This actually made me think back to when my dad was on his last legs. He was in pain but kept his spirits up as long as we made sure he had a cup of tea in his hands so when she said no I was actually overwhelmed with rage like she had taken a swing at my old man
At this point it's pretty obvious Mrs. Flood living next door to Ruby is not a coincidence. Whether she is protecting Ruby from someone or keeping surveillance of her from someone is up for debate.

Tho the music & atmosphere shift definitely did make the whole thing suspect.
@@_TinyTitanhere's the thing about her and Mrs. Flood, we as an audience know that her asking for tea repeatedly and never getting it is a running gag with her appearances, so since Mrs. Flood can break the 4th wall by looking at it and speaking with it, then her comment to Cherry about the tea would mean that she knows it is a running gag as well, and that she knew she wasn't going to be the one to give her one at that moment, both because there were more important things happening elsewhere (and she knew what), and because she knew in a meta sense, the joke was not going to be paid off until another time, probably by someone else, so she refuses. Anyway, I'm curious to see what happens with this two next episode!
I think she’s Susan. When the Doctor is talking about Susan and why he’s never gone to find his granddaughter, he tells Ruby that he can change his face. When she asks why, one of the reasons is that sometimes they just need to hide themselves away. Mrs. Flood says a very short time later that she often keeps herself hidden away. And it was right at that moment that I realized this must be the reason they never refer to her by her first name. She could be another character, but I think echoing that line about being hidden away is clearly setting up the later reveal.
Agree. Also, they've now delved pretty deeply into the Doctor's relationship (or lack of) with his family, and how much it has affected him emotionally. They can't just leave that hanging out there.
I think this character may be Riversong. Ruby has a song deep in her soul, plus flood is an association of water.. It could be her but I wouldn't say it's a definite..
Susan wouldn't act so creepy towards Cherry, nor would the overall creepy vibe of that part of the scene fit with Susan. Also, the clear connection between her name being *Flood* and her talking about a *storm* coming doesn't fit with Susan.
Susan Flood saying "I've been hiding away" or whatever right around when the doctor said how time lords can hide themselves away felt intentional to me... also flood/storm and the weather out the window in that scene felt like a clue. I think Ruby's mum is about to come home to quite a surprise in the next episode

If the rain that appeared was actually caused by Mrs. Flood (I don’t remember Sutekh ever being associated with rain before), then we have 3 characters all associated with types of storms: Ruby (snowstorm), Mrs. Flood (rainstorm), and Sutekh (sandstorm). In mythology, Sutekh’s wife Nephthys is associated with, among other things; death, the sky, childbirth, darkness, and mourning, _but_ notably isn’t as villainous as Sutekh, and is actually quite altruistic. There’s also multiple stories about her hiding either _a child_ or _herself_ away…
Ooh! There's a notion! Ruby is the daughter of Sutekh and Nephthys. She's a minor god in her own right (which explains the snow) and has the power to defeat her father. We already know she's more formidable than she believes from the way she took down Roger ap Gwilliam. If Nephthys was the mother who put Ruby on the church steps it makes sense that UNIT's technology will be unable to see her face, even with TARDIS power behind it. And Nephthys gave Ruby up in order to hide her from her father, so Ruby would have time to grow into her own power before confronting him.
The thing that gives me pause about this is that we know the Mrs Flood mystery is supposed to be a slow burn according to RTD, and we know that she's in season 2 at least, and it would be strange for her to persist as a plot thread like that past this finale if she was wrapped up with Sutekh as Nephthys would be.

@@rossjones1530 Maybe, although I think if that were the case you could do the same without it being Nephthys. Nephthys would feel very tied to Sutekh, whereas another entity guiding against those sorts of threats as a whole would be separate.
I think that Mrs Flood is Jenny the Doctor’s daughter who has taken the last name of flood in honour of her father’s wife River Song and has been guarding Ruby and her family since Ruby was fostered/ adopted by Carla. I think that maybe she dropped Ruby off at the church and had to as she had been seen by the doctor as doing so and it was now a fixed point. I don’t know if she is related to Ruby but I think that Ruby will somehow be the key to defeating Suketeh. I think that because she was created by a machine the doctor isn’t able to detect her like he can other Time Lords and that she’ll have a vortex manipulator or something similar.

