God, we are told, likes the pleasing aroma of burning flesh. Animal sacrifice is much more common than human sacrifice, but both occur and are “pleasing to the Lord”.

Ok this is sorta mean but it sorta sounds like both in terms of atheism and communism you weren’t really super well informed. Like, your description of communism is just “the ideology about taking from people” which is a fairly simplistic view. It’s one I notice from a lot of people that reckon they were “communist in their youth” (including myself actually) where they have a really surface level idea about the ideology and so unsurprisingly lose it really easily because you can’t defend the viewpoints of an ideology you don’t really understand. Similarly your atheism of your youth just sort of sounds like your average person that was raised secular and took it as the default and never really examined it. Similar to how a lot of Christian’s are just sort of Christian by default without much internal examination of the beliefs. Both of those groups are much more likely than others to end up converting because they didn’t really have any strong ties to what they believed in in the first place.
Relatable Lewis. I did go to a church of England primary school, so had some grounding there. But family was not practicing and essentially atheist. As a teen, I was fairly anti-theist. And had a brief flirtation with Marxism in late teens. Read a bit of Nietzsche, Engels, Trotsky etc. I studied history at uni and was interested in medieval history, which includes a lot of church history therefore. This melted the more aggressive New Atheism I had. But I was still functionally agnostic at best. Probably the whole trans issue arising in the mid 2010s began to push me to a more Conservative political leaning. And Jordan Peterson's lectures (circa 2016-2018) allowed me to take a second look at the bible. Also a little of the classical theist argument for God. So then I was agnostic or deist at best, I think. I didn't think it reasonably possible to go beyond this. Yet, I had a sudden impulse towards faith in the past 2 years. Some of this involved letting go of my skeptic mindset. Tbh I've struggled between faith and agnostic deism since, but I can't say I'd ever go back to a full atheist materialist view

Go right back to your former lefties , do NOT get trapped in a church unless they see your importance. We are the best assets for a dying church. Good on you sir. I went from a secular upbringing to becoming a Christian at 19 to beciming apostate at 22. Learning that in reality there is nothing there and God will not comfort you when the poo hits the fan taught me that I was fooling myself.
Christianity demands intellectual effort, that's why I don't like pentecostalism because it makes you a weak and an emotional Christian,I am Catholic anyways. I wish you God's favor on your journey
I was an atheist and communist in the late 80s. Christ saved me in 1991. Communism is a Christian heresy and idolises the state in place of God. Biblical Christianity puts the state in its proper place - under the Lordship of Jesus, king of kings.
Don't indiscriminately confuse atheism and communism, and especially don't confuse communism and socialism, because communism is the absolutist extremist form and socialism the moderate balanced rational practical realistic form. There is actually a great deal of similarity between the teachings of Jesus regarding economic selfishness greed oppression inequality and injustice and socialist communist economic philosophy, in fact this is why I am a Christian socialist although definitely not a Marxist one. Indeed the one economic ideology which is completely incompatible with Jesus Christ teachings on theology or morality is the lust gluttonous desire and covetous love of money which is the root cause for the sinful corruption and systemic evils of the idolization of money, wealth and especially excessive accumulations and concentrations of private property. A Christian has their hearts desire and treasure in the heavenly spiritual kingdom of God and NEVER in the corruption of the earthly kingdoms and material things. This does NOT mean Christians are to be ascetics who make austerity and suffering a virtue, we are to enjoy the good blessings of the creation and earth, but always in the context of healthy moderation and sober minded temperance and good stewardship principles and sound management practices that put the glory of God and blessings of others equal to or ahead of our own gain and self interest. Nor are we to be removed from engagement with the world and to be apolitical far from it. God's redemptive plan and purposes are profoundly transformational and revolutionary(although it follows a course and pattern of growth that is authentic and unforced which is analogous and parallel to the process of phased organic biological unfolding and development), in fact it is because of the failure of the contemporary church to faithfully carry out God's revolutionary agenda and mandate that visionary leadership has passed from people of godly faith to people who are of secular orientation and motivation. This bizarre ironic reversal of the first becoming last and the sons of this age(unbelievers and unsaved sinners) being wiser in their generation than the sons of light(God's people)was prophetically predicted by the Lord to be part of the signs of the end of days, and the final generation. Once again just as Jesus warned against there are many deceived in this end times and are blind followers of the blind leadership and many who have forsaken the true way of God and departed to the extreme left or right to do their own will and follow their own ways. (And yes this false church of tares mixed in with wheat is under God's judgment of wrath and condemnation for its leavening corruption of the gospel with man made and demonically inspired lies and errors, apostasy betrayal and treason against God and Jesus Christ)It is well and good that we remind ourselves that the way of man is not in himself, it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps(without God's correction and guidance man will inevitably fail to see his own faults, and will not turn from his destructive course) and the heart of man is desperately wicked who can know it?(referencing the distorting implicit biases hidden in the unconscious) And that there is a way that seems right unto a man the end thereof is death. Which means that mans ways are grossly unequal and unbalanced and in opposition to the perfect balancing and centering between the godly male and female attributes and qualities that represents the unbroken wholeness and unity of the tree of life before sin and the corruption of the fall.

