Latest firmware has like 1/10th of the phantom braking. At least I’ve noticed.

Holy cow you have to subscribe to blue cruise? I test drove Mach E blue cruise recently and it was awful, only working 30% of the time, especially the area by the dealer in a popular area. Would never buy a Mach E or blue cruise.

Other than Ford screwing over early adopters with blue cruise pricing, they certainly lost me as a customer. Had a dealer who wanted to price gouge me after my deposit. I refused to budge and went with a Model 5 for what was advertised. And this is coming from someone who driven Fords for almost 25 years.

I purchased a 2020 used model 3 and the previous owner had paid for FSD. To my surprise, the price of the vehicle was around the same price as vehicles without it. When I checked the trade-in value, you are correct when you say you don't really get much more for trade with FSD. So you are also right when you say if Tesla doesn't really value their own software, why should we purchase it for so many thousands of dollars? Mine already had it but if it didn't I never would have purchased it either. FSD still needs a lot of work and makes many mistakes but I do enjoy autopilot much more. Nice video this was. Many good points.

Bloatware. Lines of code duplicates all over the place. Instead of reusing a particular line of code for a certain type of defined function you just write that code all over again when needing it. This done enough will make a system crawl.

I respect your scientific method. Like you said I gone from regular AP to enhanced AP to fsd 11.4.4. Fsd is a huge improvement over the basic in phantom braking etc. 15k is a lot for fsd but I would buy a used Tesla for cheap and add fsd to it. Life without fsd sucks imo.

I haven't laughed so hard as when I saw you sitting in the gaming chair at the side of the road! You made my day. Also, I've had my Tesla Y/LR for 3 months, and only today noticed that it edged slightly to the left side of the lane while passing a truck. I wasn't sure if I was just imagining it! Thanks for the confirmation it actually does that.

The difference in price is due to the Mustang being much better constructed and doesn't rely on the new owner to take on the function of QC. I just rented both a 3 and Y and came back to my Mach-E GT Performance with a whole new appreciation for it's quality. I also have a Jaguar I-Pace and it's incredibly nice.

I rented a 2022 Model 3 Performance off Turo last year that still had USS. I took it on a 200 mile + trip, my first time using AP and I experienced a lot of phantom braking. It was my first time ever using it, it certainly scared the heck out of me.

Great test! I'd recommend you test these systems (also Cadillac's SuperCruise and others that seems decent) in more conditions. Can we get tests during the day and night, dry and in the rain, with light and heavy traffic, in areas with roadwork, curvy roads (where BlueCruise used to fail), and so on? I think people would be interested to see how capable these systems are in all kinds of conditions in total, not just on a sunny day on a road with little traffic. I haven't see any RU-vid creators testing self-driving systems in a systematic way like this yet! keep up the great content!

Tip on the Mach-E - you only need to tap the turn signal, not do a full depress. The car will merge and no need to deactivate the turn signal.

I’ve driven a total of 45k miles in 2 Teslas since 2019 and prob around 4-5k autopilot miles. I have only experienced phantom braking on the NJ GSP North at I believe exit 54 when approaching an overpass. The braking now is a lot less strong than it was in 2019 for sure but was still happening .. at least it was 6 months ago when I last drove thru there.

I go to that EA station once a week. Haven’t had an issue. Tap to pay is having trouble there so you just need to initiate from the app once you plug in.