I'm calling it right now. Ruby is the first incarnation of Susan. Her mother is Mrs Flood, who is therefore the Doctor's daughter. They established in this episode that the Doctor doesn't know who Susan's parents are, saying it's something he'll find out in the future. And coincidentally, we also don't know who Ruby's parents are. So what if Ruby and Susan are the same person, just different incarnations. Ruby would have to be the first, since we've seen her as a baby, and Susan a future one. Timey-wimey. This would also mean Ruby would have to be memory wiped at some point before regenerating into Susan, since she obviously doesn't remember her life as Ruby. Just like how the Doctor had his memory wiped of previous lives. How or why this would happen to Ruby, I'm not sure.

RTD has teased that there's a secret actor in EoD. Chekhov's Susan and Ford's own coyness (as well as attendance at the premiere) would point to Carole Ann. I think in the Memory TARDIS we know is in the episode. But we can only hope.
Ok serious question. Why in an episode of such obvious and overt references to all her previous roles do you think this was such a secretive nod? It makes no sense to have 18/19 references be obvious then have the final 1 be hidden but also such a benign reference?

My guess is Susan's tech isn't what mattered she said she wanted to give a gift to the world. It turns out it's not the gift she believed it was it was really the gift of death as sutekh calls it
Isis Isis was the Egyptian goddess believed to be responsible for the annual FLOOD of the river Nile. She is also the “Mother” (creator) of Horus. Horus was the primary rival of Sutekh (aka Set).
Mrs Flood is wearing the exact same clothes as Clara in Twice Upon a time, her house could be the diner tardis and that’s why she knows what a tardis is. Far fetched theory, but makes total sense.
I think what’s been missed is that rtd is going to develop the Susan storyline, the dr says he hasn’t met Susan’s parents yet….but the first dr ran away with her?…..feels like rtd has a plan…
I won’t be surprised if the last shot of either Empire of Death or Joy to the World is Mrs. Flood’s house dematerialising. Russell did hint at a significance behind the door, and it is distinctly TARDIS blue.
Here's a quite unlikely theory. In expanded media, Sutekh had a sister called Isis, who's form inspired the Ancient Egyptian godess of the same name. In Egyptain mythology, Isis is the bringer of life, the protector of nature, whose premise is basically the opposite of Sutekh's deathly powers. More importantly, it was said that Isis's crying over Sutekh's crime (of murdering Osiris, but this bit probably doesn't matter) caused the flood of the Nile, which was seen by the Egyptians as a power for creating life. I cannot claim that Mrs Flood is Isis, but it does make sense if she is also an Egyptian Deity, perhaps of equal power to Sutekh, who was part of his defeat and imprisonment prior to the Pyramids of Mars, and would be crucial in his defeat in this finale. After all, the flood of the Nile was of great importance in Egypatian system of worship. I shall back off and say this probably is just a theory, because RTD claimed Mrs Flood is a slow burn mystery which is unlikly to be unveiled so soon in the next episode. But who knows, maybe "the one woman to save it all" in the plot synopsis is related to her.

Im really sorry to pop the bubble here idc if you choose to hate or express whatever after i ttype this at anytime.the Egyptian God Seth who was Osiris Brother is who Killed Osiris.he chopped his body up into 13 pieces scattering them across egypt throwing the phalus into the Nile the great crocodile God Sobek ate it. Isis in panic created a false phalus an then performs first rituakistic magic its necromancy and she brings Osiris Back an is a success they join in union an she becomes pregnant with Horus. At the Age of 19 Horus confronts his Uncle and castrates him.avenging his Father and also destroying the legacy of Seth and all who would be his offspring. Now if you are going to say that Sutek is Seth.. so very very wrong. The weird face thing in the time corridor i see looks like Seth bit was supposed to be Anubis like the head of a Jackal as seen in The Legend of Ruby Sunday when the Tardis is revealed to have that Jackal headed Sutek wrapped around the Tardis albeit it cloaked and hidden. Anubis Lord of Judgement is able to go invisible or possess people to locate testimony should the scales of Maat fail to balance the Heart. (Depicted rather well in Marvels Moon Knight)
I feel that one line she says to Ruby's Adoptive mother, "It's nice to get out, I'm always hiding myself away." I feel it is not just some line she says, i feel there is a meaning behind it.
She dropped a big hint when she talked about her mother. She said she nursed her when she had surgery, but she died of an ulcer when she wasn't looking. The answer has to do with her mother.