I am a born again Christian, to be frank I didnt know who God is nor even thought he was real when I was a buddhist. Saw the gospel in a comic and repeated those words in my lowest moment, God indeed showed up and saved me on the spot. 5 years ago, got tricked for 4 years by an influencer false teacher and been following Jesus for nearly 2 years. keep up the preaching, God bless
Not going to lie. Hearing you coming to this in your twenties and you being disappointed about it, makes me smile. As I mentioned in another comment. I spent over 40 years of my life Godless and knowing I was right. Worshiping myself in the mirror. After 2 months of following Jesus, I'm so happy you did not waste all of the years that I did, and cause all of the harm I did. Praise be to God.

Hey Lewis, RU-vid recommended your video and I just want to say thank you for sharing your personal testimony. I only got to know the gospel in my mid 40s! Also, I’m just a little pedantic about how you said it.. and please please don’t take me as some verse nazi.. but … I just wanted to share a short context of what John 14:6, and why it must be taken as such, as in the way, the truth and the life, All ties back to the tabernacle. God designed the tabernacle to represent “the way” (the front part were the Jews entered), “the truth” (the sacrifice) and “the life” ( where the holy of holies is, and only 1 holy priest can enter). So when Jesus declared this, the Jews were incensed to hear this and their anger and jealousy led towards Jesus’ ultimate act of love for all of humanity. I hope you’ll understand that there is an element of importance in the structure of that verse.. and not to mix it around. I sincerely hope you’ll understand. The understanding of the Jewish historical context will help deepen our study of God’s word. Shalom. To God be the glory.

They did have state atheism but most still believed in a religion and it was never outlawed. I think that persecuting of religious was a mistake under some socialist governments, most Marxist I speck to today understand freedom of religion as crucial to communism.

With all due respect to your friend, the book he gave you, which you have yet to read, "Conversations with God" by Neal Donald Walsh is *not a Christian book* . It is New Age through and through. The author supposedly "channeled" all of this from "God". He literally claims that he is transmitting messages directly from God and they are utterly un-Christian. I destroyed the book along with all my other New Age and occult books when i found that Christ was the Truth. I beg you, do not read that book. It is deception. And i worry for your friend. As a Christian, all I can really say is welcome aboard the freedom train. It feels good to embrace reality, and the reality of our falling short of God's law and our need of rescue through Jesus Christ is the bedrock of reality that all human beings need to recognize. Bloom where you're planted and keep growing as a Christian and making a difference. I would encourage you to listen to solid people on-line like Dr. William Lane Craig (of Reasonable Faith), Sean McDowell (of More Than A Carpenter), and Greg Koukl (of Stand To Reason). These are solid Christian scholars and presenters who can really help point you in good directions to grow in your knowledge of the Christian faith and skill at communicating the truth to other people. God is the one that accomplishes salvation through His Holy Spirit, and no one can really say much about the ineffable quality of having your heart & mind opened by God. The experience of finally bending your knee to the Creator and understanding what He sacrificed to bring you back into a relationship with Him is really incredible. Good to have another brother in Christ in this world!

I was an atheist once and then realized I was just uneducated..I had an elderly gentleman show up in my life when I was in my thirties..we began with a conversation about sperm whales and I spent the next 3 years studying the history of the Bible and the different religions in the world mostly to debunk his beliefs..I ended up having some of my own light bulb moments and debunked my own atheist beliefs 😜 I mentioned to a friend of mine how I met this elderly gentleman (in his late eighties) and how amazingly intellectual he was..my friend smiled and said to me something like “When a student is ready to learn ..a teacher will arrive “ I was saddened when he passed and felt honored that he took the time to converse with me (every Wednesday night) Peace to you ! ✌️
I so get the tears. After I was born again I often found myself crying but not knowing why. The Holy Spirit manifesting in the heart of humans is a healing experience.

Yes they claim to exist, but are they though? Marxism has roots in the cult religions gnosticism and hermeticism, and they just don't believe in the biblical God. Heck, Marx wrote some decidedly Satanic plays, and his favorite quote is from Goethes "Faust": "Everything that exists deserves to perish". And Communism really considers man his own God, or at least that the fragment of divinity in man is what will bring about the perfect, utopian endpoint where paradise in Earth arises. If there is a state involved, it's not communism. There have been many authoritarian so-called "communist" parties, but don't confuse their facism with actual communism. Communism has been defamed by misinformation and propaganda on many fronts. Under capitalism, labor is exploited to enrich those who did not do that work. It is inherently unjust. Capitalism only cares about profit, human needs and wellbeing are an after thought to it.

Believe in the most high, but as far as jesus being the gatekeeper to heaven......sorry have far too many question's about the character. The fact repentance is essentially a freepass for the worst of the worst to enter the most highs house by acknowledging christ leaves no room for cheques and balances. I cant believe a genius creator would make entrance to his kingdom so easy. Even looking into things such as gematria, numerology, symbolism shows links to jesus, muhammad and lucifer......
