I've grown up with 10+ pitties my entire life.. never known a day without one around me , and NEVER have I EVER had a situation happen like this... he has such a beautiful girl 😢 I pray she doesn't end up in a shelter or worse because of this man's ignorance . I feel for the plaintiffs . Just like JM though, instead of it being a chihuahua, the only dogs I've been bitten by (both times in the face as a kid, and both times my own fault 100%), were by a Jack Russell Terrier and a Rottweiler, 2 separate occasions. Think I hate any of those breeds ? Never.

Whether you have a pit-bull or a chihuahua, the rule is simple, ALWAYS on a leash...

I hate when she says “it’s not the dog, it’s the owner”. I’m a mail carrier and was attacked by a pit on my route. The owners are AMAZING dog owners and the dog was out of their control for less than 5 seconds and in that 5 seconds it ripped off my calf. I hate to be that person but owning a dog that has the physical capability to kill you is reckless. Any dog can bite but if my cocker spaniel decides to bite she’ll do substantially less damage than a pit.

And owner like the defendant is why Pitts are always in the media. No training and off leash all the time or allowed to roam the neighborhoods. They should never get a Pitt if they do not know how to train and work with a Pitt. And it is not the dog's fault, it is the owner who does not take time and work with their dog.

I don't like it when people don't watch their dog and it gets away and bites another dog or human.🙄

When you have good control of our dog, IT DOESN'T RUN OFF, and you don't have to call it multiple times before you can get a visual on it. In every photo of that pit bull the dog looks vigilant and unsure. I don't know where these people live, but this guy is not going to change and either his dog will be seized and him cited, or someone will shoot it.

Terrible looking wound! Report him to the animal control and report it to the police, if needed. He is now on alert, he dog is vicious and may cause it to have to be destroyed, which would be ashamed, for he can keep that from happening.

I have a large shepherd and small Chihuahuas. He loves them, they hate him. He just wants to play and they want nothing to do with him. I've had instances where he wants to play, they growl and snap. On occasion he has then bared his teeth. No way would I leave them unattended together. It's an accident waiting to happen. That's what being a responsible pet owner involves. Foreseeing the worst case scenario and preventing that. I should also say that I've worked for a veterinarian and a groomer. The worst dog bite I've received (which wasn't bad) was from a Chihuahua. Pits that I've worked with have always been very gentle.

Sadly he is not going to learn a lesson here and will still walk his dog without a leach !!!

I've never quite understood the USA law about dogs on, or off, a leash, and liability. In my country, if your dog bites, that's on you. If your dog is on or off the leash. If the dog bitten is on or off. Biting, your fault. If you know your dog attacks, you walk them with a muzzle. Any bite, any way, on the owner of the biting dog. As it should be

For any young readers - sorry - but this case makes me wish somebody would breed a humongous, 120-pound, tea cup chihuahua - 30 in. at its haunches - named "Ralph." Ralph got his name just like many pets as a puppy - something he did right away. With our giant, 120-pound, tea cup chihuahua, every time he choked up a bone or two of his favorite food - (think Judge Judy accent ...) No dog is 100% trained. Dog's should be kept on leash; also, please don't use a harness. this causes a dog to pull and you actually have less control. Chihuahua's are actually the most aggressive breed of dog. #2 is the Dachshund.

Q: Why are THE worst pet owners on the planet, ALWAYS the ones who feel the need to buy chihuahua-eating pit bulls? And then, when "Fluffy" the 64-pound pit bull eats "Tiger" the 64-ounce miniature poodle - not only does the poodle never win, and it's NEVER their fault. Yet they always lose - and I mean - ALWAYS - like 100% of the time...? It's both amazing, and yet pleasantly disturbing at the same time, making it more disturbing yet, right? What is this world coming to for crying out loud!? Are we going to be overran by unleashed pit bull toting idiots like these?!? (Personally, I think Jesus will be back long before we need to worry about it.)
