You mentioned Coco and I would like to point out that all the villagers have jiggle physics on their ears BUT Coco. They purposely made it so Coco's ears didn't move, meaning her head is solid.

I believe in the theory that Del was previously a Navy veteran, that was injured in combat and given cybernetic implants. His Japanese name is already "Yamato", after the Battleship Yamato, and his personality already fits almost perfectly. Since he is a cranky villager (an old man), he might have been a WWII veteran in the Imperial Japanese Navy, that was given secret, experimental attachments after being wounded in action. Firefighting is already a skill that sailors learn.

As someone who had Del for a while, I gave him a crop top. His stomach doesn't look out of place for an organic Aligator. My headcanon is that he used to be a sailor, but was injured in an assault on his ship, and had to get some prosthetic replacements. He's modeled after the Battleship Yamato, a Japanese battleship that sunk herself to successfully protect an island. Edit: Also, Biskit is a plush like Stitches, complete with button eyes. And Croque's based off a Ceramic Daruma doll, akin to Coco and her Gyroid/Haniwa resemblance.

Plot twist: Del is an alligator cosplaying a robot

A bit of a note regarding Del: While the other Robotic villagers were all introduced in the original Animal Crossing. However, Bow, Meow, and Del were all introduced in E+. This would explain the newer models, as they were introduced canonically after the Numbered duo, as well as why Dell, the only New Model "active", is a much more cleaner model. As to why they were built, I think that their interests are more on-point than you'd expect. Sproket was likely designed to be a Robot that was effecient at traversing lower gravity areas, specifically the moon. This fits with the frog theming, as most common depictions and footage of people on the moon are seen as if they are "hopping". Sproket was probably designed as a Animatronic Band Member, as a popular mascot choice for most brands were birds (Chuck-E-Cheese is most obvious, but also FNAF OH YEAHHHHH-). As for Meow and Bark, they were probably designed to test out a more advanced AI that allowed them to socialize, but were later brought back and scrapped (rip) due to having their purpose fulfilled. Del is likely the newest model, being build much more "compact" and more sturdy than the previous robot builds. It is likely he was designed to be able to withstand fires and being crushed by falling debree. Him having a substance life choice is likely implemented to make it so if they were incapable to return safely, or are trapped for an extended period of time, they could survive easily. Basically a permanent "low power" mode. Also: Those "vents" on Del are likely a cooling function. Who Made them? Nobody we know. To put it bluntly, they were originally robots built for very specific purposes, with Sproket and Ribbot being the first models. They were likely mass produced, indicated by their numbers, before being decomishioned for unknown reasons. Bark and Meow were designed to test out advanced AIs to make person-robot interaction more easy to do. They then tested transfering this AI to two older Sproket and Ribbot units, each one being the ones we know today. They later implemented the AI into Del, a newer model robot, to attempt to see if it could work on the field. Its likely that this experiment failed in some way, and thus there was only ever one Del Unit produced, being the one we see. Meow and Bark were both scrapped afterwards, as while they were useful, they had served their purpose. They were all likely produced by the same company, but besides that, the only certainty is that they werent made for a haunted Pizzaria. In timeline form: 1. Ribbot and Sprocket Units mass produced 2. Production ceased, all units put into storage/decomisioned. 3. Meow and Bow units sent out to test advanced AI. (Thus why they are newer that the original two, but look more old than Del) 4. A single of each Sproket and Ribbot unit were used to test the AI on older models. 5. Del developed and teated; test failed. 6. Meow and Bow got FNaF2'd.

Tbh new horizons is the first animal crossing game that I own and at first it really looks innocent and fun but watching videos like this makes me look at the game a lot more differently

Anyway, I definitely think that the one who built the robots isn't one of the villagers ingame, the odds that we've actually seen the inventor of these villagers is quite low. But if you're gonna ask this sorta question, then the options you provided are pretty much the best ones.

You ever accidentally predict the next HYEW and not even realise it in a Discord? I bring this up because I accidentally predicted the next HYEW. The wiki says there's only five robots (RIP Bow and Meow) but, have you ever thought of a sixth? An idea that came from my friend simply RPing a character on AC, I believe that WE are also a robot. Breaking down the evidence, you firstly come onto the island not knowing how to show ANY reaction (You can't even sneeze!). That's awfully suspicious how we can't show happiness or sadness to our fellow villagers until taught. Secondly, we don't need to eat. No instead the food we do eat turns us into powerhouses for a brief moment, able to destroy rocks and just carry an entire tree. My theory is this. We're robots, may it be known to the villagers of our islands or not. We were sent there to learn how to fit in with people, and how to be kind to others, which clearly failed for some of y'all. Through this learning, maybe we'll become the ultimate being of compassion? Eh, probably not (Looking at you Red. Wart has had enough nets in his life) but maybe another experiment. How human can we make a robot? Hey, maybe we were made independently from the robotic five. After all, you can see where there is the beep boop parts on Ribbot, but not on the player character.