I do not think Mrs Flood is evil. But her name kept bugging me from the start of the season. I may just be cracked, but When I heard her last name, my thoughts went immediately to The Flood. It ruminated until the show last night. The Flood were discovered on Mars.....Pyramids of Mars....Sutekh. Whether or not RTD left a breadcrumb trail with that or not is beyond me. Probably not. However, it is fun to theorize!
Mrs Flood reminds me of Mrs Figg in the Harry Potter stories. She’s the one who tells Harry not to put away his wand after the dementor attack in the subway. Maybe Mrs Flood is from Unit (or some other organisation) and was there to keep an eye on Ruby and her family.
She’s not Susan. Susan will be played by Carol Ann Ford. They aren’t going to replace a living legend from the shows history. We know she is available and was at the 60th Anniversary premiere. We are going to see Susan at the end of the finale or during the next Christmas episode. I think Mrs. Flood is most likely a god or god-like being who will turn out to be Ruby’s mom. It would explain why Ruby has special powers (like making it snow). I do also like the idea that she could be the subconscious of the Doctor’s Tardis. I don’t think we are getting these answers next week though. I think the mystery around Ruby’s mom and history will carry on into season 2. That is going to need more time and the Doctor will be busy with Sutekh next week.
I hope we do get to see Susan after this build up but I completely agree it should be Carole Ann Ford. It would be great to see her pop up, even just for a cameo in next week's episode.

@@JayJamsSpams I think in terms of one of the mystery characters being her yes, but I think when this crisis is over he is going to decide to find her otherwise it doesn’t make sense to invest that heavily in the discussion of her only as a signpost. They kind of have to pay that off now that they have gone to it this many times.
We know there's a secret actor in EoD who apparently gives a "phenomenal performance", and I would not be surprised if this were Carole Ann Ford. We also know the Memory TARDIS will appear. So my guess is that the Doctor will meet Susan in the Memory TARDIS (like others appeared in TotT) in his darkest hour, as he was thinking about her so much in LoRS. Maybe it'll even encourage him to seek her out for real?
For a brief moment I convinced myself she was actually Romana. Especially when she said the line about being good to get out instead of hiding away. But then she went a bit dark. The TARDIS theory cold be interesting and does tie into a theory I have that 14 will become The Valeyard, and the bi-generation being the way to bring him in. What if the 'magic' from the hammer used to create a second TARDIS is how Sutekh attached himself to it? But I'm addition to that split the light & the dark from within the TARDIS too? We already know that the bi-generation was like being ripped in half, and that a lot of the darker aspects of The Doctor stayed with 14. Visually 15 ended up wearing white clothes, 14 was left in the darker clothes... It all feels very purposeful now.
Mrs Flood changed partway through Church on Ruby Road. Her earlier appearances have her upset about the police box on the sidewalk and blaming her neighbour, saying he never liked her. Then she expresses shock at the disappearance of the TARDIS right before her eyes. But later, she's amused by it all, friendlier with the neighbour, and knows what the police box really is. I always felt like something happened to her in between that we didn't know about. ... Good point about the clothing! At different times of the year too.
her not knowing the tardis until hearing it and also saying the same line about hiding away that the doctor says about timelords hints that she’s a time lord but doesn’t know the doctor
Definitely seemed deliberate. Also, RTD has said before to pay attention to the doors on Ruby's street. As some others noticed, Mrs Flood's door is the same shade of blue as the TARDIS... I don't think we'll learn who she is this season, but (as someone else commented here) we may get a shot of her dematerialising or something.
I have to agree. Mrs. Flood is a good guy. I've thought this from the beginning and I'm sticking to it. Her "bedside manner" in this episode was indeed cold, but I think it was one of those fakeout moments to try to make people think she's evil. I think she'll ultimately be the key to solving all this. She might even be Ruby's mother, but I'm less convinced on that one. We shall see!
I agree with the "fakeout" theory. I don't think she was purposefully withholding Cherry a cup of tea, but right as Cherry asked is when the storm came in, and she knew Sutekh was returning. I think that was probably more important than a cup of tea.
