I probably made that rifle. Look at the QC tag on the card it came with 😅 if it says ND that was me. I was one of the two armorers at Adams Arms. FYI we (Adams)went out of business last month, or at least they let everyone go. Investors pulled the plug. Piston system was great, all our 300aac regardless of barrel length ran pistol length drive rods. Wish I bought one when I had the chance. My guess is name/piston system will be bought and carried on my someone else. But it still sucks, we are all bummed and we were caught completely by surprise. Prayers, had a promising interview somewhere else last week at another manufacturer. I really enjoyed that job

For all the ppl doggin 300blk cause it's not 556, 300 blk was designed more to replace the mp5. It's supposed to have a short barrel, suppressed with subs. 200 yards and in. For its design purpose it fucking slaps 556, you won't be able to get 556 to perform as well and as quiet in a short cqb package.
@blackout.ghost718 you mean you tested supers against a sub and the supers won... Whoa dude wild concept. 300 blkout is meant for subs, out of like an 8 inch barrel and a suppressor, 200 yards and in. If you handloaded 556 subs to get the sound of a 300blkout and sent it through a 8 inch barrel 300 blkout would destory it lol but regardless it doesn't matter cause it was created to replace a 9mm not a 556 Edit: also garand thumb is a great channel but not the best source of info about other calibers. He has a huge hard on for 556 and always balances the scales in favor of 556. Until the military adopts a new round of course
@@TX-OaksRnr yes, sound suppression is 100 percent a huge part of the caliber. If you try to load 556 to subs to get the same sound suppression and shoot it out of like a 8 inch barrel it'll be trash that's the niche that it fills. Quiet, cqb. Like a PCC
So you're saying .300 bo using subsonic ammo is more effective than 5.56 supersonic? LMFAO no... Just no... As far as 'subsonic' ammo is concerned and its effectiveness, 300 and 8.6 blackout are the frontrunners for sure. But you are clearly confusing hypersonic .300 vs hypersonic 5.56 which in that case, the heavier .300 with the faster twist is more effective than 5.56. Again, no, subsonic .300 is not as effective as 5.56 period. No amount of feelings, opinion, word salad is going to change the mathematical facts period, end of story.
Christinsian Arms made the "carbon " barrel popular several years ago. They build fine sporting rifles, not plastic toy rifles...just saying.. Anyway, it's a small contour barrel with a carbon fiber wrap around. So you have the advantage of weight reduction from the smaller contour (diameter) barrel. Yet the rigidity of a heavy contour (larger diameter) barrel. All barrels when shot have an oscillating motion down the length of the barrel. Which affects accuracy. So, "target " rifles will generally have a larger or heavier contour barrel. Lightweight sporting rifles usually have a smaller contour/diameter barrel. Factory sporting rifles generally fall in the middle to satisfy all needs. They have a medium contour barrel (generally a number 3 contour). In south Ga., for Hunting. You can easily use a number 4 or perhaps 5 contour barrels. Get a little better accuracy. On the other hand, in the high country of say Colorado. You want to save weight at 10,000 plus elevation. But you don't want to sacrifice accuracy. Shots there are easily out to 300 yards. So, you go back to how to get a lightweight rifle and reduce the oscillation (whip) of a small contour barrel. Two choices.. 1. Flute a heavy contour barrel.. 2. Start with a small / light contour barrel. Then, wrap it in carbon fiber. Which is strong, lightweight, is not affected by heat or cold, and sudden temperature changes... it's perfect. The con.. cost, you can't do anything to it where the carbon fiber is. The pros, lightweight, rigid, and strong, consistent, hold up to changing conditions. 😎👍
I always thought that the most practical use for a .300bk for your everyday John Doe is something like a Sig Rattler, 5.5 or 6 inch barrel, piston gun so it can take a folding brace, and that thing will fit in some extremely regular-degular, inconspicuous bags, and with some 110 or 120 gr ammo, you’ve got yourself a MEAN little PDW. In regards to the muzzle brake, if you’re using a 9” or longer barrel? The cartridge has burned all of its powder, so you don’t get that huge dump of unburnt powder all at once. Basically, the muzzle brake on a 9” or longer .300bk doesn’t have that crazy concussion that a short barrel AR with a brake tends to have. It sounds obvious when you think about it, but when you haven’t tried it before, it’s pretty cool
My take: 16" bbl. , some well constructed fast, 110-125 gr.projectiles.Maybe 2-7x scope, You then have viable 100 yard big game rifle. God Bless you, have a great weekend. 🏞 🏅
Try the 90 grain (lehigh defense) for your 300BLK . Once you get your hands on some,I think anyone looking to reach out a little further might be impressed with it. But a heads up they aren't the easiest to get your hands on
Gorilla makes a 100 gr cartridge and Maker produces 85 gr solid copper 30 cal projectiles if your into reloading and you want a super fast 300blk. Supressed or not. Its great for training. You can also find a jig online that cuts .223 brass down and then you just run it through your resize/decaper
@@scabcrawler632 yeah, but the first step towards change requires honesty about the condition they are in. Or the condition of their shorts. Or something like that.
