Is that nice sweet smooth gentle part of the first verse, and then she lets loose! It was beautifully done, and done in 4/4 time which kind of slows it down a little bit tempo-wise. The star spangle banner is usually done in 3/4 time, a little quicker

It's disrespectful to interrupt the National Anthem. You could say all of that 'after' you listen to her sing the Star Spangled Banner. It would meant just as much then as well.

She did sing it; you can tell because of her bulging neck veins and she's sweating afterwards, but the NFL required a prerecording because they didn't want a singer flubbing the SSB with 100 million people watching. But she is a professional and was used to singing in front of big crowds and she and the the orchestra didn't need to perform to a recording.

@pxlmvr7 Whitney is one of the best female singers ever. But I will not give anyone credit for a performance that wasn't live. And it was revealed it wasn't . Because you and others aren't aware of it .

@@dracula7644 apparently you didn’t read what I wrote carefully enough; I clearly said the NFL required a prerecording at the time. But she did actually forcefully sing over the recording, which is what I was saying. In any case, she did actually sing on the recording so she absolutely gets credit for an outstanding performance just as she would for any of her songs; otherwise you would have to not give her credit for any of her albums, right?
