinion the locking mechanism is so do dumb, our dryer turns on when its closed and you just open the door for it to shut off, does that apply to this?
I was able to open the top and open the door through the release. The red door locked stopped blinking, but it makes motor noise like it is draining, but nothing is happening?
In some duet models the pull tab is facing downwards, which might make it hard to reach and pull. If that's the case, one could remove the front bottom panel and reach up.
My problem is is that every time I finish washing it stays locked and then I have to put clean rinse and then still I have to disconnect that every time.
Thanks, I was able to unlatch it and get my clothes out; however after plugging it back in, the light is still red and making the annoying sound... any ideas? Thanks
Why don't these jerks who design these things put a manual release on them!!! This is so ridiculous. Mine is in an apt crammed in a tiny nook with the dryer on top of it, so now I have to try and find someone to help me get the dryer off it, maneuver the dryer out of this tiny room, take the top off the washer then put it all back, just to open the stupid door.
Pure Life Official I flipped the breaker which did allow me to open the door. The clothes inside were soaking wet so I guess that means the spin/drain cycle isn’t working and I need a service call. At least I was able to remove the wet clothes rather than have them locked inside getting moldy until I can have it fixed. Thanks for the tip!
Pure Life Official Question - We have 2 washers and 2 dryers stacked beside each other (big family - we needed the extra) and the other washer isn’t having this problem. Is there a separate drain pump filter for each washer?
Absolutely terrible design. If the machine fails with wet clothes in it and you need to wait days for a repair person, your clothes will rot. If the machines are stacked you have to get the dryer off to even do this procedure. If you have an "F" code, turning the power off will not reset the door lock. WTF?? Very poor logic built into these new machines. Give me my old '90s Kenmore basic washer and dryer back!
