The bass player is now a teacher in Pennsylvania. He said one day he opened his suit case in the hotel one too many times and left. He rejoined Joan on stage at her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Joan Jett was 19 when this song came out. Before the Blackhearts she had started an all girl rock band when she was 15 with Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, Sandy West, & Jackie Fox. After The Runaways broke up she couldn’t get signed by any record label because they said she “couldn’t sing” . So she and her manager started their own record label called Blackheart Records. The I Love Rock & Roll album went platinum and it’s the 40th anniversary of it this year. She is a great artist and is AMAZING live - I’m seeing her this September for the 10th time.
Pat Benatar - Hit me with your best shot, Love Is A Battlefield, Hell is for children and more, is another strong female voice for rock in the early 80's . Joan- like Joan of arc, I like more because she sounds savage. Pat Benatar had several songs that were calling out abuse.
I loved this song when I was a kid, so much so that a few of my softball buddies and I wanted to name our team, THE BLACKHEARTS. Luckily, our coach said no. Yeah, she was a kid herself back then. She’s still in good shape and touring. I saw her in 2003, in Milwaukee for the Harley Davidson 100 year anniversary. Before going solo, she was in an all girl Punk Rock band, THE RUNAWAYS.
I completely accidentally ended up seeing a concert of hers about a decade or something back…. At the Georgia Vidalia Onion Festiva. Went for the onions and “sure, why not?”, left thrilled I’d stumbled on her performing in such a weird and totally unexpected place. She was still rocking hard.

Bro, she was only 23. She became famous as the girl who started the band "The Runaways" when she was just 15. She was also the first woman to start her own record label and the first, that I can remember, who sang songs declaring her bisexuality way before it was sexy. You need to hear her sing about threesomes in "The French Song." It blew my mind. When I was 12, The Runaways broke my heart when my friends and I found out we weren't the first all girl rock band.🤣

Bad Reputation, Crimson and Clover, Hate Myself For Loving You... off the top of my head. If you really want to go back, she was in an all girl group The Runaways and they had a huge hit with Cherrybomb. That group also had another legendary female rocker in Lita Ford.
To this day I always think of her as Tess Turbo, her alter ego that appeared in the greatest comic strip ever--Bloom County. She was and remains a BOSS rocker.
At the beginning of the video they're playing another one of her hits, Bad Reputation. It's one of my favorites and was used in the movie Kickass. Do You Want to Touch Me is another favorite. I Hate Myself for Loving You is also pretty good. She's got my idea of the perfect rock and roll attitude and is also known as the Godmother of Punk.
I read that Joan jet was directly influenced by Susie quatro and looking at the head to toe leather the hairstyle and guitar she looks very like her.she was the first female rocker in the 70's she is 70 now still gigs and has released an album this year please check out her most famous hits from 73,74 can the can and devil gate drive you will see how much Joan looks like her.

Nice and down to earth. I met her in 1992 at a party in Connecticut and we chatted for almost an hour at the open bar, drinking. She had on the leather pants and the super black liner and hair with a white t-shirt. I was a new mom, shared my pix of my baby, and just hung out. I said nothing about her career stuff.
JOAN JETT is the queen of rock. She's awesome! She's in her 60s now, but she's still out there performing. You should also listen to "Bad Reputation," "I Hate Myself for Loving You," "Do You Wanna Touch Me?" "Dirty Deeds," and "The French Song." She has a lot of great tunes.

She is a bad ass and puts on an AWESOME live show. I saw her about 10 years ago and she was in such good shape i swear she had on this outfit from the 80's. She was so energetic and had sweat so much she had towel boys mopping the stage so she wouldn't slip, just like in the NBA!!!!!

This song is a cover of a British Band, Allen Merrill and the Arrows.. Allen Merrill has said his is a huge Joan Jett fan because the royalties from this song made him a millionaire.

It is *IMPORTANT* that you know and understand that this woman is not just a hardcore badass rocker, she is a true originator, innovator, and visionary, and is one of the most important people ever in the history of modern rock music male or female. She's earned eight platinum and gold albums, and nine Top 40 singles, including not just this one, and "Bad Reputation" (which the video starts with), but "I Hate Myself for Loving You" and "Crimson and Clover" just to name two you should react to. And that's not including "Cherry Bomb" from her days with her original band. She owns her own record label, has acted in movies and television, and even showed up as Nell in the Broadway revival of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. And as a music producer, she's responsible for some of the most important acts of the last 40 years. But what makes Joan Jett really, really important was her co-founding of the Runaways, the first successful all-female rock band. The Runaways kicked open a lot of doors for hardcore female rockers who would come after them, and a lot of the best-known female rockers today would have had very different careers if it hadn't been for Joan Jett leading the way. When she tried to find a record company to make record of her music she was turned down by them all as they said women can't make rock & roll music and certainly not music with sexy lyrics so Joan Jett went out and made her own record company and it has helped many young artists into the industry. She was also the first woman to have a signature guitar made in her name - a Gibson Melody Maker, her prefered guitar.

she was 16 or 17 when she was in that band call The Runaways (1975-79), so in 1981 or 82 when that album come out Joan would be 23-24. that runaways have Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Michael Steele just to name a few of the girls that hand a long music career. the only song i can remember from that band is call Cherry Bomb.
