This series never disappoints. Giving just enough detail without getting to far in the rabbit hole, good job man..An Audi RS line in the future video would be sick!
How did I catch this video so early. Guess it gives me as good a chance as any, your videos are always very informative yet entertaining to watch, keep up the good work
lol this video is weak. Offenhauser made 1000hp out of a ford flat head in the 1940's. 2jz at 1000hp nothing rally.... hell a 4gt3 4 cylinder can make over 1000hp... 2jz fan boys are so dumb
Great job at explaining everything! This video should save a lot of people from buying the wrong engine for their dream build . There’s a lot great information in this video and awesome animations!
i Agree with that! Search Ringwood Dyno Party and there will be some of the more obscure evidence of the strength of that engine. I'm convinced that the Ford Barra engine is based on it.

The J engines didn't start from the big bore spacing six cylinders, but as a follow on from the G and S series Four cylinders, which had drastically reduced bore spacings from the 2T, 3T and 18/21/22 R engines to fit in the transverse front drive engine bays, mandated to fit the JDMs maximum 67 inches car width. The Celica XX had the first incarnation of the 3.615 bore spacing engine. It's effectively a mirror imaged six cylinder 3SGE without the Center cylinder bore pitch difference. As an engine, it's strong, but it's still only a narrow bore pitch engine, and it's peak cylinder head flow is way below the larger 1989 onwards Nissan RB26 and the '02-'16 Ford Barra Falcon 4 liter engine. Block strength is limited by oil galley positioning, but it's the way the 2JZE responds to turbo boost that makes this engine such a force. Great video, respect for your energy and sharing the Right Info!

Lower rpm no. That's the hallmark of an interference, i.e. cross plane crank. Call it an engineering allowance. You wouldn't be able to run higher boost with a noisy, wide powerband cross plane crankshaft. Enjoy the silence. No, really
I would also add: The GTE motors are non interference engines. This means that when your timing belt snaps or skips tooth, the pistons don't meet the valves. This is with stock pistons and stock cams of course. There is another significant difference between the GE and The GTE shortblock: the GTE block has two oil feeds on the exhaust side of the block that the GE doesn't have. They can be added tho.
Recently found this channel!! Thanks for being so damn informative but not just droning on and on and on. The editing in this video is what kept me watching!! Good information, video clips to help support facts, as well as not falling into the rabbit holes of information that comes along with engine machining!!
Bro.... I gotta say this is one of, if not the best informative videos I have seen yet on the 2Jz. Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. Much appreciated!!!!
Its rare that an amazing youtuber and a super interesting topic cross paths, to form a RU-vid video im genuinely so excited to watch, words can't describe.
Loved the video man. Especially when you added in the over night parts from Japan saying. Would love to see a video on the 1jz and other toyota 90s engines like the 1uz and the rest of that family. Can you do a second version of the videos that go a little more in depth of engine break down. So any Newcomers to the engine world would understand how they work. Would love to see that incorporated into you videos. Good job man this series is a hit.

Really liking the videos. Would like to see a video on the 6g72 out of the GTO. definintly seen these engines hit 500-700 whp on stock bottom end. Difficult to work on in car but were pretty sturdy engines for the time.

You did it (uploaded this video ) thats awesome i seen some one requesting this specific engine and there you have it now thanks bud this shall be awesome
Hey man I found you a while ago from your build a turbo kit video and I ended up building one along with the help of the turbo forums lol. This is seriously one of the best youtube channels out there for explaining the specs and details and the 'WHY' behind a lot of my questions. Anyway, Was wondering if you were ever going to make vids on bike engines?
My ideal build would still be 2 twin scroll turbochargers on the older GTE w/VVT. Twin scrolls work especially well with variable valve timing and you can do some amazing chit with them, especially as far as launching, anti-lag control etc. they're fun.
Bruh, your videos on engine history are AMAZING! Please keep doing them. I'd love for you to do some videos on dead platforms too, where'd the terrible Cadillac Northstar come from?!
@@dronetrucker Unfortunately I'm not sure! I've been up at college since the beginning of January and haven't had the chance to go back to work/drive the car! My spring break is coming up soon though and I'll certainly be able to tell you how she is running after that!
First off...really enjoy your videos, especially these about the engines!! Now, the following is my wish list: 1) Old school Big Blocks from the Big 3! 426, 427, 428 and 429 2) Old school Small Blocks, 340, 302, 305 and 350 3) 4cyl turbo's compared from Dodge (early and late model) Chevy, Ford, Honda etc. 4) 6cyl Turbo's Barra vs 2jz vs BMW Heck, toss in Mitsubishi's and Nissan's too from the old 300Z and Stealth/GTO.
@@Thadude701 You're right, my bad. Those are great engines too. A Chevy/Ford 302 comparo would be interesting. I also forgot about the Chevy 409, Buick/Olds 455, Mopar 440 and actually the Big Three's inline - 6cyl engines would be nice.
should do a video on the toyota 1FZ 4.5l. never came factory turbo but head-studs, mls gasket & bigger injectors you'll push 600hp, saudi dune dragsters making 2500hp
you sound like the guy that says your charger with wheels and stickers is not a build. Also this vid was spot on man good quality with the 3d scanned blocks.
2jz's are great engines to make power on. You can build them to be very stout and make great peak power while having pretty good spool. Its biggest down sides are its length limits chassis design and the engine itself is pretty hefty. It would be very tricky to build a light weight 50/50 balanced car with a 2jz. You'd have to be a chassis wizard and a transaxle would be a must.
I will say this I had a 7m making 500hp back in early 2000s. Hks head gasket arp head bolts and good to go. I will say the 7m sounded the best out of all of them. Swapping out the intake manifold makes the 7m look much better.

Could you please compare the 2jz-GTE with the rb26 DETT? Because opinions differ on which engine is more powerful and I think i would be interesting to see a scientific comparision! Also keep up the good work man!
What is there to compare ?? 2.6L vs 3L ... 2JZ block is much stronger and can support 2000 hp ... RB26 block cannot do 2000 hp 2JZ is just an over all better motor.