People misunderstand 300blk. Yes, it was requested by special operations to replace the MP5 by developing a round designed to be suppressed out of a short barrel AR. However, a 10.5 inch 300blk with 110 gr rounds will hit velocities approaching what 556 will do out of a 10.5 inch barrel, and with a much heavier bullet. Now, I personally don't have a need to shoot beyond 200 yards, so for me 300blk is superior. I would probably only choose 556 if I was primarily engaging targets out to 200-400 yards.
Hey Chad and Blake. You might want to let your audience know Adams Arms goes in and out of business quite often making factory replacement parts spotty. I may be wrong but I thought I read they shut down again in June. I think you could easily do a series on the different manufacturer options available for the 300 BO. Radian makes an excellent choice as well as well as Q or DD. I think everyone would enjoy seeing you guys attempt the hold overs with the 220 Grain subsonics!
Just shot my 300 BLK AR pistol, with red dot and linear compensator for 1st time, 25 yd indoor. All 150 rounds as I zeroed my red dot were awesome. I love it! I was smashing the target at 25 yd.
1:25 another thing about this rifle is the extra dry springiness incorporated into it, sounds like an old timers bed that should a been tossed out years ago...
What do you guys think of 6.5 Grendel? I put one together, love it but I'm just a terd. I think it is best of all for deer. Thanks for all you do. I'll by a T-shirt.
6.5 Grendel is an amazing round. Excellent for CQB and it can reach out and touch someone at 500 yards with very little drop in trajectory. One of the finest small arms rounds in existence, especially on an AR platform.
Built 3 Blackouts 7, 10.5 & 16”. Loaded up some 110 VMax & 125 SST’s. 110s are coming out of the gun at around 2400fps and the 125s around 2200 out of a 16” carbine. 110s are laying down around 725ft. lbs. of energy at 250yrds and still going 1700fps. Gotta run poly tip for that bullet expansion to make up for the lost hydrostatic shock. Also some states won’t let you hunt with 5.55 and this would be a good option for deer, hog or coyote. For a reloaded this is good cuz .30cal bullets can interchange from .300 Blk. up to .300Win Mag.
A buttstock does not magically create a rifle, you don't have to live life by governments edicts, our governance is voluntary. Have you had enough yet?
@@Blaze-v6f Chad would get an actual “short barreled assault rifle” from the military, unlike the rest of us common folk. On pure principle, I wouldn’t pay the $200 to the govt for the tax stamp.
@@rgbking488 nothing special. Just get a 5.56 setup and purchase a .300 blackout upper and you're good to go. Do the same thing for your .308 rifle. Get a 8.6 blackout upper for that. Maybe a Gen-12 upper too 😁
I am not a expert but I heard 300blk does not do a good job creating a wound cavity... it's more just knock down or poke holes. Garand Thumb mentioned it is equivalent to a 45 hand gun.
@@dman7776 maybe subsonic. I use 99% supers and the subs I use are the Lehigh Extreme Expansion and they open bigger than most broad heads on the market. I have never had a deer go more than 5 yards and most drop in their tracks. I seen that Garand Thumb video and as good as Mike is as tactician and weapon expert, he is not much for ballistics. If you ever watch Ron Spommer, he goes into it very well. As does several “ballistics” channels. But all I can speak on is personal experience over 10-12 years and I have no worries on it’s performance and my “go to” home defense weapon is .300blk SBR.
@@GrumpyGenXGramps oh yeah I love the Lehigh ammo. I could only afford one box though! Since I'm invested in 300 Black system, I have the 110 grain acc sabre black tips because of the good value they give. However, I feel like a 75 grain 556 would do better at wound cavities at close distance.