Here’s another theory . Sutekh attached to the tardis on the impossible planet . Tardis landed with a noise then fell down to the centre of the planet where sutekh attached. The tardis fought it off and controlled it until the doctor split the tardis In addition if you watched pyramids of mars you’ll see the doctor took Sarah Jane to 1980 to see the damage sutekh did. He also did this with ruby in the devils chord : surprised no one picked this up
Plenty of people picked up on the call back to pyramids of mars, it’s half the reason people have been saying sutekh is coming back since the season started
I'm becoming more convinced of that too, in fact if you look closely at the writing on the ship in Wild Blue Yonder, it's quite similar to the writing seen in The Impossible Planet (it was also the first time the TARDIS groaned, although it was at the beginning of the episode). The captain in Wild Blue Yonder also looked like an Egyptian style statue (a horse), which is what an Osiran looks like, which is the same species as Sutketh. I'm thinking that Sutketh either attached himself to the TARDIS at the end of the Pyramid of Mars (Sutketh possessed the Doctor to take the TARDIS to Mars), or in The Impossible Planet, possibly possessing the Beast (and that other human character) in an attempt to escape and/or to get rid of the Doctor.
dont forget the 9th and 12th doctors also broke the 4th wall in their series. capaldi gave us a whole lecture about being Beethoven talking directly to us
Now we know, i think, why the Tardis was "hitting" the walls of the time vortex in every episodes opening titles screen. It was because it wanted to get rid of Sutekh, the god of death. Sutekh grabbed on to Tardis and the Tardis was trying to get rid of him, but the Doctor didn't notice any of this because of many reasons of which i believe it was the chameleon camouflage or whatever. Remember that we saw something similar in one of the David Tennant's era Doctor Who episodes where Captain Jack Harkness (who was made a "god" by Rose Tyler) grabbed onto the Tardis and flew to the end of time. What i am trying to say is that the Tardis tried to get rid of Jack too, but couldn't. Of course this time we have to do with the god of death, unlike Jack who was and still is a good hearted man. :) And by the way, why isn't this man here helping? o.O He IS supposed to have been an unkillable man for god knows how many eons. We know he turns from human form to that head creature called " The face of Bo ". :) Someone please tell BBC or whoever to bring this man back, earth needs him...WE need him. :) I would LOOOOOOVE to see Sutekh trying to kill Jack. XD Remember that it was Jack that was locked in a room full of radiation and didn't feel a god damn thing. Got shot and just wiped it out like it was nothing.
@@BritishTrainspotting Did the actor really behave badly/ wrongly on-set or was it all an act? 🤔 Maybe the actors were told to act this way so they could use Jack (the character) at a later episode, meaning right now, as a super secret reveal. :) The way i am thinking about it, Jack's actor was meta-acting, meaning acting on a different level, breaking the 4th (maybe 5th) wall of acting. We only need to wait and see how thing will play out.
When Mrs. Flood refused to get Cherry some tea and said something like we can't always get what we want, she sounded kind of bad/evil. Cherry is at her mercy, since she is bedridden, and looked upset. Did anyone else hear some Scottish accent when Mrs. Flood spoke?
Could Mrs Flood possibly be an older Liz Shaw? In the Church on Ruby Road she says "Police box. I haven't seen one on the streets of London for 50 years...". That would date back to the early 1970's when Liz Shaw (Caroline John) starred opposite Jon Pertwee. Sadly Caroline John died in 2012, but both she and Anita Dobson are quite thin in the face. If she is then Unit may have lost sight of her over the years, much like they did with most of the companions until Graham brought some together post the Flux.
Liz doesn't know the Tardis properly unless there are Big Finish stories, there is a UNIT dating controversy meaning that the stories could be set c1980, and police boxes have been obsolete for 50+ years now. Dodo has a more thinner face than Liz.
I can't recall if Liz Grant has ever been inside the TARDIS but she knows what it is and what it looks like. She would have only recognised it as an old police box when she first saw it (if she is Mrs Flood) but the moment it dematerialised she would have recognised it as THE TARDIS and not just a police box.
I like the idea of Mrs. Flood being some sort of messenger of other manifestation of a good god. If that's the case, then the woman that's going to save the day, mentioned in the Empire of Death synopsis, must be Carla Sunday, because Flood is allowing her to be at UNIT because otherwise she'd be taking care of Cherry. I was prepared to argue that I didn't think she's the Doctor's granddaughter Susan, because certainly the Doctor has already met Flood and would have rejected the idea of Susan Triad being his granddaughter. But Flood does seem to have a cheeky, eye-winking sense of humor, so it seems just like her personality to wait on revealing her true nature to the Doctor until her purpose is satisfied. But still, so many questions remain. My biggest, shared with @martinfoote8224 below, is: We know Triad was about to reveal something to the United Nations about Triad Technology's hand in some sort of new invention, but what was it to be?

