Your new camera setup produces very nice footage, especially with that shallow depth of field. It also looks kind of effortless, seemingly without tons of extensive studio lighting (i can only see one ring light source reflected in your glasses). May I ask which camera and how many light sources you used for this video?

Thank you! I shot this on my Canon RP and a cheap 50mm f1.8 lens stopped down to f2.8. My lighting is an overhead halogen light, a south-facing window on the left side of the screen, a halogen closet light coming dimly from the right side of the screen, and the ring light you mentioned coming from the left side of the screen also. It's a bit too bright on the left and dark on the right, so next time I'll experiment with evening that out.

It’s not sneaky! 1. Lego did not say they were retiring 2. Lego can keep sets available as long as they want so fans can buy them, why should they do anything to help investors?

@jamesblades7646 it is sneaky!!!! First of all, Lego is the one who unofficial leaks it, trust me I was an employee...how do you think we even get a leaked retirement list, think about it! Bottom line, this was a way in increase sales in a terrible economy Also, they should help investors...because investors buy a lot of lego

LEGO is between a rock and hard place on investors. They ostensibly dislike resellers, but we make up a significant portion of their sales. Tough position to be in.

Tie fighter will go down as new ones coming out this year. bomber "SHOULD" be better .. but 3 years shelf now :/

The new TIE fighter should take some demand from the old one. But I think the older one being the smallest price point in a decade means it has more room to grow in perceived value before buyers have to wonder "why am I paying $100 for a TIE fighter"

Not an investor, but as a collector I am totally fine with these sets being extended. Let's me put focus on the other retiring sets slated for 2024, and there's every chance a sale/promotion would come along for the 7 sets at either Lego or other retail stores.

Exactly, for collectors this extension is actually good. It gives collectors more time to save and buy the sets before they retire. The negative is it means less shelf space for new sets, so I expect the >$100 playsets in 2024 and 2025 to be few.

I would have the numbers people digest this one and look for openings. Will this put an unusually high number of Lego sets on the market through 2025(compared to other years)? It feels like there is going to be a ton of choices, and maybe hard for your average customer to pickup everything they might want to pickup leaving some good space for resale.

@@novotnigergely8195 You can always sell them pretty fast with a discount around 10-30 buck if needed. I doubt Amazon or Lego is gonna drop the price anytime soon.

What if they get pushed back again in 2025? Some will prefer to shelf the sets an extra year. Others like me will prefer to recoup that capital and reinvest into sets that will begin growing in value much sooner.

Values change constantly especially on current production and recently retired sets. I know some people use Brickeconomy but I'd be wary of their pricing estimates. There's not really a good way AFAIK

Why do you have so many Republic tank sets behind you (boxes), you must love those a lot. Frankly i am little bit suprised (i am new on this channel) You said you brought 4 Ghost & Phantoms, i mean if you have extra money and you can buy four of them, fine, your money, but rest of us mortals can get probably one, heck, i have only one Ghost & Phantom set, and i do not buy sets to "invest" so that i can sell them later, i buy because i love those sets and want to have them on shelfs, of course you never know when you are in need of money and you are force to sell your collection, but well.Executor is definitly good investment, friend told me to get few of them, i do have one which i build, but i do think of getting one or two more, they could sell well once they are off the shelfs in stores, but if its gonna stick for one year i wont rush. I am suprised to see Tie Bomber remains for one year, did expect that one to go off this year.

This is why a channel like yours is important for people who are investing in LEGOs to watch. LEGO is known to keep tabs on forums, channels, etc. They probably planned on moving the retirement date back on these sets knowing that people are scraping their websites to find the retirement date. I'd argue people should really stop "investing" in LEGO and instead deploy their funds into the stock market or bitcoin for a better ROI. The days of easy money from reselling LEGO is over.

I like the perspective. Yes, the stock market, commodities, bitcoin, T-bills, real estate, gold, & other assets all offer unique balances of risk and reward. But LEGO investing done right is in my opinion still the best trade-off between the two. Would love to make a video on this someday.

I sold my one copy of the Ghost and Phantom II. True...ever since covid people have been treating lego as an investment like surely there are better things out there to invest in than whats supposed to be toys for children...
