The 4th Doctor dealt with Sutehk. Fun fact, not only is it the original voice actor, but he was also the voice of the devil when the 10th Doctor ran into him. Also, glad to know I'm not the only one who still thinks about the U2 thing sometimes. My music library was CURATED, I didn't need playlists, I could just let it shuffle. And then SUDDENLY there was a whole album that I didn't want to listen to in the mix.

A lot of people have pointed out that Sutekh is a classic Doctor Who villain, but they're also the Egyptian god of death, also called Set or Seth. And yes, he was in Stargate SG-1, which is all that matters.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it to you, but the actress who plays Mrs Flood is married to Brian May, the guitarist from Queen in real life. She's very famous here, and was one of the biggest soap stars in the country when soaps were getting their biggest audiences.

And yes Sutekh was part of the Pantheon of Discord in classic Doctor Who along with the Toymaker.

Sutekh is a classic who villain from Tom Baker and Sarah Jane episode Pyramids of Mars. Its awesome that it is the same actor voicing him in these episodes as back then, he's 91 years old!! Loved this episode, it was so much fun.

Sutekh is an interesting case for a returning Who villian as he wasn't a recurring villian. He was in one story which ended with his death, but he was so memorable. The non-canon audio stories and comics did stories involving him and a number of fans theorized he was The One Who Waits since The Giggle.

Sutekh is a Fourth Doctor Enemy (Classic Who). The Doctor trapped them in the Time Vortex. The same Time Vortex we always see in the Opening Credits.

Kate gave the Doctor that dirty look, because she told Col Chidozie to hold his position, the Doctor overrode her, and Col Chidozie died.

This was such a great episode. Did you notice how the doctor told Ruby that they can regenerate to hide away? I thought that was very weird phrasing. But that’s the exact phrasing that Mrs. flood uses when she walks into the house. She says that she hides way too often. 🧐

"Time keeps on slipping... into the future" is too funny.

I think this version of the doctor is having the same problems internally that they dealt with in “Inside Out”. He wears this external coat of joy, and confidence…But the paint is cracking and more and more he’s being forced to deal with the fact that he is not ok. He is hurt, angry, sad. He’s becoming more and more prone to flying off the handle, and for someone who cares for everyone else, he’s going to need to start caring for himself too.

The Doctor spiked the camera as well, and he may not be awake that Jenny is alive. She died in the episode and didn't regenerate until after he left.

Loved the chills I got on this ep. Sutekh is such an awesome deep cut, but then there's the many nods to the Impossible Planet too (even down to the music choices), and I absolutely adore that two-parter. 🙂

What an incredible episode! This is a master class in how to build suspense perfectly! The music was amazing, the performance from everyone were amazing, the pacing was spot on, the mystery of Ruby Sunday and Susan Twist meshing together was spectacular, the Practical sets and makeup were top-notch, the CGI and VFX are the best Doctor Who has ever had, Ncuti keeps being a top tier doctor, and to be blunt this is the most fun I've had with a season of Doctor Who in a long time! 1000/10 episode!

The 13 year old genius was originally cast as the voice of Eric in space babies but he was so good they gave him a bigger role instead. And the alien with future tech that they will get someday is either a Zuckerberg or an Elon Musk joke.

Sutekh featured in The Pyramids of Mars a story featuring the fourth doctor played by Tom Baker and was from the 13th season back in 1975. It's a fantastic story.

Man, this was the most tense I've ever felt watching Doctor Who 😳 They went to 11 and then kicked it up to 12.

My favourite part of the episode was the naming of the Pantheon of Discord towards the end: we already met the Toymaker and Maestro, but they also mentioned Trickster, who showed up both in the regular series and in the Sarah Jane Adventures, and Mara, the snake-like entity who almost took over the fifth doctor's companion Tegan. And while it's pure speculation, fans have suggested that Rebrobate (the god of spite) refers to the Beast encountered by the tenth doctor (the original devil, to be clear), and a god of secrets could be Akhaten, the scary planet who 11th doc and Clara defeated with a leaf.