Earlier in the episode while explaining regeneration the Doctor says “It can save us if we're dying... or sometimes we can hide ourselves away...” Later in the episode Ms. Flood says “Anything I can do to help. It's nice for me to get out. I'm always hiding myself away.” Susan or the Rani. 100%.
Mrs. Flood is (at lest right now) playing the role of the Greek Chorus. She’s explaining/emphasizing key plot elements in the story. Although typically the GC didn’t do fourth wall breaks, I think with a lot of new viewers it’s a way to bring along people who are new to Doctor Who who aren’t Whovians, and to even include Whovians who aren’t part of the OG fanbase.
She said she likes to hide herself away; within five minutes of the Doctor discussing the hiding nature of timelords AND Susan. I could be wrong but watch me not be.
Its always bothered me that the Doctor never visited susan since i got access to the older series in the early 2000s. I really hope that with all the references to The Doctor's Granddaughter we finally get reunion.
Just dropping a comment to say I’m glad there’s DW creators like you out there who always keep it positive and light. I hate how there’s so much negativity out there when it comes to this show, despite how amazing this season has been.
I wonder if you have any theories about the gods Sutekh mentioned? He lists the Toymaker, Trickster (god of traps, so possibly connected to Susan Twist being a trap?), Maestro, Reprobate (god of spite, which makes me think of Mrs. Flood saying “we’d all like a lot of things that aren’t going to happen”), Mara (god of beasts, could be the ‘boss’ the Meep referred to), Incensor (god of disaster, maybe the war in Boom?). Some of that might be a stretch but I do feel like the Trickster will become relevant. Not sure if that’s connected to Ruby’s mother dressed similarly and not having a face, but the trap situation is certainly there.
I think, the doctor Stop and banned or destroy Sutekh next Episode and in the next Season we will See the Trickster and another of the god's to come back in the universe to destroy the doctor and Bring Chaos in the Order. My question: ,,Who are the FATHER and Mother, which Harbinger called in the Return of Sutekh. Is there a greater god Like them? I think it's Just the begin of the Return of the god's.
Rewatched the Legend of Ruby Sunday and noticed something about the time lines. Mrs Flood enters the flat and the radio flickers 15:08 (minute 11:22). It then mentions that a storm is coming and she breaks the forth wall. At minute mark 15:12 they say that Susan is on live in 65 minutes, at 15:00 UK time. Then 30 seconds later, Ruby arrives back with the VHS. 15 mins later in episode, it’s still not 15:00 at minute mark 31:37. Mel says that Susan is on at 1500. All the things in the flat happen an hour out of sync with the rest of the episode, and occur after Sutek has revealed himself, breaking the fourth wall about eight minutes after Sutek. The radio flickers when Mrs Flood enters. So either she’s in a different time line, or she had to be related to time so,e how. Or the Flat itself is on a time rift. She has to be someone who has a perception filter that changes time, or is out of time herself. Hoping she’s the Rani.
This is something no-one else seems to have noticed, yet it's obviously meant as a big clue. DAB radio so it is not just set wrong. RTD knows all about Checkov's Gun.
I feel like mrs flood is a guardian of some kind. Say for example, we follow the idea of ruby being a creation of the trickster, mrs flood is one of the trickster brigade and has been planted next door to ruby to ensure everything goes to plan. She finds the doctor, she travels with him, etc. so that whatever the tricksters plan is with ruby can unfold. This would explain how she knows about sutekh and why she seems perhaps intimidated by him coming back. She can’t necessarily do anything to stop him interfering but maybe in the empire of death, she will have some form of involvement nudging ruby in the right direction to help resolve things so that she can continue to live on her life with the doctor and be used to enact the plan in the future
@umbai8962 the Trickster being named as the god of traps, after so many mentions of a trap in the same episode, AND Susan Triad reacting visibly to his name (and not the other gods), was certainly interesting.