If the powder is all burnt after 8" then it is impossible to gain more velocity. There is no more combustion behind it. This is why having a 16" 9mm PCC is silly. 9mm burns out befor 6"
YT barbarians trying to censor this sort of content. Anyway, I got a buddy that's real interested in .300 blk but I'm stubborn I guess, if it ain't .308 or 5.56, I just don't care.
300 blk is for fun once you have all of the standard calibers. In fact if you go for a 300blk before building a nice ar-10 in 308 you are a confused individual.
@slimeyslug12 I had a high end 308 AR, sold it, actually traded it, was a PIG with 20rds of 7.62x51. Now I'm running 300blk, I am trying to sell a B&T of mine to fund said 5.56 though. I probably should have went 5.56 before 300blk but I'm stubborn I guess lol.
Honestly my preferred home defense caliber is .300aac. Without a suppressor, subsonic rounds are quieter than a 9mm. I prefer a 10.5" barrel though they make 7.5" which is more or less just as good. There really is no recoil to speak of but the knock down power is pretty substantial and with the right ammunition you can have an amazing hunting pistol or home defense pistol
I loveee shooting 110 vmax out of my 10.3 Gotta try the 220 gr still. Have only shot 150 at the heaviest so far. You are right the recoil is negligible
The imogi is big Papa J. The catalyst for my appreciation and skill with firearms. Keep doing what you do my fellow Ga brothers!! It's a pleasure sharing your down home REAL lifestyle and Mos important...Wait til the end HUMOR!
I like mine with a silencer on it, makes a huge difference even with supersonic ammo, also 10.5" is my favorite length for 300BO, its a manageable length like a mk18, but you still get great Supersonic performance.
For reloaders, H110 can be used, and only about 10 grains or so, while the .44 mag uses double that amount. (Priced out powder lately ?) .30 caliber bullets are bigger and easier to handle than 5.56. Plus the .300 and 5.56/.223 use the same lower, same mags. Just swap out the barrel. (I've never had a problem with .300 in .223 mag)
I've had one for a few years now. Home defense with a good suppressor and subsonics, I load my own. After that nothing real special, especially if you buy your ammo. But make sure that the feed ramps are for larger diameter bullets. Most barrel makers use 5.56/m4 feed ramps and they suck, especially for subsonics.
I always thought .300 Black was the US response to 7.62x39. Similar shape. The military had been looking for a round that would have similar knock down and kinetic power like that of the AK. Pretty sure the story was in Iraq episode 2 Saga 1, the 5.56 was penetrating cover, vehicles and took more rounds for a kill. 7.62x39 removes chunks of matter.
On youtube look up the video: Epic Civil War Facial Hair. It is a tribute to the courageous men of both the Gray and Blue. I found it very powerful. And now here we are in a time where our great country is so divided. People are saying don't think for a moment that it could not happen again. That is frightening!
I have a decorated family member let's just say special forces. He loves the 300-win mag. I have seen him hit antelope on the move at 500 plus yards. I mean those antelopes were moving fast. I never seen anyone praise the 300-win mag. If you ask him for advice on a long-range rifle, he will tell you there only one rifle you need from elk to boar.
Yo, I gots to comment again.. those color options on the barrel pants are top level bush/brush tactical. I pray that you get a service contract if you don’t already have one. 🙏 The next line should be a convertible option where they can turn into shorts! Hooray!
300 BLK makes so much sense, for myriad reasons. That said, I keep stock in .22, 9mm, 10mm, .45, 12ga, and .308. I’m not stockpiling a bunch of 300BLK as the .308 is still a perfectly viable caliber for me.
@@themightycrixus1131 it is a 5.56 case necked to .30 with a bullet that is pretty much a .308. It’s pretty slick and is well suited for lots of things. I think it’s better than a 5.56 (though I don’t care for the 5.56 to begin with), but not as good as the .308. It is a super awesome close-range package that can use a short barrel without missing dwell time and cycles subsonic rounds effortlessly.
@@Watchdog_UFOtestpilot i am loving my 10.3 i built as a bday gift for myself last year 😍 she purdy. Ever since I learned about .300 blk i was all about it. The .223/5.56 holy grail is that 20" with a 1:12. It creates a gnarly wound channel and fragments like its supposed to.
@@themightycrixus1131 5.56 is fast, light, and can be deadly enough. I like the 6 ARC, 6.5 Creedmore, 6.5 PRC, 6.8, 7, 300blk, and .308 better still. I made choices, and for my “one rifle” ended up at a DD5v3 in .308. I’m good with my decision. I plan on getting a tikka T3X tac a1 .308 in 20” soon. Would like a MK12, and a honey badger, and a bunch of other cool stuff but I don’t think I’ll be straying from the calibers I currently run.