With regards the Doctor losing his cool and punching the doors at Triad, we had actually seen the Doctor do something similar before. When Missy gave the Twelfth Doctor coordinates to Gallifrey and there was nothing there, he smashed up the control console in the TARDIS. Also, the awkward dance onto the stage by Susan Triad was a deliberate spoof of the former British Prime Minister (in real life) Theresa May, who once did something similar at a political conference. It was just as cringey!😂

Wasn't expecting the biggest mystery with this episode to be "what is a dinner lady?"

A lot of people wonder why Kate had that reaction, of course they understand the risk of working for UNIT but she had specific orders that nobody moves and the Doctor underminded her order and as such got one of her men unnecessarily killed. You have to remember that the previous scene was her vulnerably telling the Doctor that he brings joy, and now this happens. It makes kate a much more layered character that even if the Doctor is highly respected, UNIT and specifically Kate can and sometime has been at odds with him.

Funny thing, I'm watching another reactor who has recently started the new Doctor Who series. She's on Eccleston s1x8, and the Doctor has an emotional moment with Rose and they hug warmly. And it just makes me wonder about the nitwits getting upset at emotional/huggy Doctor.

Also Mrs Flood directly talked to the camera before, this wasn't the first time. lol 14:04 Short version intro to Sutech: Sutech was someone the 4th doctor faced, (and a couple others in books), who was essentially a member of a race so powerful they were worshiped as gods, and he was so powerful that it had taken 740 others of his race to defeat him after he went on a rampage across the universe, (he could in theory wipe out the entire universe with a single thought), and the best they could do was imprison him. The doctor "defeated" him the first time by tossing him into the time vortex.

Yeah Kate knows the risks, that’s why she told Chidozie to stay put, but the Doctor pushed him to go anyway. She had every right to be angry with him in that moment

Hey Jay, you think eight episodes for a whole season is wild try going back to some Classic Who. Entire stories were told over anywhere from 2 episodes up to as many as 12 episodes. The story "Pyramids of Mars" that introduced Sutekh was four episodes averaging 25 minutes each.

Sutekh is from one story of classic Who called "Pyramids of Mars" (and then a bunch of spin-off media). TL;DR: He's from a race of aliens called Osirans, godlike beings who are the basis for the Egyptian pantheon in-universe. Extremely powerful. The Doctor trapped him in a "time corridor" and thought he'd aged to death. This was a great episode! Now prepare for the next... to be disappointing. The finale has some cool bits, but overall was extremely underwhelming, so... yeah, brace yourselves for that.

I found the first two acts... meh. The pacing was all over the place, and it relied a LOT on 'yell a bunch of random gobbledygook at the camera and then emote something.' Some of my least favorite Doctor Who-isms. That said, I loved the final bit, and I was almost out of my chair with the Sutekh reveal. Tom Baker was the Doctor I grew up with, and Sutekh had an AWESOME character design and vibe in Pyramids of Mars. Although like a lot of older Doctor Who, it was a ... ... sluggish episode. My wife first started watching with Eccleston, and I was so eager to show her the episodes I grew up with, and we watched Pyramids of Mars. About halfway through... I had to turn to her and say 'I'm so sorry.' It had killer mummies, but they were... pretty f'in goofy. They hugged people to death. Slowly.

Why do you guys edit out all the after-the-episode discussion? You usually give about 5-10 minutes of discussion when you’re reacting to a TV show, but not the Doctor Who. Is there a reason?

Nope, nope, nope. This episode was 90% filler. I mean, c’mon, what actually happened? They spent a third of the show in a “time window” which told them nothing. Everybody’s running around the disguise the fact that all of this is just setting up the next episode (which by the way was a HUGE disappointment). I’m so tied of this lazy assed writing. You can’t spend a whole season, even one as short as this one is, setting up this big mystery of who Ruby is and who Ruby’s mother is and why it snows out of nowhere, confounding time lords and gods and just explain it all away with a lame excuse. I think the writers have just run out of decent ideas which is why they’re recycling old villains. It’s time for new writers or I’m outta here with Doctor Who.