I think the breaking of the fourth wall is something to do with people who briefly realise they are in a story, maybe there'll be a God of Tales next year. Another mystery added in TLORS ...Morris and Kate say they're on top of all geniuses with alien technology.... except one, Morris says "we'll get him"
This may be a bit too crazy of a theory but what if Mrs Carol Flood is evil, then could she be a kind of like a Valeyard figure of River Song / Melody Pond? Floods are known for total destruction. However, if she turns out to be good, then could she be a new iteration of River Song, or at least a relation? Has she secretly been a guard for Ruby until she started travelling with the doctor. Towards the end of Church on Ruby Road, Mrs Flood even says “Good luck Ruby” as if she knows what’s in store for Ruby. I’m not sure if Mrs Flood’s related to Ruby, or if she was sent to keep an eye on her from some higher ups. Her memories could have been erased, but a trigger, such as the de-materialisation of the tardis, would restore her memories. That’s now giving me sleeper agent vibes. But for what purpose?

But I'm sure I used one some time in the past, or was it the future? Just wondering how the doctor might finally defeat Sutehk. Who knows, but could he use a lateral molecular rectifier to restore the damage done by him? That would be a great link to the past.
In the Pyramids of Mars, the key to Sutekh's prison was on Mars, in a Pyramid, hence the title. David Tennant visited Mars in the Waters of Mars where he encountered an entity called the Flood. Is this really just a coincidence?
She's for sure a time lord! At the beginning of the episode the doctor mentioned time lords can change their face to hide themselves away and in the next scene when they get miss flood she says it's good to get out because she's always hiding herself away.
The biggest thing that took my attention in this episode was the line about how the Tardis in the Time window almost looks real. Then the quote. “If memory is time. Then what is the memory of a Time Machine” Makes me wonder if the Tardis in the time window was the physical form of the Memory Tardis. Would explain why the doctor told Ruby to go to the time window.
Maybe she's Captain Jack in disguise and Rose Tyler is Ruby's Mother and RIVER SONG comes out to the Rescue from far away with company to help out in the Big Finale 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is what I think too. A flood and rain aren't exactly the same, but they're pretty connected. You don't think biblical flood without 40 days of rain. Plus Monsoon is synonymous with rain, so the name Jinx Monsoon could easily mean Curse of the Rani, or something similar. I would have thought that was too much of a stretch, but Susan Twist's name was used as a fourth wall break clue, so why not? I'm not saying I'm 100% convinced, but it's plausible.
Mrs flood is Ruby's mum, Mrs flood is also the Tardis, sutekh is Rubys dad and that is why they were both there the night ruby was left. Mrs. Flood was hiding her from sutekhs, and he plans to use Ruby somehow. That's why she stayed close to Ruby. Also, I think the "S Triad" was a clue left by the Tardis to try and draw attention to what was happening. Thinking on the Mrs flood situation. What if Sutekh ripped the Tardis consciousness out of the Tardis? That's why she can break the fourth wall and knows about the Tardis and Sutekh. She does seem kinda evil so I'm not sure but the amount of questions and misleads this season has who knows 😂 The first time Mrs Flood sees the Tardis disappeared she drops her shopping like she's never seen a Tardis before but at the end of that episode she name drops the tardis. That's the moment
My theory is that Mrs. Flood is actually Susan, the Doctor's granddaughter. However, the key point in my assumption is that in the finale, she will reveal herself, and that face is just a perception filter. She will show the Doctor Carole Ann Ford's real face, leading to a heartfelt moment between the two. But the worst happens, and something "kills" Susan, forcing her to regenerate into a new, younger face. This new face could potentially become a new companion, and one possibility is that the new character played by Varada Sethu might be Susan regenerated! That would be amazing.
I just went back and watched it again. Sorry, Mrs. Flood did not break the 4th wall this episode. She looked off as if to look out the window, then just *below* the camera - never directly at it. BTW, surely I can't be the only one who noticed the doors of their building are all some shade of Tardis blue. Hers is a bit faded, and the door number is 4. I'll have to go back and check out a 4th Doctor episode for the paint job on the Tardis. Oh, and I think she's the Rani. Something about the way she said in 73 yards, "This has nothing to do with me", and then her tone in this episode when she said "There's a storm approaching".
There is more than one huge question that remains. LOL. My theorizing: As for Mrs. Flood, she is not a villain--maybe an anti-hero, but not a true villain. I think the true mystery is Ruby. I believe the approach to the Doctor and Ruby being kept somewhat apart is intentional. I still think that in 73 Yards it was not what was being said that made the people run, but rather when they looked to Ruby they were able to see her in her true form--for what she really is. Throughout the season we have had people introduced into the stories in a deceptive way, where they ended up not being what we initially thought they were. I think Ruby will be a continuation of that theme.
