The term "consciousness" is based on living beings. But atma in Sanskrit is not the same. Atma is the experiencer and witness only. It is present irrespective of any matter. If there is matter, mind is the manager or operator. There is no activity attributed to atma. Understanding the concept is an activity. All activities are for the mind. Atma is a witness (not a doer). All 3 questions are in the domain of "mind." Atma is witness of the mind. The difference of superior, inferior, and subconsciousness can be understood as the level of expression each entity has. Eg. Humans are considered highly expressive, animals are less expressive, and inanimate things have very little expression. I hope this was helpful.

Absolutely!! I agree, I think my your logical brain i can understand what he’s talking about. But to witness the 4th state which is in fact no separate from all other states and to fully experience it could take many lifetimes 😂

The 4th state cannot be witnessed or experienced as it is the witness and the experience itself( just as you cannot see your own eye)- as explained by Swami Sarvapriyananda.

It's called brahma gyan , which means the knowledge of reality.

And the second part Ma comes from the word Man which means Mind. So loosely translated it means Large Mind or Expanded Consciousness. So Brahma Vidya means Art or Knowledge of Expansion of Consciousness

@@spiritualreactions it was like someone (scary person) was passing nearby the backdoor of my house. The gate was open and i closed it and at the same moment that person noticed me and started walking toward me slowly. I tried to lock it but i saw that there was no lock at all and then i panicked i am just holding the gate so that person won't enter. He is also pushing it from his side to enter and i am thinking whether to run or to fight him.. I was asleep but still i knew it was a dream and i forced myself to wake up. I have this habit of creating simulations for every situation be it a task in my work life or any important/difficult conversation and other things. And i like to be prepared for the worst outcomes. According to me my dream signifies that i didn't have the lock on my gate It was my mistake as i didn't check it earlier and fixed it. And i got into such a scary situation because of such a silly mistake..

Wow, I can see why that dream would have been scary. Well, my Mum always told me if you tell someone your dream it's less likely to come back. Like you have got it out of your system. So hopefully now you've told me the dream won't reoccur. But I like the way you found meaning or a lesson within it!

​@@spiritualreactions Okay, I'm not an expert, but I'll try. The sages who live in the Himalayas seek Moksha ie. liberation from the birth and death cycle and becoming one with the 'God' called Brahman. but this Brahman is not the God of the West. Think of it like the Force in star wars and a Jedi disappearing into it is equivalent to attaining Moksha. The more one is closer to Moksha, the more the potency of their Turiya. At Moksha, their Turiya is at maximum and immeasurably high. So only when your Turiya is that high or concentrated can it entangle with the Brahman, and you become enlightened like Buddha or others like him. So the question arises, why do sages pursue renunciation to achieve Moksha and leave behind their wealth, hobbies, and loved ones and live a lonely life in a virtually inhabitable place? The logic is, for us, our Turiya is divided among various things, keeping it from reaching its max potency. For instance, a bit of our consciousness is occupied with our careers, a bit with relationships, a bit with our hobbies, and so on. Suppose one's Turiya "T" is divided among ten such things. That would make their net Turiya = T/10 So if smoking is 1 of the 10 and, they quit smoking and make their net T = T/9 in the process, then net Turiya T/9 > T/10. Similarly, net T/9 < T/8 < < T / 5 At T/5, all that is left of you are your house, clothes, food, breath, and ego/identity. But again, to increase T, you must tame these things too. (It's evident in the Himalayas where some Rishis live naked in the wilderness at subzero temperatures, who don't eat in months and yet live well beyond 100 and take samadhi ie dying at will). Now, if one EVER achieves T/1, it would imply that their entire Turiya concentrated on just themselves, i.e., their ego or identity. At T/1, you will have a perfect understanding of who you are, your existence, your past lives, and whatnot. So now, since you know everything that's there to know about your existence, you're done with yourself and the cycle of birth and death. You want more, you want Moksha. However, as I already stated, your T must be unimaginably high to achieve Moksha, and at T/1, all that is left of you is your ego/identity. So if somehow you relinquish your identity and recognize that you are one with cosmic consciousness or Brahman, your Turiya = T/0, which is undefined or infinite in a way. The T/0 scenario is comparable to the scene in the movie Lucy when Scarlett's brain capacity hits 100% and, the text message appears saying "I am Everywhere" So these ideas were used by the Vedic mathematician Aryabhatt in the 4th century to formulate 0 and its principles in Maths.
