When I was in College students slept all over the place lounges, the library, common areas outside of offices because it was finals and we were all cramming. Nobody called the police. This was unnecessary and ridiculous and the Black student was correct she had every RIGHT to be there. In fact the tuition she pays is what pays the salaries of those police.
I would move all of the lounge chairs into a bed for myself and sleep! I am so glad nobody harassed me like this, I'm afraid I'd be in jail. I would not react so calmly...
@Luther Portnoi Not only was she NOT in the wrong place, that female has a habit of doing that. In fact she did it a friend of the black girl some time prior to this incident.
Um, a "pick" is what you do when you're looking for a snack while sifting through your boogers, a "pic" is an abbreviation for a picture. I'll be over educating if you need anymore help.
Man, Joolz, you coulda fooled me. That old floppy worn out slab of roast beef you got hanging there I surely thought was a sweaty ball bag. And that frickin swollen member you call a labia is sooo big I think it could actually get erect. Is that why you had to say....its me joolz! Cause people see your macro penis and confuse you for a Jim? No y'all, its still me joolz!! Lol
Angelica Rideaux You my sister are racist. I call you my sister because we're all human, you just have different genes & possibly grew up differently than I.
Students sleep on campus at universities all the time. All. The. Time. It’s an extremely common practice. About as common as spending 2 minutes in Starbucks without ordering anything. These stories make me sick!
False reports should be a crime. Wasting police time should become an offence, in fact really unnecessary call outs should be a fine. That case with Yale wasted 15 minutes+ of police time that could of been used elsewhere. Talk about inefficiency no wonder crime is rampant.
In Toronto, not only are false reports *never* a crime, but the police's approach in Toronto is to arrest/charge the "suspects" anyways, and let it be sort out in court afterwards.
I'm white and experience the same thing when I fell asleep n the common room...it's Yale policy.A rule.We cannot even loiter... This is a case of a nutty neighbor, not skin color.
AWE SUM Doubt you go to Yale. The comment you made doesn't sound like a University student at all. Pro tip: When making a claim on a policy of a particular place, it helps with the credibility of your statement that you place the citation of the very policy you are referring to.
BRUH we ALL sleep in the most RANDOM of places at college. Students just know, you gotta do what you gotta do? No one disturbs the sleepy person nor touches their things. This was just uncalled for.
And if a person is sleeping, that’s a non threatening person anyway. I’ve fell asleep in some weird places during college bc I was so tired. Books wide open, pencil in hand just knocked out lol
We didn’t get that much story all we got was the cellphone video so maybe before the camera was on she was told do leave and she kept sleeping there or the girl that called the cops was just being racist or the girl that called the cops would of done it even if the person was white
@@jagged7633 Hello?! Did you forget the male black student in the video who was told to leave by that same white student just because he asked her for directions?
@@angelica9785 what's wrong with the name Rebecca? Plenty of black women named Becky, Becki, Becca or Bex. You're as narrow-minded as this stupid woman calling the cops on a sleeping student
Pat Rooney somebody should take a pic of her face and post it, with the title psychopathic racist on the top, all over campus. I'd say make 10,000 copies and just put them everywhere. Post it all over twitter. Put like 10 of them on her winshield. Cover the doors of her dorm with it and flood all common areas with it. Match her sickness 😂
Nah, she is studying on how to be that annoying neighbour that calls police once a week on black people or kids having fun ourside cuz she is a stay in a home mom with nothing to do.
Advice: humans are capable of immense genius and also immense stupidity. Just because its a prestigious school doesnt mean people there know better than anyone else. Just because someone is homeless doesnt mean theyre a useless drug addict.
white girl needs to prove lives there too. she should be punished for misusing the police like that. they could be fighting a legitmate crime instead of this.
If it's against the rules to sleep there (and that's a big if) then why didn't she just wake her up instead of calling the police?SMH. I'm calling BS on her excuse to call the police.