She's got to be a timelord. Possibly Susan. Possibly the Rani. Possibly the Monk given all the other religious discourse this season. Who knows!? If she is the Rani, I can't wait to see Mel's reaction! Either way, RTD would not waste Anita Dobson on an unimportant role...
I’m still wondering about the way Mrs. Flood changed in Church on Ruby Road. She seemed nasty at the start and seemed surprised when the Tardis disappeared the first time. By the end that had changed and she was nice to Abdul. I thought we would see some time shenanigans with the Doctor going back to a point in the middle of that episode and doing something that revealed what the Tardis is to Mrs. Flood and resulted in her changed attitude. (I’ve also been curious about the Doctor having a different outfit in the last scene that he had on when he entered the Tardis, as if something might have occurred between the time he and Ruby entered.)
Bit of a side question too. Unit mentioned "evil genius with alien technology, we've stopped enough of them, well excpet the obvious" then Morris says "we'll get him" i know it could be just RTD winking at the camera or some kind of joke about twitter/x and musk. But Daniel Barton (Lenny Henry from Spyfall) hes still out there. Or could it be another millionaire with alien tech who we haven't met yet? Who are they talking about and why?
mrs flood has to be susan. in the devils triangle, the doctor said susan lived in the east end of london. the actress playing mrs flood was a main charachter in the top british soap opera, Eastenders. that is why she was chosen for this role. its obvious when you think about it

Picking up on the Pond, River, Flood thing, she might be the daughter of the Doctor and River Song. Notice how proud she looked when she waved and spoke to 15 at the end of Church on Ruby Road?
In Pyramids of Mars. Professor Carmen had an assistant who looked after his house when he was away. The Egyptian, maybe Mrs Flood is like this human character, but that would explain why she is sort of up to speed on God like things and time travel etc. Loving this season.
I think she is Susan. The Doctor’s throwaway line about Timelords being able to hide themselves away make me wonder if Anita Dobson’s Mrs Flood will change back into Carole Ann Ford in the end. And then there’s that Tardis blue door…
To me, the identity of Mrs. Flood was obvious from the start. She seems to have intimate knowledge of the Doctor and his Tardis. Her surname is a dead ringer for her identity. Let's call her The Lady of Time.
The Doctor told Ruby that Time Lords use regeneration to save their lives or sometimes to hide themselves away with a new face. Then just a few scenes away we hear Mrs Flood say that she’s always hiding herself away. I think that she’s Susan and that will be the last twist as next episode and the season ends.

Here is what make sense to me from Church of Ruby Road and missed clues: She said to Abdul : "I know that you are watching me!", given this statement, I think this is a misdirect, we assume that she is paranoid or something, but in fact I believe she's being chased by some entity or someone so she is constantly watching her back. Then, she changed completely her behavior and became friendly to the Doctor after seing the Tardis vanishing and realizing it was a Tardis because she do not see the Doctor as a threat and start a conversation with the Doctor... She feels safe no longer hiding and sitting on a chair watching the street. It makes me believe that she is on the Doctor's side. She knew about what was coming in the Legend of Ruby so she can be a god or an entity (like Time which I do not believe that Time is a God but an entity) who can help the Doctor. She will time travel in season 2, there's been picture of her in 40's America...So to me she can't be the Tardis. She could be Susan, if she was chameleon arched, seeing the Tardis could be a signal who triggered her memories... sort of like "break the glass" with the fugitive doctor (leading her to remember the Tardis and it would explain why she didn't immediately). What if Susan regenerated and has a new face? In this episode the Doctor said Timelords can change faces to hide themselves away... she said she is hiding herself... I think she actually is. As RTD said she is a slow burn we might find out more from who she is hiding in series 2. However, it is unclear if she will time travel with Doctor using the Tardis or because she has the a ability (or a mean) to...
Her door is TARDIS blue (and RTD said to pay attention to the doors on that street), and a point was made of her going into her basement in 73 Yards. So maybe she has her own TARDIS in there.
