Mercedes-Benz India has just launched the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA , in GLA 200 Petrol and GLA 220d diesel variants , along with the 2021 Mercedes-Benz A-class Limousine , in A200 Petrol and A200d diesel variants along with the bonker AMG A35 4Matic version. But the fact is that a basic ₹17 Lakh Nissan Kicks or a Renault Duster , Both with a 1.3 Turbo petrol , Manual or CVT are much better buys than the Mercedes-Benz GLA or A Class Limousine cars at the ₹50 Lakh price point .
Both 2021 GLA and 2021 A-Class come as:
200 Petrol : 1.3-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol unit ( A200 and GLA 200 ) that produces 163hp and 250Nm of torque mated to a a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox
Diesel : A-Class Limousine comes in the 200d guise ( A200d ) developing 150hp mated to an 8-speed DCT automatic
GLA diesel comes in the 220d guise making 190hp and 400Nm of torque and an 8-speed DCT automatic .
2021 A Class Limousine also comes in the bonkers AMG A35 4Matic version with 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine churning out 306hp of power and 400Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox .
Nissan Kicks 2021 comes with 2 engine options:
1. 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 106hp and 142NM torque with a 5-Speed Manual in XL and XV variants
2. A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine engine making 156hp and 254Nm torque mated to either a 6-Speed Manual or 7-step CVT automatic in XV, XV Premium variants. Range topping XV Premium (O) is only offered in manual form.

Only presented half the picture ... the preferred engine is the 220d 190 bhp 400 nm engine. Same engine that you get in the E Class, so this configuration is the other way round. Power to weight ratio compared to the E Class is very good, plus 4matic AMG line version gets great performance due to 4 matic grip (0-100 in 7.4 secs). So while it is true that petrol version should be avoided as it is a Renault sourced engine, the 2 litre diesel is a 'pukka' Mercedes engine. The GLA was also one of the 10 finalists in the 2021 World Car of the Year awards. So viewers should have been presented with all aspects / configurations of the car.

Dear Car Enthusiast. The engine may be the same but a superior power transmission a better design of the power train is what fine German engineering is about. The Morden day cars have very good engines indeed but the price varies due to the periferal ancillaries. Your argument is that since the Taj Mahal is made of Marble and my house is made of Marble my house is as good as the Taj. Starting with the body, the steel is thicker and double galvanised. No rust after 15 years.

But that marble was produced 300-400 years ago. And probably produced by a different group of miners. If the marble of your house meets the same criteria, I'd say that basically your house and taj Mahal are equally good. 😃

@@hrishikeshnarasimhan2467 Just avoid the GLA at any cost. Just listen to Carmaster. These entry level luxury cars like GLA, A class, CLA, A3, 2 series and X1 aren't properly engineered at all. They are just built to a cost to generate volumes. It's true in some reviews too. In Carwow review of the GLA, Matt Watson said that the GLA's AC control panel shakes a lot and it has a lot of panel gaps. He also showed them too. Just get the Volvo XC40 or Mini Countryman but avoid the entry level luxury cars at any cost. You are spending your hard earned 55 lakhs and those entry level luxury cars aren't worth at all. If you want only German luxury brands at GLA price then go for an Audi A4 with discounts. Audi recently gave 15 lakhs discount on the A4 and many people bought it. Or else you go for the BMW 330i Sport. Some features are compromised but you will get the proper German engineering. Trust me from these German luxury car brands, your money will be well spent only the 3 series or C class or A4.

Instead of a petrol, one can buy a diesel gla which has 190 ps or one can get a gla35 amg or an a35 amg and don’t mind but gla has a pretty good build quality and feels very luxurious but yeah definitely its not as good as a model above them but they are expensive too and people who are looking for a gla or an A or 2 series are in market in search of a luxury car which is more easier to afford and maintain than a higher model but want a luxury car in their garage, but u were correct about the A class, the engines which is given in A200 or A200D (although a 2L diesel but still makes 150ps) it does make you feel that was spending 30-35 lakh rupees extra just for looks luxury and badge was a good idea or not and many might regret it too but if they want a entry level luxury sedan they can also look for the bmw 2 series or an X1(though pretty old but new model might be coming soon) it has better engine definitely more luxurious and attractive than a Nissan kick and afterall it’s a bmw which is like one of the best car manufacturer for the people who love to drive their car it will be a great option for them. You have made a very good video and it has also alerted a lot of the buyer’s and probably this video also saved them from making a very expensive and wrong decision, but i think these points should also have been a part of your video as it also might help the potential buyers of one of these car it’s just my point of view and it might help your viewers to gain more knowledge!!