Each was probably invented by some character we haven't met yet, one that would be more of a special character if introduced. Del - Likely a robot or cyborg created to assist on naval vessels or at ports, they need to stop fires very quickly on those ships, same with the ports, a fire at port can ruin cargo. Sprocket and Ribbot - Both likely made by a separate company than the creator of Del, Sprocket being made with the goal of creating a sort of eCelebrity sort of like having a robot version of Hatsune Miku, Ribbot with the goal of creating a astronaut droid that could walk in space or on the surface of other planets without requiring life support, to assist other astronauts, his ventriloquism is probably just because his mouth doesn't need to move for him to talk, although he opens his mouth slot to allow the sound to travel better. Meow and Bow - Likely invented by the in universe equivalent to Takara, the creators of the Bowlingual and Meowlingual. Coco, Hopkins, and Stitches are likely spirit villages who are bound to objects, Gyroids are canonically based on Haniwa, which were funerary objects buried with the dead, Coco could have died, become a spirit, and bound with her Haniwa. Stitches then being the horror movie trope of a toy being possessed by a spirit. Hopkins shares a lot of similarities with Zipper T. Bunny, same birth date and species along with both having a zipper/inflation port on the back of them, there's a common theory that Zipper is a spirit, much like Jack, so why not Hopkins? Just someone who died, became a spirit, and possessed a balloon.

The villagers in the games could have robotics underneath their fur coat or skin

I have a few weird things about animal crossing too! After my villager Blanche moved out a few days afterwards I saw that a lot of her original furniture was put in the community box and in nook’s cranny. When I say a lot I mean like 8 different things. And there are more than 8 boxes when a villager that is in the move in/out stage. Maybe when villagers move out... they don’t actually leave...

Well, what do you think? Make sure to tell me down BELOW 👀 BUT, there is a few things I have to say about the video that I may have forgotten to mention such as how I could NOT find any clip or video of the number "04" on the back of sprockets head, believe me tho it's THERE. So if you have Sprocket on your island go check it out! I also forgot to mention that Ribbot and Del have very similar "square holes" on the bottom of their head so that could be some kind of correlation between them but I was too late to notice which is why I'm typing this right now. But finally, I also wanted to bring up villagers that have an appearance of food (who could maybe also be living food or nah???) such as Merengue, Chadder and Tangy during the final segment where I bring up the non animal robot villagers but I decided not too since they could just be AESTHETIC purposes??? But who really knows. If anything that is all I can think of for now but regardless hope you enjoyed and remember to give me your own theories and ideas 👀👀👀

Del isn't a robot or a model he's a boat, that's why he dresses up as a sailor. He's one of the living inanimate objects like hopkins and stiches.

Ok Red, here's my theory, ALL the villagers are robots. It may sound a bit far-fetched at first but it would fit with how the game works. First off, it'd explain how there can be duplicate villagers. If you go to someone else's island, they may have a villager that you already have, but they won't even recognize you, so maybe there are many of the same villager, made in some sort of factory. It'd also explain why when a villager leaves your island and you get them back, they don't remember you. Maybe, you got a different unit, so they were on their "factory settings". It would even explain why throughout the games, villagers have gotten less aggressive. Maybe, the manufacturer got too much negative feedback and decided to turn it down a notch. Maybe, the villagers were created to be used by someone to create their own "fantasy world", but wait, isn't that what the AC games are for? 🤔

Theory: Piper made Sprocket. It's not very likely but Piper's villager number is 4. She has also been in every single game Sprocket has been in. Except for pocket camp, in which sprocket was absent. Piper is also peppy, which peppy villagers tend to get along great with jock villagers. Just a thought

I'm surprised you didn't consider the numbers on the back of Ribbot and Sprocket's head to be their Model type, just Sprocket was the 4th type of robot to be built, and Ribbot couldve been the 59th model type. They could be late and early models in an industry of robots with different designs

Bow and Meow actually aren't not in the game because they we're dismantled, instead they're based off of a toy in japan called Meowlingual and Bowlingual that supposedly translated what your pets are saying. And the people who created them didn't want their toy's concept used in animal crossing (pretty sure. all i know is that they we're removed because they we're based on a real toy)

Del looks like an instrument of some sort like a flute or harmonica because the holes on the side of his face represent ones that you put your fingers on when playing a flute or any other similar instrument, I’m not sure why someone would make an animal instrument though.

I believe there was a shortage of villagers and so tom nook took it apon hmself to make new villagers. He hired all of the villagers you mentioned to create new types of villages, such as: robot villagers, coco, stiches ect. Then, the population grew and these villagers became useless, so some of the workers threw away those poor, robot villagers who are now gone. However, the others fought back. Now there are a short amount of non-animal villagers, roaming around many villages! :D