@@Watchdog_UFOtestpilot i feel ya on that! I have yet to experiment with the 6's. Maybe one day because I am definitely looking to get and ar-10 at some point.
A 7.5" with a 'folding stock' makes a great tool box/truck gun. You can load a lot of multi purpose ammo in 300 that you cannot in 556. I say own both.
Thanks for the video. Just got my first one on order, PSA 300 blackout, SBA 4 pistol brace, 8.5”, going to pick up a SilebcerCo ASR brake for the Omega 36M, and slap in a POF tomahawk charging handle. Not certain on the trigger yet, either another RA 535 or a FRT from Rare Breed if they are making them now. As far as the optic I’m looking at a few options but not certain yet.
You can shoot a 1000 yards with a AR. Gas piston has been around longer than direct impingement... very accurate. Direct impingement very accurate. The difference between them was to the cycle of operation. A gas piston is cleaner. But you have to keep the piston clean and functional. Which is not difficult. The AR 180 is the rifle Stiener built to replace the platform you have. Which is a gas piston system. However, the military had already approved the original platform and would not change. Then Colt started to produce the civilian version. Then everyone started "building " (assembling) AR style rifles. Then making an shutting down. Which lead to the battle of gas piston over direct impingement. Problem was the gas piston rifles were small off brands. When they closed up so went the parts. 😎👍
The AR-18 / 180 was not done to “replace” the AR-15. It was done to be something that countries with lesser manufacturing capacity and less money could produce. Stamped and folded sheet steel versus aluminum forgings that require CNC machining to finish. It’s in NO WAY a superior “replacement.” Remember, a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. When you have a small piece of information your mind wants to fill in the gaps and you then misinform and bad info gets spread.
Just happened to click on your vid and noticed the FJ60. I had the same one. Same color. That color of blue is very rare. Normally all you see is the deeper blue color. I miss mine so much.
Ammo availability is why. Stock up while its cheaper. During that covid crap, I had some buddies who couldn't find any. Or didn't want to pay for what it was selling for.
I was wondering what the fucking beeping was all about. I was looking for a listening device or something in my office. It was just RU-vid beeping Blake's extensive vocabulary.
300 BLK works just fine for my fam. Versatile round with a versatile platform. Deer and yotes in my terrain are 150yd or less. We use 150gr zeroed at 100. Boys keeping meat in freezer.
Mr Chad. I have two pairs of the greatest hot weather work pants ever made. Do you think you can get barbell to reverse engineer them? Let me know I’m over here in Hall County.
300 BO is a niche caliber. It shines with subsonic heavies paired with a can. Lethal? Sure, but only with good shot placement. Your kinetic energy with subs is pretty much on par with 45ACP. For tier 1 guys doing CQB / CQC it makes sense to me, but that's about it unless you're shooting supers.
There's a huge advantage of that caliber that seldom spoke of in short barrels the 30 cal burns more complete and efficient than a 556 so that dwell time it's not as much of an issue that's why you see him in such short barrels and they function so well just food for thought something you might want to look into
Cool now good luck stacking enough to mean something and remember once you realize your aren't going to Rambo from house to house on missions stealthily 556 or even 762 would be better. Lol
The one thing Blake forgot to mention is with sub-sonic rounds and a good suppresser, it is quieter than a suppressed 9mm. So running suppressed is another huge reason to run .300.
My impression is the .300 blackout maintains more power in very short barrels than 5.56. It's velocity is >100 fps than 7.62x39. Max case pressure is higher in .300 so you can load it up...
I’m not an avid shooter but I do have a 300 H&H mag that can hit a 38” t.v at 500 yards with cheap scope. I can chamber a new round and hit same target in 3 seconds. It is the simple big hit rifle
Several years ago I was looking at carbon fiber barrels for a bolt action hunting rifle. I assumed this was for improved barrel harmonics. I haven't seen one on an AR. I may have to investigate this. As far as an advantage to hunting with a 300 Blackout... Some states have caliber requirements that a 5.56 doesn't meet. When I lived in Washington State, there was a 6mm minimum for big game.
Looked on Adama website ,and went to shop and it says it has nothing..maybe there website has a glitch or something ...want one of these ..shot 300 blackout a ton! With subsonics ..would love to have one of these with a folding brace ,can put it in my bug out bag in my truck....my longest shot where i hunt in the woods is any where from 10-80 yards