In fact, I have read the script from Church on Ruby Road and it does spells out that Mrs Flood lives in the basement flat.This means that we do not see her apartment/entrance door as it is down the stairs. I believe that if a Tardis would become a building it would not be underneath a building but rather on top of it or an entire building, just like we've seen recently with the 13th (series 12) I could be wrong but important things to consider is that all the doors are blue in this street, even Ruby's. Ruby's building entrance door remind me of the blue Tardis of the 11th which is not the same shade as the Tardis is now. Rtd could just be misleading people here OR if he was hinting at Mrs Flood door, which color matches the blue of the actual Tardis (the one behind her while sitting outside on her chair), my opinion would be that it could be hinting at a Tardis but maybe, maybe because it's Susan! I mean: Susan who came up with the name Tardis not because she has a Tardis. Think about the shed of Rose in the Star Beast, the shed was jn fact a representation of the Tardis just like the toys she was making... just a crazy thought but what if?! Did anyone forget about the timeless child connection mentioned by RTD, only one episode left to go and I don't see how everything will fit. So much to solve: Ruby's mom, Sutekh, Mrs Flood. Also, why the doctor keep saying that he has, he will and not yet have kids in the Beatles and again with Kate. Then, Kate asked the Doctor how he can have a grand daughter before a daughter? What if Ruby is Susan's mum, and Susan is the one who dropped Ruby to protect her mum and her own timeline? Timmey-wimmey story... So the hooded figure would not be the mother but the daughter giving up her mother and she is hiding her face for this reason because the doctor would know who she is and it would be a nice way to have a cameo with the original Susan. I have read online (not sure if reliable) that the production was hiding an actor on set for the finale, could it be her? And one is not yet credited according to RTD (last time I checked). Ruby's DNA checked is not fully revealed but she can be not the Doctor's daughter but in fact she will become his daughter in law, making her very important to the Doctor's timeline even if human. Or she his daughter and her dna has little plus just like River Song. River song's dna is almost human but comes with a little extra.
For me it is The Rani. First there's the scene with The Doctor saying that the Timelords change their faces to hide. Immediately after that there's the scene where Mrs Flood says she's always hiding. Mrs Flood also says that her "mother" died because she wasn't there, perhaps a reference to the fact that The Rani is a scientist and would cure her? What if RTD is canonising Dimensions in Time and the reason The Rani can now break the fourth wall is related to where The Rani ends up at the end of Dimensions in Time
I understand where youre coming from but they dont have the rights to use the Rani. Everytime we get a mysterious woman peope jump to "its the Rani" and its so overused even if they wanted to use he Rani as a char and get the right to use her, what would be the point people would have guessed it immdiately since Rani is always the first name I see bandied around, every time, in these situations.
@@bradleyschooley2767 Yes, I am aware of the issue of the rights to the character, but I also know that this issue is related to the fact that we do not know who owns these rights to the character. Maybe RTD and the BBC have quietly managed to track this person down and they have come to an agreement. I know everyone always says it's The Rani, but this is the first time I've seen concrete evidence of it. The point for me is not whether or not anyone understands if it's is or if isn't The Rani, but the stories they can do with the character.
That's a very poetic theory, the one of Mrs. Flood being a Tardis!! Love it. :) I was thinking in the one she is a god too, I didn' notive her fourth wall brake the first time I saw her scene, but I notice it the second time.
What if, (this is a bit bonkers) ever since 13th Doctor regenerated into a ready-to-go 14th, exactly where the action was going to be with Donna etc, what if it’s been a form of ‘The Truman Show’. A little bit of Mind Robbers too. There has not been anything in this ‘season/series’ where everything is just bobbing along. It’s almost like they couldn’t help dancing! If it’s not then fab. But what if even the Pantheon of Gods are being used by someone even mightier and more powerful. If it’s not and it’s Sutehk alone, that is still amazing but we will have wait and see! 🤔🤯
Think that Mrs Flood could be either Susan Foreman, which makes sense considering she’s been the other mysterious woman alongside Susan Triad and Susan has been mentioned a bunch of times. Could also see her being the Black or White Guardians and Ruby could be the Key to Time.
Flood is either Ruby’s mom or the Doctor’s Granddaughter or both somehow (insert timey-whimey). I think it’s possible that Sutehk is still stuck in the void or time tunnel or whatever and the act of the doctor going back to Ruby road is what releases him which hasn’t happened yet… but this is an effect leading the cause situation because the time window enabled it somehow.
