Hello friends, and welcome to episode 8 of The State Of It Podcast, with your host, Lewis Brackpool.
In this episode, I’d like to welcome my guest, June Slater.
June is a political blogger, campaigner and content creator, who most notably campaigned and volunteered during the Brexit referendum to vote to leave the European Union.
June is also known for creating satirical videos regarding all things politics and culture, and has gained a huge social media presence from creating these videos. In this episode, we discussed what people can do to effect change in their communities and in the world of politics, the concerns of ordinary people outside of the Westminster bubble, and who to trust when the media class and the political realm are, to put it mildly, a den of vipers.

My business was locked down and the result was that I lost my home, my business, my savings and now at 66 I live in a van. Why aren;t we talking about the thousands of people like me who lost everything and did nothing wrong.

I would if he belonged to a party but just look how poerfull the mp's in parliament are, that they can all, from all parties, boycott the debate on excess deaths and the media said nothing. I have come to terms with my situation because nothing will be done, sadly.

Jesus, The brains of Britain. If you want to know why times are hard, look at the Tory austerity Programme because that is why common folk are a lot poorer than in my day. The cause of Austerity was the financial crisis in the States in 2008. Watch the movie "The big short". Write down the terms you cant remember and google them. Then watch the movie again and again and eventually you will grasp, it is the Private sector through the Banking sector which ruined us ordinary folk. Of course the Tories gave the banks money to save them where people are getting a bonus of over £1 million per year. That's not their salary - that's on top of their salary for screwing us

Most people don't want to say snything. I started talking to a bloke in a waiting room about immigration he didn't really say anything.When was leaving he came over and shook my hand.I reckon he was scared to speak.Even my adult kids say muumm don't say that!

I think we rally need to grow some! Sick of being told off by my various members of my family. I can’t bare it … watching my 5:30 country disintegrate day by day. At 77 failing health, frustrated I can’t be along side TR, all I have is FB to let off my steam!

My gas bill is horrendous and I only put on when too cold for my mother in law. I have wood stove and paying for eco coal and kindling daily would rather pay for that than the climate subsidies

Great conversation, Lewis and June! Some very good points raised here. My mum is 85 and she still lives in her own home even after the death of her husband, she has plenty of help from family, friends and neighbours and she will not want to go to a care home or smaller rented property because it would cost her more than what's she's paying now. And she's happy where she is. I respect her decision as I want to be sure that's she's happy where she is, despite health issues she's high in spirit and hope she's going to be around for many years to come. I don't understand why people leave their elders at care homes to be neglected and drained of their finances. It is very cruel and selfish.

Many families are spread too far and are struggling to look after their own family. It's a shame as we used to live near each other to look after each other.

When proper dementia shows it's head it's very difficult to help I found my mum a fantastic care home not about money for me she kissed my hands to thank me.

Someone's experience of lockdown depended on 4 main factors. Age, financial circumstances, health and compliance. None of those affected me, so my experience of LD differs from many people. I was 40 yrs old, healthy, could work from home and i didnt comply at all. In fact my daughter had a 9 yrs bday party and 15 ppl turned up and we hired a bouncing castle.

Well done and congratulations Lewis for recognising and best of all getting June on your podcast has a guest speaker. We really do need more June Slater's speaking out about the real concerns we the people have in this country today. She hit the nail right on the head when calling out our leaders and MP's getting more concerned about what's going on in other parts of the world than looking how to best serve the people of their own country. Thanks for that Lewis. Never seen you before today, so new subscriber. Our family is doing exactly what June recommends and I recommend it, too. Get your family close together in one large property, pool resources and have each others back. We drive each other mental but a big dinner and a chat each night sets us right again.

I agree with June. I think George Galloway and his Workers Party are going to upset the status quo. He will have candidates running against all the major Labour candidates, including Starmer and Rayner, who have lost a big proportion of the Muslim vote.

Surely all companies give you a contract when employed. If that contact DOES NOT state you have to have a vaccine on demand from that company you can take them court over illegal dismissal.
