HOW I REVIEW:
As you might know from my „How I make a buying decision“ video: Rather than just looking at the pros, I like to evaluate the cons or flaws of an item and then evaluate if I can live with them. That is why in my video reviews I concentrate more on the cons of an item rather than going over all the features. Therefore everything shown is just a fraction of all the points that go into the verdict and score of an item.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A QUICKLOOK AND A REVIEW:
A Quicklook usually covers pre-production units or items that I only used for a short period of time. While Reviews cover final items that I have reviewed intensively.
LINKS:
For all my videos I decided not to include links for the products. Everyone is living in different countries and therefore has to deal with different shipping and customs fees. That is why I would advice everyone just to Google the product within their country to find the best deals.
For instance: I live in Germany, It wouldn’t make sense to give you a German link while you might be living in USA or Asia. I hope that is understandable.
FULL DISCLOSURE:
This video is not sponsored. While I sometimes get bags for free, I usually have to pay custom fees and in addition to that all my videos have lots of production costs. Therefore I invest my own money into all of these video and have no intention to be biased towards a product or company. All opinions in this video are my own unless stated otherwise.

It is totally fine to buy a hommage watch. If you can't afford a Rolex, buy a Steinhart. You won't have the same craftsmanship but at least you'll get to enjoy a mechanical watch in the legendary submariner design. I love my OVM as a daily "beater" watch, it's the one I wear the most. If you like a watch, buy it. Don't worry what other people might think.

Thanks, mate. At some point I would love to have a Tudor Black Bay, but I just can't justify the price. So having an homage is a good alternative for me.

@@Youknowthebo you can get the black Bays on the secondmarket really cheap, so maybe you could try there :) I bought myself the new GMT one on the canaries, i really like the watch!

Looks like an excellent watch! :) I personally bought my first mechanical watch a few months ago and wearing it right now! It's an Orient Mako II diver. Excellent watch with an automatic movement and I believe 40 hour power reserve. I got it for about $140 and I simply love it!

The Mako looks awesome as well. Orient and Seiko do some quality stuff at great prices

A very interesting and good review of the Steinhart. I am also starting to really get into watches and I got started with Hamilton Khaki Field. Now I have a few Seikos and a few Hamiltons, and I couldn't be happier with my little collection.

Great video Bo. I wear a Seiko SKX007 and it is a brilliant automatic watch for even cheaper price than the Steinhart. This is a great way of doing advertising while not compromising your credibility and it really shows that you have been thinking a lot about how to do sponsorships while also not compromising your integrity. Good job!
@Youknowthebo
@Youknowthebo 5 лет назад
Thank you very much, Emil. I'm happy that you see it that way. Not sure if anything will come of this kind of sponsorship, but it's just the first small step. The skx is awesome. If I would not already have the nano monster, I would definitely go with an skx

You've got a very sharp looking and well executed watch with a movement used in some watches which are much more expensive. Moreover, see-through caseback is a rare find at watches with such a high WR rating. Cool to know that there is a person out there who shares my passion not only for backpacks, but for the watches as well :)

Steinhart does homage but in my eyes the 500T is not an hommage. It's pretty unique. Don't listen to snobs. I own 2 JLC, 2 Omega, 1 Cartier, Yema, few seiko, hamilton and... 2 steinhart including the Steinhart 500T - they are fantastic beaters.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a “homage” or not, it’s what you like. I’ve been wearing a Traser for a while, no issues and I like the style and the NATO straps also.

That Steinhart looks like it could take a beating. I'm also a newbie when it comes to watches. My girlfriend gave me a Daniel Wellington Sheffield a few years ago, since then I want to know more about watches. Started out with a simple Seiko quartz chrono, a G-Shock DW-5600BB, and today I bought my first automatic, a serious watch: Seiko SDGM001. So happy. I want a Seiko blue Sumo too, but they're hard to find these days.

I really wanted to get the Bambino. It's a beauty. I personally went for the Mako II because I don't wear dress watches often.

The Bambino is on my wishlist as well. Haven't gotten it yet, because I rarely have the need to wear a dress watch. Don't even own a suit haha. But it is a beautiful watch.

I'm kind of cheap when it comes to watches because I use them as strictly fashion accessories. As such, I wear a Lord Solitude (Black/Gold) for the clean look and colours. I've never had any problems with the movement, I wound it on the first day (one year ago now) and that's it. As far as budget fashion statements go, I recommend Lord and and Vincero!

You have a good taste in watches. Once you dive into the watch community you shall see only the fanatics are the ones who do not like the homage watches. Most watch enthusiasts love homage watches. Even Seiko makes a lot of homage watches but they are not similar to the original ones but more or less inspired by them. Being said that Seiko has a lot of original, classic and also iconic watches so they mostly get a pass. I wear a few watches. I only recently (about 3 years ago) started loving and wearing watches. I too love the aspect of these watches being self contained mechanical marvels. And no matter what they work as they should all the time. Timex Weekender - Well its a simple, cheap and works well. Casio F91W - Its like a tank, I like to wear it when I play football. Casio AE1200 'Casio Royale' - The cheapest GMT watch. And well Casio makes good watches. Seiko SNKK27 - That was my first mechanical watch. Needed something very basic and formal to start with. Orient Ray II - I love simple diver watches. I also had the Seiko SNZF Sea Urchin but realized I cannot keep more than two mechanical watches as these need to be worn quite occasionally otherwise well they stop and then need to set again. And personally I don't like or want to buy a watch winder yet. So sold the SNZF after I got the Ray II. Over time these watches have made me appreciate their inner workings and how useful and necessary the date complication is in a watch. Also its odd thats Steinhart needs more than 10 rotations to get it working back. Being mostly using Seiko I also thought few shakes and it starts working. Steinhart and its price range seems like the next logical step for me when I plan to upgrade. Thanks for the review. Talking about German watches, I would some day want to buy Damasko and/or Sinn watches.

@Youknowthebo 5 лет назад
Thank you very much for this awesome comment. That is an awesome collection. The Orient Ray was actually one of the watches I was considering to get as my very first mechanical watch. I was deciding between the Seiko Nano Monster and the Ray. I found the Nano Monster in Jakarta used and just decided to get it. But an Orient is definitely on my wishlist. Considering that I already got two divers, I think the Bambino would fit nicely into my collection.

600 €, that would be The ETA. Many microbrands have been making cool watches for the last few years, most sporting Seiko NH35 movements. They run really well and have the same specs in case and bezel materials. At somewhat lower prices.
@SlowandFat
@SlowandFat 5 лет назад
that's weird, all me ETA 2824, including the Steinhart Ocean 1 stainless steel, can start working once I shake it a little. Sinn is another great German brand that I love, super durable and "bang for buck" for a mid end daily beater.

I have this watch and I wind it up with 30 turns. It's the standard amount for automatic watches.

I just googled it. Looks pretty good, but at a price over $1200.- I'm not sure if I would want to go the Homage route. I think the great thing about the Steinhart watches is the quality together with the price makes you "overlook" that it is an homage. But with a price over $1000.- (no matter how good the quality is) I would prefer something that stands more on it's own.