a well known fact. Thank god someone has spoken about about it in India. These entry level cars are nowhere near the lofty standards of these luxury carmakers. They're filled with faults and plastic junk even in the mechanical aspects. NEVER BUY THE ENTRY LEVEL PRODUCTS OF ANY GERMAN LUCURY CAR MAKER . #Mercedes #BMW #Audi

Totally agree. I have innumerable problems with my q3 audi . At 50000 kms the brake pads are worn out . The glove box handle is broken , the alloy rims look rusted and the keys 🔑 have rusted . Can u believe and the quality is no Wer near the high end cars

Thanks bro mai literally plan kar chuka tha GLA lene ka aapka comparison bilkul thik tha ki dono hi cars me same petrol engine mil raha hai but mai DIESEL engine wala lena chahta tha GLA 220d ek baar reply jarur kar dena. Indian roads pe sedan thik nahi hogi isliye c class consider nahi kar sakta. compact SUV me GLA hi fit baith rahi thi. mujhe budget issue nahi hai. Ek achhi car suggest kar do please. Thanks.

Diesel aap le sakte ho. But ye entry level car hai Mercedes ki. And iska or A Class ka na mere pass viewer feedback zada badhiya aaya hai or agar aap globally bhi dekho to inki reliability zada badhiya nahi hai. Entry level car hai to iska kaam sirf volume generate karna hai. Andar sara plastic he bhara hua hai inme. Even mechanical parts bhi plastic ke hai kaafi saare.

The thing is that the only petrol engine available in both cars is a turbo petrol. So one has no choice.

Its kinda comparing vivo android phone with apple. Android got a ton of more features than Apple but in the end the moment u take it out of the pocket every thing in android fade away. This engine shit is nothing u r not gona race on indian roads. Same as a smart watch is better than a Rolex in features but in the end one shows ur status and other ur poverty... People buy Mercedes, not for reliability it is just a status symbol. The second thing is Nissan CVT is crapy it is known to have many many issues. They can go bad very early and repair is very expensive. Mercedes has 8 DCT transmissions that save gas and the shift is quick. Repair of luxury brands is always expensive as I mentioned people buy MB and BMW for status symbols but comparing engines is not the full truth, transmission plays a major role in how quickly power is transferred from motor to wheel and at what cost. The best is to buy motor cycle it will save a lot..lol

Biggest challenge to consider Kicks is, Nissan's future in India. They are the the verge of leaving India and then Magnite is a big hit. If Nissan releases two more cars to run their business steadily in india, we can definitely consider Kicks. Its an amazing car!

Carmaster, you are right. The GLA and the A class Limousine are worth avoiding. Not only they have Kicks' engine but they are terribly unreliable. Many UK reviews said that the A class range is unreliable and they forced them to avoid them. Also the 2 series and the A class Limousine are overpriced and offer nothing except badge. I heard that Audi gave 14 lakh discount on the A4 2021. The discounted A4 is far better than the A class range and the BMW 2 series and X1. Skoda Kodiaq and Superb are far better than those so called cost cutted entry level Germans. Those who want an entry level luxury car should buy the Volvo XC40. I agree that Volvos aren't that reliable. But the XC40 is at least far better than the entry level Mercedes-Benz, Audis and BMWs. Not only the A class range, even the GLE and the GLS are worth avoiding at any cost. In teambhp many 2020 GLE reported major quality issues i.e engine failure and oil pump failure and many other issues as well. Many UK reviews said that the GLE is unreliable. X5, Q8 and the upcoming Audi Q7 are far better buy over the GLE. The GLS is a GLE with 7 seats. So it's reliability will be same. If you want a 1.3 crore rupee 7 seater luxury SUV then buy the BMW X7 or the Volvo XC90 hybrid not the diesel. Volvo XC90 T8 hybrid and BMW X7 are best. I don't know why many people buying the GLE only in the name of road presence? Mercedes-Benz is compromising on the reliability of their cars nowadays. The A class range, X1, 2 series are worth avoiding. In entry level luxury car segment XC40, Kodiaq, Tiguan Allspace and Kodiaq are best. In 7 seater segment BMW X7 is the best. Carmaster, from now on, please make videos of luxury cars as well. Potential luxury car buyers should know about that.

Share some reference interested to see.. Finally Merc is a premium brand comparing it Nissan is a joke.. Be it entry level or top spec it comes with Mercedes Benz embossed on it, It's a brand not just a car..
