I’m also black and Asian but my skin is dark so everyone just assumes I’m only black and my hair is kinda different but it still knots up very fast like African hair
@@aubsion2670 Yaa so I’m 50% black 30% white and then 20% Filipino I’m lightskin more ona darker side when I gotta fro or braids/locs everyone assumes I’m just a mixed black dude but if I go with a buzz or waves I look Spanish af 😭💯
Showed my wife your channel a while back to convince her to loc up with me, but she’s also mixed (w mom/b dad) and just watches to support. She feels the same as you, sadly not enough mixed children speak out about it. So thank you for using your platform in ways you can make a difference 💪🏽
im mixed too and ive been called racist names from both races bc im mixed but my hair is only a little nappy so i felt like i didnt fit in with white kids or black kids and made me embcare 1 race and forget abt da other
I’m mixed I have a white mom and a black dad but I look white. I look as if I have no black in me. I got twists and went to school and got made fun of. I took them out and never wore them again. Now I’m going to start my loc journey because you inspired me. Thank you
I find that it people speak that way it is normally because familial ties, or lack there of or because they've been conditioned to think it those terms by society
I am a Loctiton ; I So Agree about two strand twist is great for curly texture hair. It makes the Retwist last so much Longer. And once its time to take the Twist out you can wear it crinkly also for a week or 2. So you Really get 2 Styles in one. Good video. "Shout Out to the Stylist also".... She done a Great job! 🏅
I’m Jamaican and I know a lot about locks but I just want you to know that Bob Marley was biracial too but he was extremely proud of his locks and the religion of Rastafarian.
Thank you for speaking up on your mixed heritage. I’m mixed too. Jamaican mom and Scandinavian dad. Brought up in London. And I really related to your story. I’m debating locs and this is definitely giving me the push ❤
Love ya brother, God doesn’t make mistakes and He loves us through ours, even He cries when we lose things and people close to us. Your hair looks amazing and I’m glad you continue to be a man of God while doin your thing G
thank you alot!!! ive been watching for a while now and wanted to share what i did because of your videos i braided the hair as box and let them lock for a little over 2 months then after i started to use the crotchet needles to lock and refine and also did the rub in hands as well it works super good thank you!!
Hi gunther I just wanna say you helped me start my loc journey and i have had my locs for 8 months i have a 3b hair type and my locs are just starting to gain a lot of hang time and im pretty lightskin and i always get told chop my dreads of or stuff like whys ur hair so stinky or like chop of those whiteboy dreads or stuff like your to white to have those locs and ive felt like chopping my locs off but just want to say youve encourage me a lot to stay on this journey thanks Gunther
I’m mixed but my hair is more curly , the black community picks and chooses who they accept lightskin for blacks , you gotta have black facial features and have that aura, I can see why they say your white but you a brotha
The black community is way too big for that statement to hold. Many (African) Americans have been conditioned to believe that anyone with at least one black parent is black. But still, some AA might define black people as a person who has 2 black parents/at least 3 black grandparents and define someone with 1 black parent and 1 white parent as mixed, while others might determine someone's race based on appearence - phenotype and hair texture.
Good for you, you are the first mixed white black person i heard on video embracing being both which is a good thing, its awesome being a unique individual. My kids are mixed too and i teach them to be proud of who they are. About the dreads, mixed people i feel have the best dreads, in terms of free form rasta type dreads which i am really in to, like bob marley, j cole nyjah huston type dreads.
I can relate to you as well. I’m 87% black and 13% white. But I have gotten the “you’re not black enough colorism too as a light skin black person. Like you said embracing your unique and diversity and not allowing people to determine your outcome. Never let your light dim down.
Very Nice Outcome. TRY 4 Locs per Twist next time. That Actually Take less time and the Twist will be thicker. It gives it a Whole different look too. Thanks for Sharing.
@@Onlyyuniqueno if they have a black mother then they will act way more black then a black dad cuz most kids follow after there mother cuz the kids always like the mothers side of the family more if the father really ain’t in they life
I brought up getting locs to my friends, they said I didn’t look “thug” enough and that I was “too smiley” (not really being mean I didnt take it to heart), I want locs but idk if I’d look good with them since the people I’ve talked to have been against it
I under to watch your content 6 years ago.. Your content was super inspirational.. From talking about gym, to christianity and the dread journey.. now i kinda feel like you just post click baits about dreadlocs.. Hope you get back to the proper content I miss. Wishing you love all the way from South Africa bro ...
Ayye gunther me and you have small dreads tips stop twisting ur hair so often , keep your two strand twist in for like 2 months at the most then I say wait like 3 weeks go get tht retwist
Bro can you please do Rylo Rodriguez Dread Loc breakdown he black but he got American Indian in his family so Everybody sayin he got extensions it might be the fastest growth
I have a similar hair texture like you (I’m German and Black) and I have had dreads before, but the girl who did them (white) moved away. The hair salons in my town that call themselves “loc experts” always give me bs about my hair and why I could never get them. Then I have to tell them and show them pics. They also say insta locks won’t work for my hair 🤦🏽♀️ so I said all that to say this. I can to my own in the front but what is the best way for the back? I get frustrated and wash them out 😢 any advice or videos on doing the back of the head?
The title is insane, to anybody with a functioning brain they would say you look mulatto or mixed or possibly even Dominican cause the hair texture, but PX is a weird place so I’m not surprised
Your so awesome . I have six malino children and two African American children. They are all just great children. Your Definitely right though. Embrace who you are & love yourself for who you are. We are all of different colors and it's a beautiful Thang to be different. Myself my blood line runs real deep . Anyway God bless you and stay positive. So many unhappy people on the world that needs help. HURT PEOPLE :HURT PEOPLE.
@gunther I just found this video, i heard you say you mix and I was wondering if respectfully ask for your advice? Please feel free to say no if you feel uncomfortable or disrespect.
I just started my loc journey and I heard you say washing your hair, mean quicker growth. How do i wash with starter locs? They aren’t little short ones also.