First it was DRIVING WHILE BLACK . then WALKING WHILE BLACK . SITTING WHILE BLACK , EATING WHILE BLACK . SPEAKING WHILE BLACK . SHOPPING WHILE BLACK . BARBEQUEING WHILE BLACK . now its SLEEPING WHILE BLACK ??? . lol. . I guess soon its gonna be "BREATHING WHILE BLACK" !!!
i wanna hear the 911 call. i gotta know what she said to the operator. “911 what’s your EMERGENCY?”. “ Please come quick, there is a black girl sleeping in the day room in my dorm here at Yale. I fear for my life.”. “is she snoring too loud?” “no she’s just sleeping, please come quick, she looks dangerous sleeping there.”
Well He ain't coming til blood fills the land; wars are rampant and no flesh will be found. We gotta go thru famine, suffering and persecution first. I'm not in a rush
HWTA IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD!? It’s sickening to watch our culture get treated like that! It’s disgusting to just think that I can’t just stand in a Starbucks and wait for someone
After I would've: happily showed my ID, invited the cops into my apartment and then call the residential college dean to come to my room# right away(because I have four cops at my door) and right in front of the cops, I would have went right back to the common room to nap again 😂
Just gently wake her up or leave her sleep, this was overkill and from her previous interaction with the black guy asking for directions racially motivated.
I’m in school right now , I see people sleeping everywhere , I even feel asleep in the lounge outside my room and no one ever called the police on them or me.
Did the student that called the police even apologize for harassing that poor girl. I think after the second Incident she should of been Expelled. Incident
If that is the same Starbucks incident I am thinking of the were told to leave and when they did not that was classified as trespassing so the were arrested.
If the black student had simply "fallen asleep" why were the lights off? In a video it appears that the caller's room was on floor 12. The black student said she had to get back to her room on floor 12. The black student told the police that the only reason for the police to be there was for them to "commit" the caller. So. to me. it sounds like that in all likelihood the two knew each other and much of this was personal animosity and not necessarily racial. Would ABC and other media outlets be pushing this story if it were "Yale student calls campus police on other student"?
What rational people do when they encounter someone sleeping in a place they’re technically not supposed to: 1. Mind your own damn business if the act of sleeping there isn’t bothering anyone. 2. Softly wake them with a quiet “Excuse me?” Or maybe a slight nudge, then say something like “Sorry, but we’re technically not allowed to sleep here. Just wanted to let you know before someone makes a fit.” What Residence Hall Riley does: *calls 911*
are you serious?????? she couldn’t see that there were papers an books by this student? omg! then they say she called about another student who had gotten lost? this white caller needs to be held accountable! pure racism!! im so disgusted
A dorm common area is no way her property, and there is nothing at all suspicious or threatening about sleeping, especially on a university campus where sleeping in common areas is very common and there is no way she has never seen someone do so before. This was probably just the first time see saw a black student doing it. Do you consider asking for directions “suspicious behavior” as well? You sound like the type of person who regularly calls the police on kids for riding their bikes 2 feet on to your drive way.
if the student fell asleep with items that showed she was studying what was the issue, but reading some of the comments on this shows what the issues are and we know what they are. thank about it if the tables were turned.
That's injustice: The lady didn't need to show any ID nor anything when she was on her way, she did not need to "justify her existence," (And I am a racist by some definitions)
Good God, what is wrong with these people? Called the cops because another STUDENT fell asleep? Why don't you just wake him up and tell him the place is closed????
It's horrible but it's more horrible that the African decendant student don't sue that person, there's a lot of laws were this incident could be stop, like false reports is a very important crime, but just waiting to make a social media scandal is not enough specially on this moments
If your area of study is SO BORING you fall asleep writing a paper on it, then you should change your major. Imagine African studies so boring to a black person she falls asleep.
So honest question: when reporting on it why do you need to refer to them as "white girl" and "black girl" - this situation is wrong, the reporting on it is inflammatory though.
If there was a legitimate question about this student in the lounge actually belonging there, it is appropriate to call the police no matter what the race of the person. If this individual has a problem with black students, then they might need to have a talk with her about her actions. It is a far cry from not associating with someone you don't like. To escalate by using the police as harassment.
Black people, we must be educated on your civil rights. That young lady in the video did not have to show ID nor prove she was a resident there. It is the accuser's burden to prove that the accused has broken the law.
She wasn't afraid of her because she had a conversation with her and she is oppressing another woman by calling the police on her. We can't trust either side.
